Sonos - One SL Wireless Smart Speaker - White

I have an older Sonos in my kitchen (voice control) and one Sonos play 1 in my living room. I want to add another speaker in living room for a stereo sound. Will this speaker work?

The Sonos One SL can not be used as a rear speaker with a Play:1. The rear speakers must both have the same name. The Sonos One SL can be used in a stereo pair with a Sonos One with voice as they have the same name the SL just signifies the lack of a microphone.

Can this be used on an older tv with just hdmi or do you need the hdmi arc?

Best Answer

If you do not have HDMI ARC you would use the included HDMI to Digital Optical adapter to use the digital optical audio out on your television. The only disadvantage to using digital optical instead of HDMI ARC is you will not have access to CEC+ controls that allow your Beam to control your television with your voice.

I have one speaker with built in Alexa. Just purchased the Move also with built in Alexa but I'm having the hardest time with the Move. The Move does not pick up my voice. Can the voice activation only work on one device?

Voice should work across all speakers. If you are using the Move near another voice activated speaker only one of them should respond to your command. You would need to take the Move into a different room to test it's voice response. There shouldn't be any issues with Move picking up your voice as long as the microphone isn't muted (the light should be on on the top) and you are on WiFi (voice is not enabled in Bluetooth mode.

Great question! Yes! You will be able to connect the Connect to that player and then group the Connect with any other part of your Sonos system and hear the CDs!

Can I connect (2) sets of Bose 251's to this amp?

As long as the Bose 251's use standard speaker wire and not a proprietary connector then you can absolutely use them with the Sonos Amp.

In order to have a wireless speaker outside that plays television content you would need a Sonos set up that includes a home theater product connected to the television you want to hear outside. That product could be a Playbar, Beam, Playbase, or Sonos Amp. As long as you have good WiFi signal outside of your home, you could then group a Sonos Move with that product and hear the television outside wherever you roam around your home!

If this speaker supports streaming music from my laptop, will the other networked speakers play it as well?

The only other speakers that will definitely play in sync with this speaker are other Sonos products. There are ways to connect to multiple speakers through Airplay 2 but only if your computer is an Apple product and your other speakers support Airplay 2.

I have a Sonos sound bar and woofer that were purchased 6-8 years ago. Will adding a Sonos-One (Gen 2) speaker work with my two existing speakers since they are older. Will voice control work for the whole system?

Great question! You can absolutely add Sonos Ones to a system that includes our Playbar and Sub. If you were planning on using them as rear channel speakers in a surround sound you will add voice to that room. If you are planning on using them in separate rooms you could group them to hear television sound in other rooms and you could control the Playbar with voice from those rooms as well.
