Memory card and computers

When I put my memory card into the computer, the computer doesn't read it. Why not? The same happens when I put it in a machine at the store.
If it is a High Capacity memory card ( such as a SDHC) either the hard reader is SD only or the Operating System ( if it is not Vista or XP) can't recognized the higher capacity.
Or it mighty be faulty memory.
If it works well in the camera and it is SDHC you will either need a SDHC compatible reader or connect to the camera from the computer to see the images.

Where should I take a camera I purchased from Best Buy to be cleaned?

You can take it to your nearest BestBuy and have the Geek Squad take a look at it or to any qualified service center certified for that manufacturer.

Question need for SD card with Hard drive camcorder

What is the need for an SD card with a Hard drive camcorder such as Panasonic HDC-HS250
The SD memory has two functions. It can be used for video storage and can be used for photo storage. This makes it easier to transfer footage to a computer using a card reader or when the camcorder is not available.
The SD memory also is helpful when the Hard Drive is full and you don't have an opportunity to clear up space to record more footage.

What are the top ten digital Camera brands?

Thats a BIG question. It has been debated back and forth for as long as there have been cameras. In the basic compact..consumer arena...Canon, Nikon, Sony, Olympus, Panasonic and a host of others have always traded places in the TOP slots.
D-SLR the top 3 have been Canon, Nikon (trading places regularly) and Sony (the new comer)
In the Professional arena you'll find names like Hasselblad.

Which is best high optical zoom or high Megapixels?

Unless there is a really big difference in Megapixels it is better to have more optical zoom. Yes, you can crop a photo to get just the area that you want to print but you loose Megapixles as you crop. If you have a higher Optical Zoom you can tighten your photo before you shoot and still crop sightly and maintain a higher MP count.

Which camera is better a Panosonic 12.1 Megapixels 5x optical zoom or a Olympus 10.1 Megapixels 7x optical zoom?

Both a very good cameras. It is usually best to go with the higher optical zoom in most cases. You may not notice the 2MP difference in the final photo but you will probably notice having that extra 2x on the zoom.

What type of camera does it all video & stills

Almost all camcorders have a Photo button allowing you to take still images and save them to removable memory. Older Camcorders did not take very good photos. Most were under 1MP quality.
Things have improved quite a bit in the past few years. Some Camcorders are now up to 5MP or better.
However a Digital Camera will always take better Photos than a Camcorder.

How do I transfer video shot with my camera to dvd? Is it possible?

If the video was shot on a Digital Camera and not a Camcorder you can transfer it to your computer just like any other video file and burn a DvD using any compatible software. There may be some converting required, depending on the manufacturer and file type. You may not be happy with the quality of the finale product. Digital Cameras are designed to take photos primary and video is secondary. Higher end D-SLR Cameras, such as the Nikon D90, will shoot in HD. If this is a compact camera you might be disappointed with the end result.

Suggestion on what kind of dvd recorder to purchae

I recently purchased the Sony dr47 but then came home and have read horrible ratings on it. Everyone says that the picture quality is really poor.
I normally tape school functions, baseball games, family outings and holidays. Do you have any suggestions as to what would be better for me? What are the pros and cons of having a memory stick or taping straight to your interanl memory?
Some of the benefits of a memory stick based camcorder is that if you need more record time either get more memory sticks or bigger sticks. If there is repairers needed to do on the camcorder the memory and footage stay with you. The memory based camcorders are smaller and lighter than the DvD and Hard Drive based systems.
If you already have a DvD recorder deck, one that you would use to record TV shows, you can also use it to record footage from the camcorder. Just connect to the A/V (Audio Video) inputs of the deck with the cables that come with the camcorder. This will work with both SD and HD, however the HD will be recorded in Standard Definition. If the DvD player is a Blu-ray, you can copy the AVCHD video file from the camcorder to your computer and burn it directly to a disk (if the computer has a DvD Burner) and play the disk on a Blu-ray player in HD.
