First, yes, you can expand storage by using a microSD card (system supports up to 1TB (exFAT), but the card cannot be used to store system apps. Also, you can connect a phone and sync up messages via the supported platoform, i.e., Google Messages and Photos, or by using the Smart Connect app that's on the M11.
