Yes! Live streaming is just one option. You can also use it to take photos and videos that are saved to your SD card in the camera, which you can then save to your computer, edit, and share.

what is the battery life? like when live streaming?

Battery life depends on the settings you use. At the highest frame rates and resolutions, a full charge will get you about 45 minutes of recording time. At lower resolutions, you should get about an hour and twenty minutes. And, you can also use an external power supply if you'd like to have even longer recording times.

Can you attach an external microphone or lapel Mic?

Yes, you can, but you will need to use the new Media Mod for the HERO8 Black in order to do that. The Media Mod includes the mic input jack. The Media Mod is sold separately, but you can find it here on the Best Buy site.
