What recording format would be better for recording mountainbike videos?

I am looking for a camera that besides being a family filming camera, I can also hook a helmet camera to it and record action footage. Would a dvd skip while recording if it is bounced around in a back pack?
You may have just a little TOO much vibration for a DvD and a MiniDV camcorder. You might want to look at a Memory Card Based camcorder. Vibrations would not be an issue with these since there is no moving parts.

What equitment should I get to upload a video on to my Windows Vista Laptop?

I was wondering what to buy to upload my movies on to my computer so I can edit it and post it on the internet. My cousin has it but he has a desktop, a different camera and a cord to hook it up to but it doesn't fit in any part of my camera. I have a Windows Vista Laptop and it comes with the editing program but I can't get ny movies on the computer.
This would depend on your computer. Some have a Firewire (IEEE 1394 or iLink) connection. It also depends on if your camcorder uses USB or Firewire. If you can please post a little more information:

Camcorder memory card question

Can the canon zr950 camcorder take pictures using a regular secure digital memory card
it says a secure digital high capacity (SDHC), but i just want to know if you can use a regular secure digital memory card.
The SDHC slot is backwards compatible. Follow this link for more information about SDHC:

hard drive vs dvd

I am about to purchase my very first camcorder and i'm wondering which is better, a DVD or Hard Drive Format? I have no clue which one to choose. I am choosing between two...the Sony Handycam DVD Camcorder-Silver or the Sony-Handycam Camcorder. Any comments/suggestions?
What you want to do with your finale footage could influence which camcorder would be best for you. If you want to edit the footage the Hard Drive based camcorder would be easier. DvD based camcorders would be better if you just want to record your footage and just play it back. Record time is a factor too. The DvD camcorders have a shorter record time, then you have to replace the DvD with a blank DvD to continue shooting. The Hard Drive camcorders will shot for hours, depending on the size of the hard drive. Whenever you are ready you can transfer the footage to your computer or stand alone recorder, erase the hard drive and shot more footage.

20 GB vs. 30 GB ?

Is there much difference between the two? I will be using the camcorder just on special ocasions. so, will 20 GB be enough? or is it worth investing in 30 GB?
It is always Better to have more storage. Even if you don't think you need it. That 10 gig difference could mean several hours of video. If the cost is nominal than it is worth investing.

i have a 7.1 mpixel camera

i have a 7.1 mpixel camera..which memory card would be best to hold the most pictures?
Depending on the age, make and model of the camera, you may be limited on what size you camera may use. Some cameras can only take up to 2gig. Consult you owners manual as to your limits. If you do not have your manual, most manufactures have their manuals available on line.

buying first camcorder

we are about to buy our first camcorder and their are so many to choose from it is hard to know which one. Not sure we need anything fancy since we are new at this but just a basic one that takes good pictures and is small. any ideas?
Your correct in there are many to choose from. It would be hard to say..”This is the right one for you”.
It is best to go to your nearest BestBuy and try some different models out. Get a FEEL for the camera. It is going to spend a lot of time in your hand so find one that feels good to you. Most of the cameras have similar features. Some things to look for are: Highest OPTICAL zoom before it goes to digital zoom. 10X or higher optical is best. Steady or Image stabilization is good. Helps when you do not want or have a tripod with you. A large LCD screen. Helps to see the shot better and is a little bit easer to see in sunlight.

Pictures on LCD not viewable outside

Is there an accessory I can buy for my Kodak EasyShare Z1285 that will let me see what I am taking when I am outside. When I look at my LCD screen outside the screen is dark. I just purchased this camera and I am thinking about returning it.
There are Hoods of various sizes available on line. Theses hoods attach to the camera and fold out giving you shade to make the LCD screen more visible. They come in different sizes so make sure to get the one that fits your camera screen. Search for “ Kodak EasyShare Z1285 hood ” on Google.

Which is better? Canon zr900 or the JVC grd870.

Which is better the "canon zr900" or the "jvc grd870" (basically the grd850 with an upgrade to an sd/mmc card slot)
Based on:
- picture/sound quality
- zoom capabilities
I would recommend that you read through consumer reports and look at the customer reviews at BestBuy.com.
