Does built in memory effect how fast the camera takes pictures?

Not as much as you would think. What really effects the speed of the camera is how fast it writes out to the memory card and clears the buffer to ready itself for the next photo. Compact cameras are very slow in doing this compared to Digital-SLR cameras. Getting the fastest rated compatible memory for your camera will increase the write speed.

HELP PLZ?

Well I want to get a camcorder.
I have to stay in a $500 budget.
I need something that i can post on you tube and wont mess up my computer.
I also need long recording times and ability to skip to a certain scene or video.
What should I get?
Please answer.
There are several Flash Memory based camcorders that should fit your needs. Flash memory can be “skipped” to without fast forwarding and rewinding as in tape based systems. Canon has several to choose from under $500. Stop by your local BestBuy and try one out.

Is there a cord that connects directly to PC to camera

Generally yes. The camera should have some type of USB port and the cable should have been included with the camera. Check the owners manual about included items. If it lists a cable and you just recently purchased the camera take the cable and the receipt back to the store and explain that the cable is missing.

Megapixels and dpi

I currently have a 6 MP camera and am looking at buying a 10-12 MP camera. My printer prints at 4800 X 1200 dpi. Is that good enough for printing photos from a 10-12 MP camera?
Depending on the size you plan to print that should more than enough. The higher pixel will give you better results. If you would like to print Larger Formats, such as poster size, there are several printers available at the store and on line at BestBuy.com.

Firewire cable question?

What kind of firewire cable do i need for the canon zr900
and What kind of firewire cable do i need for the JVC grd850
on my computer is what looks like a 6 pin firewire port
It should be a standard Firewire port (IEEE 1394). It might be a Mini Port (iLink). Bring your camcorders to your nearest BestBuy so they can match up the right cable.

what camcorders take pictures too?

I'm looking for a camcorder that can work as a camera too for my vacations.
Almost ALL camcorders take Photos. However they are generally of a much lesser Megapixel than an actual Digital Camera. Most camcorders are 1 to 3 megapixel. There are a few that have 5 and 6.

Recover digital pics

Canon Rebel owner and hit format and now unable to recover pictures.
Is there a recovery software or way to reverse this?
Yes. As long as you have not taken ANY more pictures the data should still be there on the CF card. The Rebel has no internal memory, it stores on the card only. There is many Data Recovery programs available. Install one and use a card reader to access the memory card and you should be able to recover the deleted files.

I am looking to buy my first camcorder.

I want to buy a camcorder but am confused as to which type to buy. I am looking for something easy to use that is also comfortable. I need something that is good for vacations and family events. Something not to expensive. Also which brands are recommended for both quality and durability.
Sony camcorders are rugged, reliable work horses. They also have some of the sharpest images thanks to the Carl Zeiss Lenses. Canon and Panasonic are also some of the Top manufactures of camcorders. There is also many types of media to record too. Anywhere from memory card to DvD and Hard Drives. Each having different advantages. If you plan to edit your video than DvD based camcorders are a little trickier to edit with than say a Memory, Tape or Hard Drive based camcorder. All manufactures make camcorders that feel different and have different lay outs of where controls are. It would be hard for me to say what would be comfortable in your hand. It would be best for you to stop by your nearest BestBuy and try several models out to see what best suits You.
