lost battery

how do I get a battery replaced?
If you do not have the old battery then check under the battery door on the camera for the Battery Model Number. It should be there. It should also be in your owners manual. If all else fails the just take the camera to your nearest store.

What is a SLR Digital Camera versus

What is a SLR Digital Camera versus
a point and shoot cam?
Great Question with a lot of answers. I’ll try to shorten it. Point and Shoot cameras are
by nature a simply to use camera. Just Point…and…shoot. Very slow on the shutter release. Very low on the creative ability. Not the best resolution due to lens and sensor size. However they are compact and easy to carry. They get that “Every Day” things that happen shot.
Digital –SLR are MUCH faster. They give YOU full control over ALL setting for complete creativity. D-SLR cameras have many lens options for unlimited zoom capability and a BIGGER sensor that give you sharper, clearer photos. PLUS D-SLR cameras are also a Point – and – Shoot camera because they have a Full Auto Mode. D-SLR cameras are bigger and slightly heaver giving you a more stable shot. There is a lot more but it does really depend on what you need the camera to do for you. Stop by your nearest BestBuy and try different cameras out. Look for the one that “Feels” right in your hand then work up from there.

Why do some photos come out greenish?

Hi,
My friend sent me a photo and it looks a light greenish. Why?
I don't know if it's a pc camera or a digital camera.
-Thanks
A greenish tint usually shows that the photo was taken under harsh florescent lighting conditions. If the camera was set to “Auto White Balance” then it may not be functioning correctly. If it was not on Auto then it may still be set to a “Pre selected” white balance setting in the menu. Digital Cameras can help correct the white balance when shooting under florescent lights by two ways. 1) Setting the camera in florescent mode in the White Balance area in the menu. 2) By using “Manual White Balancing” in the camera and pointing it at a light green color as a reference. This will compensate for the greenish cast caused by the florescent lights. NOTE: don’t forget to go back to “Auto” mode when NOT under florescent lights again.

Do you have a lay-a-way program

Sorry, we do not have a lay-a-way program at this time. If you haven’t already, try applying for a BestBuy Credit Card at your nearest store or on line.

What is the best digital camera for taking pictures of items to sell on e-bay?

I
Great question! The need quality for photos is a big factor in a successful auction on E-bay. You do have several options to work from. The BEST overall choice is a Digital-SLR Camera. Such as the Canon Digital Rebel XTi or the Nikon D40x. This type of camera gives you total control over how your photo will look. Plus you can still shoot in full auto mode if you like, just like a “point and shoot” camera. Both are at least 10 megepixle. Both come with an 18-55mm lens that will get you wide shots to show the entire item and close up Macro shots to show the detail. Using just a compact camera that only shoots in auto mode will sometimes give you a “washed out” photo due to the Flash going off when not really needed. Shooting with a D-SLR camera lets YOU decide when you want a Flash and the sensor is bigger and more sensitive to light giving you a sharper, clearer picture. Stop by you local store and try one.

I received a digital photo frame for Christmas - how do I transfer the photos already on my pc to a memory card?

First you need a Card Reader on your computer, or attach the Digital Camera to your computer and turn it on. Insert the Memory Card and open “My Computer”, find where you photos that you want to copy “TO” the card are on your computer FIRST. Highlight ALL of the photos you wish to move to the Memory Card and “Copy” (Ctrl + C). Then return to “My Computer” and look for your memory card. Usually it is called “removable media” or has the name of you camera brand next to it. Open it and Paste (Ctrl + V). When done “Right” click over the memory card and select “Eject” to remove the card safely. This should now be ready to use in your photo frame. Hope this helps.

How to view Pic's on LCD screen

I just got a Nikon 10.2Mp Digital SLR Camera for Christmas and Nothing in the user book says how to view from the LCD screen. Can anyone help out?
On the back side of the Camera (usually on the right hand side) there will be a button with a square and a triangle pointing to the right. This is the “Play Photo” button. After you have taken some photos press this button to view. After you have looked at what you want just press the “Shutter” button lightly to return to camera mode or press the play button again. If you want to view on the LCD as you are taking the photos this function is called “Live View” and not all Digital-SLR’s support this. Nikon D300 does support this function.

How do I go about puchasing a memory card for my digial camera

First you'll need to check what memory card it uses. Find the door to the memory slot. Stamped into the plastic should be the type of memory needed. SD (Secure Disk), xD (extreme Digital), CF(Compact Flash)..ect. If you do not find it there check you owners manual. If you still can not find it consult the camera associate at your nearest BestBuy Store. They can help and will have the memory card suited for you camera in store and that can be ordered on line.

How to read HD on my computer ?

I want to buy an HD camcorder working with dvd. I do not have any HD device to read HD dvds yet. My question is: can I link an HD camcorder to my regular laptop to read HD dvds on the camcorder and watch on my laptop screen ?
Thank you for your help !
In general the HD DvD format camcorders use the AVCHD format. This format is a new type of MPEG-4. The cameras come with a conversion program that allows you to view the videos on computers that do not have HD capabilities. Most cameras come with a USB 2.0 connection that lets you transfer the files to you computer. You can also use the AV out to run to your Television/Monitor and some models come with HDMI to connect to HD-TVs. Hope this helps.

Are camcorders also able to take digital pictures?

Yes. All most all camcorders take digital photos. Some store the photos to the DV Tape/DvD/Hard Drive and some have a setting for photo only and send the photos to the removable media such as a SD (Secure Disk) card. Usually there is a “Photo” button on top of the camcorder (near the zoom control) that when pushed takes the photo and saves it to the selected media. The quality of a photo taken on a camcorder is not as good as one from a compact camera and far less than one taken on a Digital-SLR.
