I really like this question because the D-SLR is the camera that is perfect for YOU! Compact cameras are great for that spur of the moment type shots. When it comes to a once in a lifetime type shot, when it has to be perfect you need the D-SLR camera. The Nikon D40x package would be a good choice. It comes with TWO lenses. One for close up shots and one for getting in close to the action from far away. You can also add more lenses as your needs grow. The D-SLR camera gives you COMPLETE CONTROL in manual mode and FULL AUTO mode, just like a compact (point and shoot) when you want it. You can also change the sensitivity of the sensor (ISO) to freeze the action as it happens. D-SLR cameras are also much faster when you push the shutter button so no more missed shots. Stop buy the store nearest you and try one. You’ll like the way it feels.

Some menus are regional and need to be purchased in that country. There may be a few manufactures that my include Korean as an “add setup” option. Check with Sony and Hitachi to start with.
