Guys please answer quick :) i bought this and in a quiet room i can hear constant fan noise but it is little but is it normal for there to be fan noise every now and then that gets louder in volume then goes back down to normal and i have nothing heavy on

Yes, this sounds normal. This is a high performance system, with its Intel Core I-7 processor. The fan running is necessary to keep this system within normal operating temperatures. If the device is turned on, even at idle, this device generates heat. The fan will run, even at idle, to keep this system at optimum operating temperatures. The fan will throttle up if the device is performing heavy work and additional cooling is necessary. The normal operating temperatures of this device are between 100 and 150-degrees. If you feel that your device is not operating within normal operating temperatures, we recommend you bring your device in to local Best Buy to have the Geek Squad assess the system for you.

Is it worth upgrading the HDD to a SSD, or are the other components not good enough to get the actual performance of the SSD, or should I return it and put the additional $150 To upgrade to get a different laptop with a smaller SSD, ie. Macbook Air?

Please keep in mind, this model is not user upgradable. A certified technician must do all of the work, so as to not void the warranty. That said, a certified technician, like the Geek Squad, can replace the existing HDD with a compatible SSD. Check with your local Geek Squad for pricing. Then compare the cost to upgrade this $229 system versus the $900 cost of a MacBook Air.

Lenovo expert... you answered my question BUT..Best Buys listing says its upgradeable to 16gb..Which is correct? Best Buy is promoting up to 16GB. You said it's capable of 12gb. So, only an 8GB upgrade will work (by a certified technician of course)?

Technically, the configuration support 16GB of RAM, but 4GB of the RAM is soldered to the motherboard so it is not removable/upgradable. There is only one open slot, so practically, you can only upgrade to 12GB.
