Canon SD890IS

I would like to ask, if or when will Bestbuy carry Canon SD890IS?
There are no plans to carry the SD890IS at this time. Keep checking back.

Do all camera's bought at Best Buy come with a one year warranty automatically? Plus any additional insurance package you choose to buy?

The length of the warranty is determined by the manufacturer. Some are one year and some are less. The Performance Service Plan (PSP) helps insure that the product remains at its best during the ownership. More information on the PSP and its Benefits can be found here: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage...

making "memorial" videos

My friend has terminal cancer and wants to make videos for his loved ones. He would be using a tripod to record. Possibly in some low light conditions. Would need a remote. It would be very important that the video gets recorded and not "lost". Also, perhaps an ability to plug in a mic? Also, easy to edit so if he cries he can remove those moments. Something that can be burned to a dvd?
Anyone have any ideas? I can't spend a lot of money and this is my gift to him for his (perhaps last) birthday.
Thanks
I'm very sorry to hear about your friend. Sony makes some of the most Light Sensitive Camcorders on the market. With the addition of Night Shot (and Super Night Shot) the camcorder will shot in complete darkness. All camcorders (Canon,JVC, Panasonic,..ect..) should come with a wireless remote, however a Mic Input is a very rare option on consumer grade camcorders these days.
Recording reliability is pretty much the same for all models and formats. Editing is best done on a computer but “in Camera” editing can also be done with some practice. Transfer to DvD can be done with a stand alone DvD burner by connecting with the supplied A/V (Audio Video) cables or transferred to a computer for burning later. Best wishes for your friend.

If camcorder says its compatiable with Vista basic, will it work with my Vista Premium?

It should be. Vista Premium has additional features, the basic drivers should be the same. As always it is best to check for the latest updates at both Microsoft and the manufacture of the Camcorder to insure proper function of any device.

I think someone has stolen my camera but I did buy the insurance with that does that cover it or what can I do?

Sorry to hear that your camera may have been stolen. It's great that you got the Performance Service Plan from Best Buy at the time you purchased the camera, unfortunately the coverage provided by that plan does not include replacement if the product is stolen. The Performance Service Plan is designed to keep your product in great working order throughout the life of the plan. If you have household or renter’s insurance, you may want to check with those providers to see if you are covered under their plans for stolen property. If it was stolen from your car you may want to check your auto insurance coverage.

Is it possible to purchase a Best Buy extended Protection Plan online?

The Best Buy Performance Service Plans cannot be purchased separately online - only together with a product when you purchase that product online. To purchase separately, which must be within the original product's return period (typically listed on the product's receipt), please visit your nearest Best Buy store.

i have 2 children ages 4 and 6, i am looking for a digital camera that is both sturdy and easy to use and also inexpensive. what should i get?

Children are the most popular and the most tricky subjects to photograph. Compacts are convenient and easy to carry however you may miss some shots due to shutter lag time. An Advanced Camera will give you some of the features of a D-SLR without the price. You will have more creative control than a compact camera and faster shutter response time. But limited to the attached lens as compared to the interchangeable lenses of a full D-SLR. The D-SLR will give you the most control. No shutter lag time, continues shooting mode (burst mode), stronger flash, unlimited expandability and longer durability. As to “easy to use”....every camera...compact, advanced and yes..even D-SLR has a setting for FULL AUTO where it is just “Point-N-Shot”.

Panasonci HS9 PAL compatible

I am traveling from Ireland to Orlando in the near future and want to buy a PAL compatible camcorder. Is it possible to buy the Panasonic HS9 in the Orange Blossem trail shop?
It might be available but might not be in PAL. It is tricky to find the PAL format in the States. You might want to get the Camcorder before you leave Ireland.

What is the best digital camera that also shoots long videos of good quality?

Some Advanced Cameras such as Canon – PowerShot, Kodak - EasyShare and others will record lengthy video clips. The common screen size is limited to 640x480. Some will record in what they call HD but is still not a true Video Resolution. The video formats also vary. Some recording in AVI format and some in Quicktime MPEG-4 and so on. Digital cameras are designed to take Photos at the best quality they can. Video is just an added feature for sending over the internet. Video camcorders take photos too, but the quality is not as good as a true digital photo camera.
If your looking to shoot long video clips, 5mins or longer, you may want to look at a camcorder that will take photos at a quality you will find acceptable.

Any suggested brands for a Digital Camcorder under $500

I am looking for an inexpensive Digital Camcorder to tape my sons birth next week. I don't have a lot of money, and I would like to be able to transfer the video to my computer to burn a DVD. Any suggested brands under $500?
There are many good camcorders under $500 from all the major manufactures that will take care of recording this happy occasion. If you want to Edit the footage on a computer it will be easier to work with miniDV, other formats may need conversion. You can get a DV bridge such as the Dazzle from Pinnicle that will capture your footage through the USB port, regardless of what format it was recorded on, and then you can edit and burn a DvD. If editing is not a concern you could either get a camcorder that is DvD based or get, if you don't already have, a stand alone DvD recorder that you can just connect the camcorder directly to and record a DvD.
