what the best camera out the right now

i might get a sony cyber shot DSC-T300 but i'm not sure
That is a hard question to answer. There is really not a BEST Camera. All have features that will make one camera more appealing for some than others. It is better to look at the track record of the manufacturing company. Do they have popular models and good customer reviews, innovators of technology or just copy cats, and how often models are returned due to problems and defects. This camera will be YOUR camera. Look for what is BEST for you.

Canon EOS Rebel XTI vs Nikon D60

Both SLR cameras have comparable specs and prices. Which do you recommend? I'm taking a cruise and want to shoot lots of pictures.
Sounds FUN! You may also want to consider the Sony a300 or a350. All 3 brands are very, very good cameras. Each have excellent features. You cant' go wrong with any of them. I shoot with both Canon 40D and Sony a200 (wish I had gotten the a350). Moisture and Spray will be an issue so make sure to get a ND (Neutral Density) Filter to help protect the lens and a camera that is Weather Resistant and or a camera cover such as Camera Armor. Take extra batteries.

I accidently reformated my disk

When I reformated my disk I lost all the vacation pics I had. I did take some new pics. Have I lost all of my pics from the beginning by taking new pictures? Can I retrive my first pics?
I have had this happen more than once. Both accidental erasure and memory errors. Chances are you may be able to recover some of the photos. There is several File Recovery programs available. I use R-Studio. You could take the memory to you nearest BestBuy and have the Geek Squad see what they can recover.

What does card protected mean?

Some Memory cards have a tiny slider along one edge that when set to “Protect” will disable the write function so no photos can be added to the memory. Just slide it to the other position. Some cameras also have this as a menu option to “Write Protect” the memory as a safe guard. Just re-enable the write function.

Shutter Speed

i need to know what camera has the fastest shutter speed that is less than 200 dollars. i dont need a real fancy camera but i am trying to take pictures of my baby and i always seem to miss the shot i am trying to get.
The missed shot is probably due to shutter “Lag” time rather than shutter speed. The Lag time is how much delay there is between when you push the shutter button...the camera checks focus...sets ISO speed...sets Aperture and Shutter...then finally takes the photo. By this time what you wanted to catch has already passed. This is one of the drawbacks to the compact cameras. Unfortunately the more inexpensiveness the camera is the longer this delay is. If you don't want to get involved with the D-SLR cameras I would suggest a Advanced Digital. You will get many of the features and speed of the D-SLR and still be under $350 or so.

how do I delete the pictures

Put you camera in “Play” mode, when you come to a photo you do not want push the button that looks like a “Trash Can”. The camera will ask you to “delete or cancel”..select “delete”. It may ask if you are sure ...select “yes”. If you want to remove ALL photos you can “Format” the memory. This should be found some where in the menu area, usually under an icon that looks like a wrench.

What is the difference btwn JVC camcorders and the JVC Everio camcorders?

JVC Everio were the first ever HDD (Hard Drive Disk) Camcorders made for consumers. Other JVC models are Tape, DvD or Flash based.

what is the best digital camcorder to purchase for my kids sports activities?

A D-SLR would be best. You need a good Optical...not Digital...Zoom (200mm or 300mm) so you can zoom in tight on the action. Also you will need to be able to set a high ISO (Film/Sensor Speed) to be able freeze the action. A D-SLR will give you control over all this and more whereas a Compact Camera will not.

What do you suggest I buy...

My son is graduating from Airborne School and I just found out the ceremony ends with the class jumping out of a plane. I want to get this shot - so I know I'll need a really good zoom - I would need something that would be good in overcast situations (since I won't know how the weather will be) and this is something I'm thinking I'll use maybe twice a year? I saw the Canon HF10 on sale for under $1000 but I really don't wanna spend that nor do I want something that's going to be grainy...don't want much do I-LOL. Thanks for your help
Hmmmm...Tricky. Regardless of the Camcorder you get you will need a tri-pod to stabilize the camera.
Look for the highest Optical zoom to avoid any pixelization and distortion of the video. It looks like the Canon HF10 has a decent zoom (12x) but a 16x-20x would be better. Good luck.

what is the best memory card for a casio camera?

Without knowing the exact model I could only assume it would be SD (Secure Disk). Depending on the age of the camera you may be limited as to what size (how many gigs) to only 1 or 2 gig in size. The brand will not matter as long as it does not exceed the amount of memory the camera can use.
