This is a high performance system with its Intel Core i-5 processor and 8GB of RAM. It will generate heat whenever it is turned on, even at idle, this is normal. The onboard fan will maintain the proper operating temperature for the device. You will hear the fan whenever it runs, this too is normal.

There are two standard USB 3.0 ports, one USB-c port, one HDMI-Out port, one 3.5mm combo headphone/MIC jack. This system has a CD/DVD drive built in. As long as the cells within the battery are intact and a circuit can be completed with the device plugged, yes, even if the battery no longer holds a charge, you will still be able to leave the device plugged in and use the device plugged in.
