The second season of Big, Little Lies continues where season one left off. The whole group of ladies lied to cover for one of their own, who committed a (well-deserved) murder of an abuser as he was attacking his wife. Over time, however, that decision takes a heavy toll on all of the women. Then the dead abuser's mother (Meryl Streep) comes to town looking for custody of her grandkids and to avenge her son's death. It becomes clear pretty quickly that the murdered abuser came from a pretty twisted mother--and she is determined to cause chaos and suffering.
This release features the complete second season of Titans, the original drama series based on DC Comics characters. Dick Grayson reforms the Titans to take care of unfinished business, but Deathstroke's arrival threatens to tear the Titans apart once and for all.

There is a lot more going on in the second season of Titans than there was in the first. That's not always a good thing, however. The larger DC universe definitely gets involved, including a world-weary Bruce Wayne and an icy Deathstroke (and a lot of talk about Lex Luthor). There are a lot of different plot lines going on for the diverse group of Titans.
The "big bad" for season two is Deathstroke, who has been the nemesis of the Titans all along. Flashbacks from the first iteration of the Titans (which was only hinted at in season one) reveal why Deathstroke has a vendetta against the Titans.
There's also quite a bit about a Kryptonian clone and his faithful flying super dog. That plot manages not to become comedic, but it gets close to being silly at times.
And there was yet another vote from the fans as to whether Jason Todd (Robin 2.0) should live or die. You have to watch to find out what happened!
When World War II broke out, John Yossarian (Christopher Abbott) sought bombardier duty-in the hopes the war would end before his training. Instead, he wound up in Italy, looking for any out from the mission requirements his clueless COs kept extending. Acclaimed Hulu take on Joseph Heller's classic combat satire from co-star/co-director/co-producer George Clooney also stars Kyle Chandler

Catch-22 has always been a hard novel to convert to film or television. But George Clooney and his creative team to the best they can to bring the anti-war story about World War Two bomber crews in Italy to life. While the satire does hit home fairly frequently, the focus is somewhat diffused over the length of perhaps too many episodes. And some of the changes made to the story to make the mini-series more TV friendly (like the stunt casting of Clooney and Hugh Laurie) were not the best idea.

A Lot of the DC Universe comes out to play in Hush

A new villain mastermind rises to pit himself (and a large "guest star" contingent of the DC Universe) against the Caped Crusader in Hush. This story did NOT go where I expected it to--from the identity of the villain "Hush" in one of the excellent Batman video games I played--to managing a lot of story in a roughly 90-minute film. And, as with all animation, it looks awesome in 4K!

The final season of Preacher brings God himself into the action, more than he has been before. The faithful, led by the insidious organization known as The Grail, are prepared to start Armageddon.
The Preacher (Jesse Custer) and his friends Tulip (the butt-kicker) and Cassidy (the vampire) are ready to do what it takes to keep the world from going poof and/or boom. With Hitler and Jesus and the Saint of Killers and various angels and demons in the mix, Armageddon is going to be a blast.
Preacher was a show too weird for even cable TV, but it was a breath of fresh air compared to most TV fare.

With good acting, great sets, and fine writing, Swamp Thing deserved more than one season of life. But one of DC Comics' most misunderstood superheroes has always had a tough time reaching the screen--and staying on it once he was there. With a bit more of a "horror" vibe than in previous incarnations, this version of Swamp Thing is even more memorable than previous shows/movies about this not-so-jolly green giant.

The Glass Bottom Boat is a classic 1960's screwball comedy that covers all sorts of subjects, including that era's fascination with the aerospace industry. Doris Day plays a widowed part-time mermaid (who swims underneath her father's glass bottom boat) who ends up hired as a secretary by an aerospace tycoon and embroiled in a slapstick sort of spy drama where romance eventually ensues. Great performances from Doris Day, Rod Taylor, Paul Lynde, Dick Martin, and Dom DeLuise are a treat for the viewer.

Elliot Gould is Philip Marlowe in The Long Goodbye, but Raymond Chandler was never like this. Through Robert Altman's post-modern lens, this noir tale is more of a comedy or an existential musing than a hard-boiled detective story. Elliot Gould sort of vaguely wanders through this very 1970's take on the classic Chandler story. The theme song of the film is sung by the same fellow (Jack Sheldon) who would later sing the "I'm Just a Bill" song on Schoolhouse Rock.

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is a love-letter to Hollywood at the end of the 1960's. Those familiar with the Manson Family "Helter Skelter" murders will likely be confused by Tarantino's re-interpretation of history (like some of his other films do).
There isn't much plot to get in the way of the story here. Rick Dalton (a mostly washed-up cowboy star) and his stunt double/driver Cliff Booth are a happy-go-lucky team. The script doesn't give a lot for them to do, however. They just drift through the story, occasionally having "dramatic" moments. Both main actors show off their acting chops in very different ways.
And, yes, the third act is a mess of violence (which I liked) and head-scratching artistic decisions (which left me cold).
There are a ton of interesting actors in supporting roles, led by Margot Robbie (as Sharon Tate) and Al Pacino.
And, yes, my favorite part of the whole film was Brad Pitt facing off in a friendly fight with an actor playing a trash-talking Bruce Lee.

Taking on the book "It" is a tremendous undertaking. But even in the course of two films, it's unclear why the kids survive or the adults ultimately triumph. The performances are almost all wooden. The writing is pretty bad. The CGI effects tower over everything else in the film. The movies are really all about Pennywise--the evil alien clown beast murderer. And yet, when it comes time to be "truly scary" the movie-makers chicken out and go for silly looking monsters and rampant computerized special effects. Are they trying to make these movies more appealing to kids? To China? Anyway, these movies are a mess. The TV miniseries from the 1990 gets the story a lot closer to correct, even if the special effects at the end are horrendous.

Is this a TV program or a Netflix, or what? I am interested in seeing this series. Please let me know where to find this showing.
The Titans TV show is on the Warner Brothers DC Universe streaming service.
