The Matrix Trilogy is one of the most beloved as it broke new ground back when it came out with stunning fight choreography, stellar design, and great characters. Yes, some of the special effects didn’t age all that well, but seeing these on crystal clear 4K is amazing.
Getting all 3 films together, regardless of how you feel about the sequels, is a great value. Packed with special features and a free digital redemption code, this is a must-own set for any movie fan, martial arts fan, or cyber punk fan.

So when I bought this, I don’t normally go for steelbooks, but getting to have this movie in crystal clear 4K and Dolby Atmos soundmix, The Experience of the film was hugely enhanced. Plus hours of special features, a film commentary track, and a free digital redemption code!
But where I saw the great extra added value was the Best Buy exclusive for a free month of the DC Universe streaming service. So many amazing shows, movies, and comics that I can stream to my tv and iPad that I just couldn’t resist!

Shazam is such a fun film with a lot of fantastic characters that make it a superhero version of BIG. I immensely enjoyed the movie in theaters, but getting to finally see it in 4K is an even better experience. The striking reds and lightning effects really pop off the screen with the 4K and the Dolby Atmos soundmix is just incredible.
If you buy this movie, THIS is the version to own!

I know it’s still considered a gimmick, but for some movies I still really enjoy watching them in 3D. Shazam has some great moments that make the 3D a great experience. It’s also great to have the 3D disc, regular blu ray, and a DVD copy.

So this is a mixed bag for me: I love the steelbook artwork as it kind of resembles the original VHS box with the black and red. I also love the new disc artwork and the all new special features bonus disc that comes PACKED with new features on both films, including new commentaries.
HOWEVER... what I’m not crazy about is the stacked-disc method for the disc holders. It makes for a pain in the neck getting them out when you want to watch them and also creates that fear of potentially scratching the discs. I really wish they’d each had their own separate slot.
All things considered: great release for some very fun movies. I’ve owned too many editions of this set to count, but really what made this worthwhile is the new special features. Even if you have the singular 4K releases of these movies that came out a few years ago, this set has enough new stuff to make it a great value for all the hardcore fans out there.

While this isn’t a True 4K release as the movie was shot on digital, the upscale of the 1080p picture is nice. The sound enhancement is also great if you have a surround sound system in place.
All in all, this is a fairly standard release that comes with a 4K disc, blu ray disc, and digital copy. If you are a fan of the film, this is a great edition to have. If you’re a Marvel fan and just want to have a copy for your collection, you’d probably be safe grabbing the regular blu ray if 4K isn’t a high priority for your personal collection.

Such a Fun Movie!!

For any comic book fans out there who’ve read the Batman & the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles graphic novels, you already know how amazing this pairing is. And getting to see this adapted to an animated film is just as rewarding!
The voice cast and animation is really fantastic. Each character really FEELS like each character. And they do not hold back at all in this movie. This isn’t something that’s been watered down to be kid friendly. The action scenes are intense and brutal and There’s moments of blood and broken bones.
What’s most fun is spotting all the homages and references to other Batman and Turtles films. There’s a ton of references to the 1990 Turtles movie which is widely regarded as the greatest TMNT film still to this day.
If you’re a Batman fan or a TMNT fan or even just an animation fan, this is a great movie to pick up. It comes with 2 great special features about the movie, a sneak peek at the upcoming Batman Hush adaptation, and a free digital copy.

One of my favorite movies from the ‘80s

I realize the ‘89 Batman movie has gotten a lot of criticism in recent years after the release of modern movies like The Dark Knight and Captain America The Winter Soldier. But I still feel that this film was revolutionary and ushered in the era of superhero movies we now enjoy.
Whether you like the story or not, I would find it impossible to deny that the design of this film is stunning. And seeing this movie, FINALLY, in crystal clear 4K is the way this movie needs to be seen as it’s never looked so good! Having been shot on film, this movie hugely benefits from the 4K Upgrade in picture, and also in sound! With a great sound system in place, the sound effects and bombastic score by Danny Elfman are just incredible!! I have no problem saying that this is easily the best way to see this movie and it’s worth every cent.
The set comes with a 4K disc and a regular blu ray disc that sports all the same special features as previous releases. Unfortunately, this does NOT come with the Diamond Luxe feature “Making Of the Modern Blockbuster” which is a bummer and there are no new features to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the movie or the 80th anniversary of Batman.

A Gorgeous Batman Movie

For anyone who grew up in the 90’s, Batman Returns was likely a movie you watched and would flip flop between loving it and hating it because even though it’s gorgeously shot, Batman doesn’t do very much in it.
With that being said, seeing this movie upgraded to crystal clear 4K is amazing. The darkness and snow really helps boost the contrast and makes the film pop off the screen. And the improved audio really helps boost the bombastic score. It’s also great that this version comes with all the previous special features AND a free digital copy.
