I turned off the ringer on the base using the volume buttons, and turned off the ringer from the menu buttons, but the corded phone still rings. The display even has the ringer is off but it still rings, also rings during quiet mode.

You can reset the phone by disconnecting the power from the telephone base for a minute. Reconnect and test. Are batteries for all the phones already included? Also is the base" the only one that can connect with the phone cable to the modem for service or can I connect any of the phones to it?

Steph - The VTech IS8151-5 comes with 2.4V NI-MH battery pack for each cordless handset. Only the telephone base requires connection to an electrical outlet and a telephone jack or modem to get a dial tone. The small chargers connect to an electrical outlet only. Thank you! - VTech Support

I have the base with the handset that came with it and a new separate handset . can I set the base and one handset to have just line 2 ring and the additional handset have just line 1 ring? they will be used by different people working from home

Jill - You can turn off the ringer volume on each line for the base and the cordless handsets of the VTech DS6151 but it will still show on the screen that there is an incoming call for both lines. Here's the procedure on how to turn off the ringer volume on the telephone base and each of the cordless handsets.

On the cordless handset:
1. Press the MENU softkey when the handset is not in use.
2. Press ▼ to select RINGERS, then press the SELECT softkey.
3. Press the SELECT softkey to select Ringer volume.
4. Press ▼ to choose Line 1, Line 2 or Lines 1&2. Then press the SELECT softkey.
5. Press ▼ or ▲ to adjust the ringer volume or press the OFF softkey to turn off the ringer. A sample of each ringer volume plays as you scroll through the choices.
6. Press the SET softkey to confirm or press OFF to exit to the previous menu.

On the telephone base:
1. Press the MENU softkey when the telephone base is not in use.
2. Press ▼/CID to select Ringers, then press the SELECT softkey.
3. Press the SELECT softkey to select Ringer volume.
4. Press ▼/CID to choose Line 1, Line 2 or Lines 1&2. Then press the SELECT softkey.

can you shut off the ringer

Wiz - Yes, you can turn off the ringer volume on the cordless handsets and the telephone base of the VTech IS8151-4. Here's the procedure on how to turn off the ringer volume.

On the cordless handset:
1. Press MENU when the phone is not in use.
2. Press ▼CID on the handset to scroll to Ringers, then press SELECT.
3. Press SELECT again to select Ringer volume.
4. Press ▼CID on the handset until you reach the lowest volume level.
5. Press SET to save your preference. There is a confirmation tone and the screen returns to the previous menu.

On the telephone base:
1. Press VOLUME - on the telephone base to set the ringer volume of the telephone base while the phone is not in use.
2. Press SET to confirm and you hear a confirmation tone.

How do you place an outgoing call if you want to use the headset? This is what I am doing...I dial the number on the handset and then i turn on the headset. This creates an echo though. What am I doing wrong?
