can you record a personal phone message on the answering machine? of so how?

Hi - Yes, you can record your personal greeting on the VTech IS8151-4. To record your outgoing announcement:

Step 1: Press MENU when the handset is not in use.
Step 2: Press CID▼ or DIR▲ and highlight Answering sys, then press SELECT.
Step 3: Press SELECT again to select Announcement.
Step 4: The handset will display ANNOUNCEMENT, press RECORD
Step 5: Press STOP when you finish recording.

Hi - The VTech CS6629-3 does not have Caller ID announce feature. You may check the models VTech IS8151-3 and VS113 that have the feature you are looking for.

Does this phone system have a visual indication that you have a voice mail without picking up the phone itself.

Tom - The VTech IS8151-4 does not have a Voicemail light indicator instead has a Voicemail Indicator on the display screen to alert you that you have a new voicemail message from your telephone service provider. The phone also comes with a built-in answering system which has a separate indicator to alert you if you have a new message.

When using myvtech baby 1080p app, can you hear the audio when the app is in the background or not in use?
