Easiest digital camera to use?

I am helping a family member pick a digital camera. I am the one that friends and family go to when they need help picking a digital camera, but this one has me stumped. This person is a slow learner and has a medical condition that causes poor short-term memory. Money isn't really a factor, I just need to help find her a camera that is *extremely simple* to use. I would like it to have a decent amount of megapixels and take high quality pictures. The most important thing is for it to have as *little steps as possible when she wants to take pictures*. These steps cannot be hard to remember. She has been using disposable cameras her whole life and can sometimes get frustrated when she has difficulty remembering and learning new things. The camera menu text should not be too small and it should not be difficult to navigate. I know this is a difficult question and is somewhat of a scavenger hunt, but I'm hoping that someone will be able to provide insight to make it a bit easier for me to help her. Thank you all so much for taking time to read my question and any advice or assistance you may have to offer me.
Hmmmmm....Tricky. I'll see what I can find and get back with an suggestion or three.

i need a camera were i can take pix an the shutter will not close..whuts the best one to get

I'm not sure I exactly follow what your asking...so I'll just go with this thought.
If your are looking for a camera that you can leave the Shutter open on until You want it to close...that is called “Bulb” setting. It is used to take very low light shots and time exposures...and much more....like this Lightning shot. I took this photo with a Canon Digital Rebel (300D) on a tripod with a Wired remote. I love shooting in low light.
Compact cameras do not have enough manual settings to allow this kind of shooting. Some advanced camera might..but ALL D-SLR cameras do.

Take it to your nearest BestBuy and let the Geek Squad take a look. They will let you know if it needs servicing.

what camcorder is best for inside school events and outside t-ball games (no high def)

More and more camcorders are HD...however that does not mean they only shoot in HD. Almost all of them also shoot in SD too. No matter what camcorder you get, look for the highest possible optical zoom. Ones with a very high digital zoom are tempting, but if they have a low optical zoom you'll have a very jagged image when you zoom in tight. Also a image stabilization of some kind is a must for sporting events and low light situations.
Above all look for a camcorder you like the feel of and understand how to operate. Anyone can tell you “This one is sooo simple”...but what is simple for one may not be for others. Take the time with an associate at the demo stand to find one you like. They are happy to help.

looking for the resolutions of each camcorder - where can I find them?

Video and still resolution information is found under the specifications tab on our site. For more information you could go to the manufactures site on the specific camcorder you are interested in.

What camcorder fits me?

I would like to find a camcorder that I could hook up to my tv, yet be able to burn dvds off of. I know that I want it be small and compact.
Any of the DvD or DvD/Memory Hybrids would work for you. The are small, compact and full of features. The Hybrids allow you to record to memory media as well as DvD to increase your record times. All models can be connected to your TV and/or DvD Recorder.

What is the SRL stand for in a digital camera

Single-Lens-Reflex in which you view the scene through the same lens that takes the picture. What you see in the eyepiece is what the Lens sees. Single-Lens means there is only one lens. Not one for the film/sensor and one for the viewfinder. The “Reflex” refers to the mirror/prism that flips out of the way so the image passes through the single-lens and imprints on the film/sensor.

What type of video camera should i buy?

We just had our first kid 3 weeks ago and would like to get a video camera to record all the great firsts. What should we be looking for and how much should we be spending?
This is the time when you will always be asking yourself “ Where's the camera”. There will be first that you will know are going to happen ...and firsts that are surprises. So having 2 cameras would be helpful. One for special events that you can plan for, birthdays, first cake, first spaghetti... a D-SLR would be good for this. It gives you more control and sharper images. And takes faster photos.
Other events that occur as surprises, these might happen when you are out and about. At the mall..or park...taking a walk. You may not want to carry a lager camera and accessories with you. A Compact Camera is handy to have at ALL times to capture those little “life moments”.
There is also many small, and compact video cameras that record to memory media that are great to carry with you.
Always took for a camera/camcorder with the highest Optical Zoom. That way you can take photos/video of your little one from a distance. Once a child is old enough to move around independently and see you are close and have something in your hand they want to come see what it is. With a good, long zoom you can stay out of their area of interest and get those candid type shots.
Good compacts to look for are around the $199-250 range. Keep in the 10 MP (Megapixel) area.
There are many really good entry level D-SLR Cameras in the $499.
Memory based camcorders and DvD/Memory Hybrids can be found in the $250 + price range.
The Hybrids are nice. You can record on either memory and edit on your computer or burn directly to DvD and make copies for relatives.
