Sonos - One SL Wireless Smart Speaker - Black
Sonos - One SL Wireless Smart Speaker - Black
Get rich, room-filling sound with this Sonos One SL speaker, and control it with the Sonos app, Apple AirPlay 2, and more. Pair it with Sonos One or another One SL in the same room for stereo separation and more detailed sound.

I want to connect these to my projector which doesn’t have arc HDMI. I bought the Sonos arc soundbar but that is not compatible with my projector. Will this speaker work since it is wireless?

Unfortunately, a single Sonos One SL speaker won't directly work as a wireless speaker for your projector. Here's why, along with some potential solutions:

The Issue:

Input Limitations: The Sonos One SL only has Wi-Fi for connectivity. It cannot receive audio signals directly from your projector.

Listen to music on your patio, terrace, balcony, garden or by the pool with these Sonos Outdoor speakers by Sonance that feature a UV-resistant design with a perforated aluminum grille to ensure durability. The 6-1/2" woofers offer powerful audio.

We have a new home and want to put in the Sonos outdoor speakers. We were told that we needed an electrical plug but the speakers are wireless for operation. However I am reading that we need an amp to run these speakers. Suggestions????

You're absolutely right! Here's why there's some confusion and what you'll actually need for your Sonos outdoor speakers:

The Confusion:

Wireless Control: Sonos speakers operate wirelessly for streaming music and control through the Sonos app. This means once they're set up, you don't need cables running to the speakers for playing music.
Power Requirement: Even though they are wireless for control, Sonos outdoor speakers still need to be plugged into a standard power outlet for electricity. They're not battery-powered.
The Amp:

Essential Component: Sonos outdoor speakers, like most traditional speakers, are passive. This means they require an amplifier (specifically the Sonos Amp) to power them and play music.
Signal and Power: The Sonos Amp serves two purposes:
It receives the audio signal wirelessly from your Sonos system.
It amplifies this signal and sends it through standard speaker wires to your outdoor speakers.
Suggestions:

Sonos Amp: You'll definitely need a Sonos Amp to operate your outdoor speakers.
Electrical Outlet: Ensure you have a weatherproof outdoor electrical outlet near where you want to place the speakers.

What is the difference between the Sonos and Sonance equivalent in wall speakers? Assuming i have/buy the sonos receiver, what are the specific functionality differences between the 2?

Sonos and Sonance offer excellent in-wall speakers designed for seamless integration with the Sonos system. Here's a breakdown of their key differences:

Sonos In-Wall Speakers

Designed by Sonos: Sonos directly designs and engineers their in-wall speakers, ensuring perfect compatibility and sound tuning within the Sonos ecosystem.

Sonos App: All control happens within the Sonos app, giving you access to streaming services, equalization settings, and multi-room audio features.
Sonance In-Wall Speakers

Collaboration Between Brands: Sonance, a leader in architectural speakers, collaborates with Sonos for optimized performance with the Sonos Amp.

I purchased a LG 65UR9000 4K UHD from Best Buy recently. I have trouble hearing with the TV speakers. Since my left ear works can the Sonos One SL Wireless Speaker be combined with the TV speakers and can I control the Sonos speaker volume separately?

Unfortunately, it's not possible to directly combine a single Sonos One SL with your LG TV's built-in speakers and control their volume independently. Here's why and what your options are:

Why It Won't Work:

Different Systems: Sonos speakers operate on their own wireless network and are controlled through the Sonos app, while your TV speakers work independently.
No Direct Pairing: There's no way to pair a single Sonos One SL as a standard wireless speaker to your TV.
Possible Solutions:

Sonos Soundbar: Invest in a Sonos soundbar like the Beam, Ray, or Arc. These soundbars connect directly to your TV via HDMI ARC/eARC and can replace your TV's speakers while offering superior sound quality and Sonos integration.

how much square footage will one 6-1/2 speakers cover adequately ?

