20 GB vs. 30 GB ?

Is there much difference between the two? I will be using the camcorder just on special ocasions. so, will 20 GB be enough? or is it worth investing in 30 GB?
It is always Better to have more storage. Even if you don't think you need it. That 10 gig difference could mean several hours of video. If the cost is nominal than it is worth investing.

i have a 7.1 mpixel camera

i have a 7.1 mpixel camera..which memory card would be best to hold the most pictures?
Depending on the age, make and model of the camera, you may be limited on what size you camera may use. Some cameras can only take up to 2gig. Consult you owners manual as to your limits. If you do not have your manual, most manufactures have their manuals available on line.

buying first camcorder

we are about to buy our first camcorder and their are so many to choose from it is hard to know which one. Not sure we need anything fancy since we are new at this but just a basic one that takes good pictures and is small. any ideas?
Your correct in there are many to choose from. It would be hard to say..”This is the right one for you”.
It is best to go to your nearest BestBuy and try some different models out. Get a FEEL for the camera. It is going to spend a lot of time in your hand so find one that feels good to you. Most of the cameras have similar features. Some things to look for are: Highest OPTICAL zoom before it goes to digital zoom. 10X or higher optical is best. Steady or Image stabilization is good. Helps when you do not want or have a tripod with you. A large LCD screen. Helps to see the shot better and is a little bit easer to see in sunlight.

Pictures on LCD not viewable outside

Is there an accessory I can buy for my Kodak EasyShare Z1285 that will let me see what I am taking when I am outside. When I look at my LCD screen outside the screen is dark. I just purchased this camera and I am thinking about returning it.
There are Hoods of various sizes available on line. Theses hoods attach to the camera and fold out giving you shade to make the LCD screen more visible. They come in different sizes so make sure to get the one that fits your camera screen. Search for “ Kodak EasyShare Z1285 hood ” on Google.

Which is better? Canon zr900 or the JVC grd870.

Which is better the "canon zr900" or the "jvc grd870" (basically the grd850 with an upgrade to an sd/mmc card slot)
Based on:
- picture/sound quality
- zoom capabilities
I would recommend that you read through consumer reports and look at the customer reviews at BestBuy.com.

Can you suggest a digital camera that takes fast pictures that are really sharp?

Quality of sharpness is almost a user preference. What I feel is a sharp picture some may find slightly soft. You can always sharpen a photo using the software included with most cameras, or use a separate photo editing program. The best thing to do is take some compatible memory cards with you to the store and take a few photos on the cameras you are interested in and view the photos at home for a comparison. You can also sometimes find photos on line to do a comparison but they have been prepped for the web and it is better to see the original image.

what equipment is best for converting hi8 to dvd format

If you still have a functioning camcorder, the best way is to connect it directly to a stand alone DvD Recorder. The next but more timely and complicated option is the Dazzle from Pinnicle Systems. This is device that bridges between analog devices and the digital world allowing you to capture your video on the computer. You than can edit if required and burn a DvD.

Charger

Is there a way i can a get a charger for my camera. if i lost the original one?
Yes. The original charger should be available from the manufacturer. There are universal chargers as an option. If your camera charges the battery while it is in the camera there is also a universal power adapter.

What does SLR mean?

Single Lens Reflex.
This means there is one single lens feeding the camera's film/sensor and the viewfinder, as apposed to cameras that have a lens the goes to the film/sensor and a small “peep hole” like opening that is offset to one side of the camera. These style cameras are usually referred to as “Rangefinders”.
There is a small mirror, in most SLRs, that reflects the image from the lens to the viewfinder. When the shutter button is pushed, the mirror "Flips" out of the way allowing the film/sensor to be exposed to the image.
In a SLR camera, you see exactly what the film/sensor will see. In a Rangefinder type camera there will always be a little difference between what you see and what you get.
