First impressions
I finally got around to setting up my new laptop today. A little background first...I have used Windows devices for the past 25 years and have never owned an Android device. As a result, I was a little hesitant about how long it would take me to get used to the new Acer Spin 15 Chromebook.
I finally got around to setting up my new laptop today. A little background first...I have used Windows devices for the past 25 years and have never owned an Android device. As a result, I was a little hesitant about how long it would take me to get used to the new Acer Spin 15 Chromebook.
When I picked up the box, I was surprised how heavy it was. I have been using a 13" Ultra book for the past 3 years at work so this 15.6" model seemed big and heavy in comparison. This device does have a nice FHD touch screen, but there is a lot of bezel around the display (about an inch or more on every side). I was happy to see that the laptop did not get hot sitting on your lap, even after a couple of hours.
Setup took all of 10 minutes, which has never happened for me with a new Windows device (it might have actually been shorter than that, but I was waiting for more setup steps that never came so I didn't check the clock right away). Usually Windows setup can be 30-45 minutes. I already had a Google account so that part of setup went pretty quick. It was also nice that it knew all my settings from my Chrome browser so it opened up my default browser pages on the first login and had all my saved bookmarks too.
Getting around the Chromebook OS is pretty straight-forward and very similar to a Windows PC. The "Start" menu is on the lower left, the opened apps show up on the bottom "taskbar" and the lower left is where the app notifications are located, just like on Windows. I have used the Google Chrome browser for years so there was no learning curve needed for that.
Battery life shows nearly 12 hours when fully charged. I'll track this for a few weeks and update the review. My work laptop started with an 8 hour battery life, but after a year it is down to about 3 hours before it dies so this can change quickly based upon usage.
I'm not a big gamer, but considering this is a Chromebook, that is not what you would expect to do with it. I'm sure any web based games will work fine, as will any apps from the Play Store.
The keyboard is backlit so it is easy to use in dark rooms. There are speakers on both sides of the keyboard which sounded good when testing out Netflix. One thing that will take me a while to get used to us the single click mouse pad. I'm so used to having the right and left mouse buttons that I kept trying to right-click to get to the context menus. It took me awhile to figure out that you have to two-finger click to get to that. I'm guessing Mac users won't have a tough time adjusting to that.
Overall, I like this laptop and would recommend it for someone that does mostly browsing. The Chromebook responds quickly and has worked really well for streaming movies and sports online. As I use this more over the next couple of months, I will add some updates on battery performance and any issues I run into, but for now, I am very happy with this laptop.

Overall, this has worked just as expected, except for a couple days where movement was being saved to the cloud. It was not a networking issue since I was still able to use live video, just not see things that were supposed to be saved. Things seem to be working again now and if it continues to, I will update to a 5 star.

I had issues with previous versions of the Fitbit (I was allergic to the Force and the Charge died after one week), but I was very interested in getting the Charge HR when it came out. I got mine as an early release in December directly from Fitbit and bought another for my wife from Best Buy.
We both love the features, continuous heart rate monitoring, distance, stairs, and of course the step counter. I don't like wearing watches, but this is small enough that it doesn't bother me. The data displayed is just right and vibrate feature for the alarm clock and incoming calls works great. One of the features that many may not think of is the watch-style wristband. This was the main reason I selected the Charge HR over the Charge, Yes, heart rate monitoring is nice, but at the end of the day, I could have passed on that. The fact that I no longer worry about losing the Fitbit because I accidentally rubbed the clasp against something was worth the extra $20.
I would say the only downside I see with the Charge HR is battery life. They say that it will last 5 days...I have never seen it go more than 3 days since I got mine last year and my wife's is the same. It isn't the worst thing in the world, but it would have been much nicer if you could have gone a week without charging like the old Fitbit Force.
Overall, I really like this and have recommended it to many people. I will be purchasing another one for my daughter for her birthday.

I have been waiting for the replacement to the Force since I sent mine back since I was allergic to the nickel (still have scar in my wrist 7 months later). I was debating between the Charge and Charge HR, but since the HR model wouldn't come out until 2015, I decided to go with the Charge.
I had it for just over a week now and am less than impressed with the quality. I charged the device as soon as I got it on 11/5 and wore it for a little over a day and I was already prompted to charge the device again. I turned off "All-Day Sync" to see if that would improve my battery life. With that setting off, I got about 3 days charge on the device, which is OK, though not as good as the 7-10 days I previously got with the Force. Although some may consider this to be acceptable, I find it annoying that I need to charge it 2 to 3 times more often than the last model.
Yesterday, I got a message that my charge was low, which I found surprising since I had just charged it. Halfway through the day, the device stopped displaying information. I assumed it was out of juice, but when I got home and tried to charge it, nothing happened except seeing an empty battery symbol with an exclamation mark in the middle. Tried charging it overnight and still nothing.
I checked the Fitbit site to see how to restart the device, but it doesn't respond to the steps provided to reset the tracker. I am returning this one to Best Buy since it is still within the 14 days and will wait until Fitbit solves these issues before getting a new one.
I do like the Fitbit products, but currently they have two strikes in my book, First, the Force ended up permanently scarring my wrist and now the Charge stopped working after a week.
The features I liked in the Charge are:

- Stairs tracking
- Sleep analysis
- Mobile app provides all the info I need at a glance
- Incoming call notification with caller ID
- Social ecosystem is good

Ok, I'm really not a gamer any more, but I do like playing with technology to stay up to date. I set this up in the living room so I can use the kinect for controlling the TV...and I also squeeze in a game or two every once in awhile. The Netflix app is also pretty popular in my house and easy to use.
I like the interface and I'm waiting for Halo later this month as that is one of my favorite titles.
Overall, good platform for gaming and home entertainment. It is pricier than PS4, but thanks to a price match at best buy, I got a great deal on this ($100 off the original list price + Forza).

Is it possible to have a separate modem for gaming on a PS4 system, than the modem that I already have set up for the rest of the household? I have satellite Internet service, and unfortunately there is considerable lag.
If you mean setting up a separate cable modem, my guess is you would have to pay for a separate incoming service for that modem. Your bandwidth issues are probably due to the satellite connection limitations.
If you mean setting up a separate router (for wifi or ethernet connection), you can do it, but you would still be limited by the incoming satellite connection.

Can two different persons use the same fitbit charge HR?
Multiple people can wear it, but you wouldn't be able to separate the data unless you setup the device every time you switch users. That would seem to be quite a lot of overhead and probably isn't an option for the long term.
I would say you need one device per person to make it usable.

when is this available?
It's already available. The Charge HR is supposed to be available early in 2015, per the Fitbit website, though I got an early release today by ordering from their website.