Unfortunately, it's not about square footage coverage with in-ceiling speakers like the Sonos Architectural 6-1/2. Here's why:

Sound Dispersion: In-ceiling speakers radiate sound in a cone-like pattern. This means sound isn't focused in a specific direction and fills the room differently than a traditional speaker.
Room Acoustics: The size, shape, and materials in your room significantly impact how sound travels and is perceived.
Desired Volume: If you want loud, room-filling sound, you'll need more speakers than if you simply desire background music.
How to determine how many speakers you need:

Room Size: Start with the dimensions of your room. A larger room generally requires more speakers for even coverage.
Listening Position: Where will you primarily be listening from? Focus on placing speakers closer to this area.
Speaker Spacing: For general audio, aim to space in-ceiling speakers roughly 6-8 feet apart. For more focused, directional sound, you can place them closer together.
Recommendations:

Consult a Sonos Dealer: Dealers specializing in Sonos systems can offer a personalized assessment of your space and recommend an ideal speaker layout.
Online Tools: Some resources, like the basic guides on the Sonos website, can give you a rough starting point.
Important Note: Sonos Architectural speakers are passive speakers, meaning they need a Sonos Amp to power them.

Let me know if you have a specific room size or layout in mind; I might be able to provide some general guidance!

Featuring next-gen acoustics and new levels of connectivity, Era 100 transforms any room with the finely tuned stereo sound and rich bass your music deserves. Easily play all your audio content using WiFi, Bluetooth, and 3.5 mm line in. Enjoy hands-free control with your voice.

What is the difference between era 100 speaker and the play 1?

Here's a breakdown of the key differences between the Sonos Era 100 and Sonos Play:1 speakers:

Sonos Era 100

Newer Model: The Era 100 is a newer generation of Sonos speaker, designed as a more capable successor to the Play:1.
Upward-Firing Speaker: Includes an additional upward-firing mid-woofer for a wider soundstage and more immersive audio experience, especially with Dolby Atmos content.
More Powerful Bass: Features a larger woofer for more robust bass response.
Bluetooth Support: The Era 100 adds Bluetooth connectivity for direct streaming from your devices.
Line-In: The Era 100 has a line-in connection for directly plugging in an audio source like a turntable.
USB-C Port: Instead of the older micro-USB, the Era 100 utilizes a modern USB-C port.
Trueplay Tuning: Automatic room-tuning technology for optimal sound based on your room's acoustics.
Sonos Play:1

Older and More Affordable: The Play:1 has been around longer and is generally a more budget-friendly option compared to the Era 100.
Smaller, Simpler Design: The Play:1 is more compact and features a simpler design.
No Upward-Firing Speaker: Lacks the dedicated upward-firing speaker for a less immersive Dolby Atmos experience.
No Bluetooth or Line-In: The Play:1 relies solely on Wi-Fi for connectivity.
Which One to Choose

Improved Sound and Features: If you want the best possible sound quality, added features like Bluetooth and line-in, and Dolby Atmos support, the Sonos Era 100 is the superior choice.
Budget-Friendly Option: If you have a tighter budget and don't require all the extra features, the Sonos Play:1 is still a capable speaker that offers the core Sonos experience.

I have a SONOS ARC, will the Sonos Optical Audio Adapter work with my speaker to my Samsung QLED 85 4K TV

Yes, the Sonos Optical Audio Adapter is designed to work with Sonos products that support optical audio input, including the Sonos Arc soundbar. If your Samsung QLED 85 4K TV has an optical audio output port, you can use the Sonos Optical Audio Adapter to connect your Sonos Arc soundbar to the TV.

Here's how you can set it up:

Check TV Compatibility: Make sure your Samsung QLED 85 4K TV has an optical audio output port. This port is typically labeled as "Optical," "Digital Audio Out (Optical)," or "Toslink."

Connect the Adapter: Plug one end of the optical cable into the optical audio output port on your Samsung TV. Then, connect the other end of the optical cable to the optical audio input port on the Sonos Optical Audio Adapter.

Connect to Sonos Arc: Plug the Sonos Optical Audio Adapter into the HDMI input port on your Sonos Arc soundbar using the provided HDMI cable.

Configure Audio Settings: On your Samsung TV, navigate to the audio settings menu and select "Digital Output" or "Optical Output." Ensure that the audio output is set to "PCM" (Pulse Code Modulation) or "Stereo" to ensure compatibility with the Sonos Arc.

Set Up Sonos Arc: Follow the setup instructions for your Sonos Arc soundbar using the Sonos app on your mobile device or computer. During setup, you'll be prompted to select the input source for your Sonos Arc, so choose the HDMI input port connected to the Sonos Optical Audio Adapter.

Test Audio: Once the setup is complete, test the audio playback from your TV through the Sonos Arc to ensure everything is working correctly.

By using the Sonos Optical Audio Adapter, you can enjoy high-quality audio from your Samsung QLED 85 4K TV through your Sonos Arc soundbar, enhancing your home theater experience.
