Can you suggest a digital camera that takes fast pictures that are really sharp?

Quality of sharpness is almost a user preference. What I feel is a sharp picture some may find slightly soft. You can always sharpen a photo using the software included with most cameras, or use a separate photo editing program. The best thing to do is take some compatible memory cards with you to the store and take a few photos on the cameras you are interested in and view the photos at home for a comparison. You can also sometimes find photos on line to do a comparison but they have been prepped for the web and it is better to see the original image.

what equipment is best for converting hi8 to dvd format

If you still have a functioning camcorder, the best way is to connect it directly to a stand alone DvD Recorder. The next but more timely and complicated option is the Dazzle from Pinnicle Systems. This is device that bridges between analog devices and the digital world allowing you to capture your video on the computer. You than can edit if required and burn a DvD.

Charger

Is there a way i can a get a charger for my camera. if i lost the original one?
Yes. The original charger should be available from the manufacturer. There are universal chargers as an option. If your camera charges the battery while it is in the camera there is also a universal power adapter.

What does SLR mean?

Single Lens Reflex.
This means there is one single lens feeding the camera's film/sensor and the viewfinder, as apposed to cameras that have a lens the goes to the film/sensor and a small “peep hole” like opening that is offset to one side of the camera. These style cameras are usually referred to as “Rangefinders”.
There is a small mirror, in most SLRs, that reflects the image from the lens to the viewfinder. When the shutter button is pushed, the mirror "Flips" out of the way allowing the film/sensor to be exposed to the image.
In a SLR camera, you see exactly what the film/sensor will see. In a Rangefinder type camera there will always be a little difference between what you see and what you get.

Does built in memory effect how fast the camera takes pictures?

Not as much as you would think. What really effects the speed of the camera is how fast it writes out to the memory card and clears the buffer to ready itself for the next photo. Compact cameras are very slow in doing this compared to Digital-SLR cameras. Getting the fastest rated compatible memory for your camera will increase the write speed.

HELP PLZ?

Well I want to get a camcorder.
I have to stay in a $500 budget.
I need something that i can post on you tube and wont mess up my computer.
I also need long recording times and ability to skip to a certain scene or video.
What should I get?
Please answer.
There are several Flash Memory based camcorders that should fit your needs. Flash memory can be “skipped” to without fast forwarding and rewinding as in tape based systems. Canon has several to choose from under $500. Stop by your local BestBuy and try one out.

Is there a cord that connects directly to PC to camera

Generally yes. The camera should have some type of USB port and the cable should have been included with the camera. Check the owners manual about included items. If it lists a cable and you just recently purchased the camera take the cable and the receipt back to the store and explain that the cable is missing.

Megapixels and dpi

I currently have a 6 MP camera and am looking at buying a 10-12 MP camera. My printer prints at 4800 X 1200 dpi. Is that good enough for printing photos from a 10-12 MP camera?
Depending on the size you plan to print that should more than enough. The higher pixel will give you better results. If you would like to print Larger Formats, such as poster size, there are several printers available at the store and on line at BestBuy.com.
