GoPro cameras don't have a traditional telephoto zoom lens, so while it will record objects up to any distance, the objects may appear small if they're more than a few dozen yards away.

Are the batteries for the max the same as those for thE fusion? Can you charge max batteries in a fusion charger?

The MAX batteries are entirely new and need the new MAX Dual Battery Charger. Likewise, Fusion batteries will not work in the MAX.

Is this compatible with the upcoming go pro8 battery?

The charger will charge the new HERO8 batteries, but the extra battery that comes with this charger is not going to be 100% compatible with the new HERO8 Black. There is a Dual Battery Charger that comes with the HERO8 battery if you're interested in getting a spare HERO8 battery.

The MAX has built-in mounting fingers, so it can connect to nearly any GoPro mount. It doesn't come with a mount designed specifically for handlebars, but you can definitely get that mount separately. The mount you're going to want to look for is called the GoPro Handlebar / Seatpost / Pole Mount.
