How well does this camera perform in winter outdoor temperatures? I've heard that it takes a special battery maybe?

The HERO10 Black does great in colder temperatures. The issue you'll want to watch out for is that very cold temps can cause lithium batteries to drain faster than they would in normal temps. Keeping the camera warm (ex. inside a coat pocket) between uses can help extend the life. If you do plan to spend a lot of time in colder temps, you might want to look at the new Enduro battery that is specifically designed to perform better in cold temps. Both the original battery and the Enduro will work in colder temps, but you'll likely get longer battery life from the Enduro.

Can the Hero10 take time lapse (e.g., 1 second video clips spaced at 10 minute intervals) photos? If not, do any of the GOPROs do time lapse?

The HERO10 Black can shoot both time lapse photos and time lapse videos. The intervals can vary depending on which format you choose and the settings you shoot in, but in general you have lots of options between a shot ever half-second to one every 60 minutes. Plus, if you want more options, you can use the HERO10 Black with our new GoPro Labs tools which allows you to create even more custom intervals.

Is the footage easy to download to a computer and editing easy?

You can get your photos and videos to your computer in a couple of ways, including removing the SD card from the camera and plugging it into your computer's USB port and downloading the content directly. You can also use GoPro apps to transfer content. As for editing, GoPro photos and videos use standard formats of jpg and mp4 formats that can be editing using nearly any current editing tools, inlcuding GoPro's Quik app.
