How do I get the screen to srop dimming when I disconnect the charger? I have looked up how to do it, but nothing is working. Are there multiple ways to do it? I have tried two different ways and nothing is working.

Yes, this sounds like your power settings are set such that when on battery, the screen dims to use less power. You can change this in the Control Panel. Click on the magnifying glass icon at the bottom left of the screen. Type "Control Panel" in the search window. Click on Control Panel in the list of choices that appears. Type "power" in the Control Panel search window at the top right of the Control Panel Window. Select "Change Power Plan" from the list of options. The power plan you are currently using will be selected and in bold type. Click the "Change Plan Settings" link to the right of the name of your power plan. Here are the settings for when your device is plugged in and when it is on battery. From what you describe, the brightness slider is sett lower when on battery than when plugged in. Be sure the two brightness sliders are the same and your screen won't dim when you go to battery.

Is this a good choice for a college laptop

That will depend on the programs the student will be using for school. The school's web site should provide some basic suggestions for a computer configuration. just purchased my lenovo sku#5828300 laptop open box. whenever i watch netflix or watch a series online it lags/freezes while making a werid sound.

Since this is an open box model, we recommend you bring it in to your local Best Buy and have the Geek Squad evaluate it ASAP.

Does the 320 have dual band wireless? or just 2.4

Your question is link to the Lenovo IdeaPad 110-15 laptop, not the IdeaPad 320-15. The IdeaPad 110-15 has 802.11AC WiFi capability. Only the AC channel is at 5.0GHz. b/g/n WiFi channels are only on 2.4GHz.
