Need the best digital camera for a safari

I'm going on an African Safari and have never had a digital camera. I'm thinking of a DSLR... but which one gives the best/highest optical zoom with the fastest pictures per second in all diff. kinds of light? Price range between $300-600. Please let me know soon
That sounds very exciting! You should get some wonderful photo opportunities. As to what camera to get you have several choices. Canon, Nikon, Olympus and Sony all have D-SLR models under the $600 range. They all have about the same average frame rate, about 3-4 FPS (Frames Per Second). Amount of megapixels vary a lot. The Nikon being the lowest (6mp) with Sony being the highest (10.1mp).
Low light situations can be handled by changing the ISO setting on the camera. The ISO is how sensitive the sensor is to light.
I would strongly suggest that you get an additional lens. A 300mm zoom lens will allow you to get wonderful closeup shots without getting close to your subject. It will also get you a soft DOF (Depth of Field) for that blurry background look. There is some times in store specials where you get a bundle purchase. The camera with standard lens plus the 300mm zoom lens at a price under $600.
Have a safe and fun trip!

Digital & standard camera combined

Are there any digital & standard cameras all in one?
There are not very many Digital/Film combination cameras but there are a few. KODAK PLUS DIGITAL, POLAROID I-ZONE, PANORAMIC VISION 16, and Leica R9.
Some manufactures like Hasselblad and Mamiya have interchangeable backs that allows the use of either Digital or film (35mm to medium and large format).

WHAT IS THE BEST KNID OF CAMCORDER TO GET?

AS IN LIKE A DVD ONE,MINI DV ONE,A HARD DRIVE ONE,A HD ONE,OR A FLASH MEMORY ONE
They all have different benefits depending on the needs you have for the camcorder. If editing is important to you a MiniDV is the easiest to edit with. If you need a VERY small camcorder than the Flash based camcorders are some of the smallest made. Record lengths vary with DvD being the shortest (30mins at QH) and Hard Drive based being the longest. Quality of the video will depend on size and amount of CCDs (Video Chip) and if High Definition or Standard Definition. I use a MiniDV for my editing and a Flash Based for daily carry.

Which standard digital camera has the most internal memory?

Very few cameras have internal memory. Generally a digital camera that has internal memory is for safety, just in case your memory stick is full or you forgot to put one in. 32mg to 64mg is usually the normal amount. Some cameras have 1 to 2 gig, however cameras with this much memory usually do not have any memory slot for expansion and you will have to transfer the photos to a computer or have prints made to clear the memory for next use.

Can I use a camcorder bought in the USA in Spain?

I would like to know the possibilities of using a camcorder bought in your shop with NTSC system in Spain with PAL sistem. It depends on my TV adjustments? Is there any camcorder compatible with pal system?
Regards from Spain.
The short answer is yes you can use a camcorder bought in the US in Spain, however, play back on a TV in Spain will be a problem. There is a quite a difference between NTSC and PAL. Screen resolution..NTSC is 720x480 (4:3) vs PAL at 720x576 and frame rate of 30fps(Frames Per Second) for NTSC and 25fps for PAL. There is a conversion solution for you. You can get a USB capture system for your computer and convert your NTSC to PAL to play back on your TV. Go to www.bestbuybusiness.com and search for “PAL video” and look at your options. Some are just USB capture cables that are simple to use and should resolve your conversion issue.

Digital 8 deck source?

The answer to the question "playing back 8mm digital tapes" references using a Digital 8 deck as an option to a Digital 8 camcorder. Where can these Digital 8 decks be sourced if a Digital 8 camcorder cannot be found?
Most of the Digital 8 equipment is no longer manufactured. However there are several Digital 8 deck and camcorder models still available, new and used/refurbished. Sony decks GV-D200 and GV-D800 with monitor to name a few. These can be found by Googeling “ Digital 8 vcr ” and also at Craigslist and Ebay .

How do i fix my HP Photosmart R937?

my HP (touch screen) photosmart R937 does not work due to fact that the sliding door of the battery port does not close anymore
Best thing to do is take it to your nearest BestBuy and have the Geek Squad take a look. Depending on the age of the unit and if there was a Performance Service Plan (PSP) or Product Replacement Plan (PRP) you may be covered for repair or replacement.

settings

which cameras dont make clicking noise when taking pictures? also, whichcameras can be set to not flash?
Almost all cameras can be set to silent mode. That is no click and beeps and chimes. This usually is found in the menu area. As for turning off the flash, if you get a compact camera you might not have an option to turn this off. Compact cameras make ALL decisions for you and it wants a flash it is going to use it. If it can disabled it you might find that option in the menu area also. If you get a Advanced or Digital-SLR you get to make the decisions. Just set the camera in anything but “Auto” that way you can decide if you want the Flash to fire or not.

analog hi-8 and digital hi-8

i use my sister's sony digital hi-8 camcorder but found out later that my samsung analog camcorder would'nt playback the tape.vice versa, our tape recorded on samsung when played back on that digital cam run nicely on tv,but on its lcd display the picture was really distorted, will this pose a problem transferring the tape to dvd?thanks a lot.!
Video shot on a Digital 8 will not play back on a Standard Hi8 camcorder. They are two totally different and incompatible formats. All you will probably see is snow on the LCD screen. Most Digital 8's will play back Hi8 and 8mm analog tapes. They do a conversion for you. Tapes recorded in Extended mode for longer record times may have a little problem playing back. As to the distortion on the LCD screen, if the video looks correct on the TV using the A/V (Audio Video) outputs from the camcorder your transfer to a stand alone DvD recorder should look fine.
