What is the difference between the play at and the play base?
The Playbar is a sound bar that could be mounted to a wall. The Playbase is a speaker that the TV sits on top of.

I'd like to play music from my iPhone iTunes library. Tracks not available on streaming services. I need to control music/sound effects from the opposite side of very large gym through an amp on the other side. WiFi signal is strong. Is this Possible?
You can not play songs from your iTunes library direct from your phone. However, if you have a PC also on the network it to has these tracks you can play the music from it.

Is the Play:1 and ONE gen 2 compatible? meaning can i have a left and right channel?
No, you can not pair those two as a stereo right and left, but you can with a One and and SL version.

I have an older Sonos speaker that no longer plays music from my IPhone as that feature was taken away after the last update. Does this newer version Sonos have the ability to play the music I purchased thru ITunes from my IPhone without using airplay
No unfortunately this feature has been permanently removed from all Sonos speakers.

how does wifi extender work?
As long as the Boost or at least one Sonos speaker is hardwired to your network it will create it's own wireless mesh network that allows all speakers to talk to one another.

To play different music in each room you will need an Amp for each room.

This might seem a silly question, but is this speaker stereo or mono?
Not silly at all. The speaker is mono, but when paired with a second one it can become a stereo set.
