Is a 3 CCD camcorder worth the extra money?

Will the color be that much better?
The color will be much better on the 3ccd. More colors equals more clarity and sharper picture. Only you can decide if it is worth it. Keep in mind that 1ccd is mostly found in consumer grade. 3ccd is more common in pro and broadcast grade for a reason. I would suggest you record the same subject on the same tape (or Dvd) and play it back watching for the change in picture. You'll see the "Jump" in quality.

Can I get names of some editing software?

I would like to edit, enhance & organize my personal footage....is that possible in one program? Any suggestions? I want to do my homework before my visit to a LA Crosse Best Buy store.
There are many editing software packages we carry. Pinnacle makes a great system with capture hardware included. Adobe makes some of the best editing software available. I use Premiere Pro 2.0. I would suggest you try Premiere Elements 4. It is simpler to use and very affordable for first time editors.

What is the best (but cheap) camcorder for online videos?

What camcorder would be best to create youtube videos? nothing to pricey, but decent sound and quality.
We have many camcorders that would be good for that kind of usage. Some even have editing software built in. Check out the Aiptek - Digital Camcorder Model: ICAM 2.4 | SKU: 8495844 to start with. If you need more features you can always move up from there.

How do I get the BEST action shots at a Basketball game?

Can you tell me what are the best settings for a fast paced kids basketball game in a brighlty lit gym from the bleachers.
I am using the Canon Rebel XTi.
Your advice is needed & greatly appreciated. I want those action shots & want to experiment with some manual controls at the same time.
When it comes to action shots the best thing to be is in manual mode with a FAST shutter speed. This will FREEZE the action. To achieve this, the camera should first be set to a HIGH ISO (Film Speed) of 800-1600 making the sensor more light sensitive. This can be found either in the menu settings or a special button on the camera. Next the shutter speed should be at 150 or more (the higher the better). This is what Freezes the action in place. Now looking through the viewfinder there is a meter at the bottom of the viewfinder. Looks like a -2....0....2+ with a little triangle below it. By adjusting your Aperture ( how much light is let in) setting the triangle will go up and down the scale. Try to get it as close to the middle mark as you can and shoot. Games are FAST paced so don’t be disappointed if many shots don’t turn out. The ones you get will be VERY cool and worth the missed shots. Try zooming in and panning (following one player as a target) this is GREAT with action shooting because it blurs the background while keeping the player frozen. Good luck.

Have just started using a DSLR camera and having trouble with pictures being out of focus - even on Auto. Any suggestions?

If this happens even when you are in Auto Focus mode on the camera the AF points may be too few. You can change the auto focus points on the camera. The location of this setting can vary from model to model. Consult your manual as to where this setting is. Other possible causes could be a dirty lens. This will cause focus issues. Check BOTH ends of the lens. It is VERY EASY to get a thumb print on the area that connects to the camera body. If none of these suggestions work the lens itself may be defective. If you have another lens, try it on the camera body. If the photos are still blurry then the camera should be taken to a service center.

What is best setting for an indoor portrait?

I now own a new Canon Rebel XTi but have only used Auto mode up to this point for the Holiday pictures.
I want more control & would like to know what settings & color backdrop I should use for an indoor family portrait. Should I just use portrait mode or use manual settings.
Thanks!!
It is best to use the Manual Mode for “Portrait” type photos. The portrait setting in the camera is just a quick mode with pre-set adjustments. You will want to make your own adjustments as you go. 1) The backdrop should not be too colorful or too busy as this could be distractive in the photo. Muted colors are best. 2) Set your subject about 5-6 feet away from the backdrop. 3) Camera Settings: ISO 200 (Film Speed), Aperture between 9 to 11 (When using a Flash) between 3.5 – 7.1 no flash (This will give you that “Blurry Background look), Put the Camera on a Trypod, Shutter Speed 60 to 90 (Flash). When using NO flash, watch the Meter inside your viewfinder and adjust the shutter speed until it is centered. These are the Basic Setting. Try experimenting from here and have fun.

Will a camcorder hook up to a Samsung HP5073 plasma to view a

Using the A/V (Audio Video) output cables from the camcorder you should be able to plug into any television with A/V inputs. Some camcorders have a HDMI output jack to run to TV's that have HDMI input jacks. You should be able to view both video and stills in this manner. Hope this helps.

What is the difference between a MiniDV and a DVD camcorder?

The Camcorder itself is basically the same. The difference is the recording format. The MiniDv is a small cassette that only records 60(Sp) or 90(Lp) minuets of video. A DvD Camcorder is basically the same but records to a DvD giving you MUCH longer record time and once finalized most will play back on regular DvD players. You can edit your footage from a MiniDv with software and a cable ( some use iLink, Firewire or USB 2.0) Dvd Camcorders are a little trickier to edit with. MiniDV tapes can be erased and used over again. DvD’s once finalized cannot be erased.

How can I get my Camera repaired?

I have a FujiFilm FinePix S5000 it was working fine and now suddenly it won't work--we have tried new batteries and it will only turn on but nothing shows up on the screen or through the eyepiece...it will take pictures but there is only black (even if directly at the light) What can I do?
The FujiFilm FinePix S5000 is an older model. If you have had the Camera for a long time and taken a lot of photos with it, it could be that the shutter has worn out. There is nothing you can personally do other than take to a repair center. New models of cameras have a much better shutter life expectancy, in some cases up to 25000 releases or more.
Since you do not see anything on the LCD or through the eyepiece (which is still just a small monitor) that would indicate the sensor is not being exposed (again the shutter may not be opening up when the camera is switched on). If you have a Performance Service Plan then take the camera to your nearest store to be looked at or you can contact Fuji Film about where to send it.

Is there a site a can go to to key in what I am looking for?

I am trying to find a digital camera that uses 2 AA batteries, has a view finder and in camera cropping/copying. I had in camera that had in camerera cropping with my last Nikon that died and loved that feature but can't seem to find it with any other camera.
Here is what I could find.
Canon - PowerShot
Model: A650 IS
Viewfinder
4 AA Batteries
Canon - PowerShot
Model: SD850 IS
Viewfinder
The PowerShot SD850 IS' Direct Print options include ID Photo Print that automatically generates passport style prints on 4x6 paper with Canon CP type printers as well as ID prints of various sizes (selectable on the camera-menu) and even in-camera image cropping using the camera's monitor.
Rechargeable Batteries
Nikon - Coolpix 8.1MP Digital Camera
Model: S51
NO Viewfinder
In Camera Cropping
Rechargeable Batteries
Hope this helps.
