Is DVC a model name for a particular brand or is it a type of camcorder/camera combination?

I saw an ad for a digital camera/camcorder and didn't know if it is actually one unit or 2.
If it said DVC, that stands for Digital Video Cassette, not a brand name. There is a brand JVC which does make digital cameras.

How do get the date to show on my picture on a Sony DSC-H3?

The Sony DSC-H3 does not have a Date/Time Stamp function. You could open the photo in a photo editing program (such as Adobe Elements) and under “File Info” find the encoded date and time information and then overlay it using the editing program.

Canon A720IS or Sony W80

Which camera would you recommend for an indoor concert? Great reviews on the Canon A720IS and Sony W80.
You already have found two of the best. I would lean toward the Canon. It has 8 megapixel vs Sony 7.1. It has a higher optical zoom (higher always is better). The plus on both cameras is the optical viewfinder. This is a great feature when concert shooting as you will find out.

Canon A720IS or Sony W80

I am planning to go see a few concerts and my old Sony Cybershot is finally dying out on me. I was doing research and found the Canon A720IS and Sony W80 with good reviews. Which (affordable) camera would you suggest for concerts and action shots?

which is good?

i need a camcorder, which is easy to handle with and i would like to shot in india.i need the necessary things like converter and plug pin r whatever.iam new to this.please suggest me what to buy.iam confused with mini dvd,dvd..what to buy
I would suggest a Hard Drive based camcorder or a Memory based camcorder. Tapes and /or DvDs may not be readily available in many areas of India. With a Memory or Hard Drive based system you could transfer the footage you record to a computer (such as a laptop) and erase the Memory or Hard Drive and continue recording. There is also Hard Drive based Camcorders the have 30gb, 60gb and higher that you may not run out of space to record on. As for power issues in India, there are several power converters available, take a look at the Jensen - 1,600-Watt Foreign Voltage Converter at bestbuy.com. Hope this helps lessens the confusion.

I am a semi professional photographer that wants to upgrade equipment. I have a Canon now but was thinking about switching to Nikon.

What brand is better and why? Is it true the Nikon payrts are all metal while Canon is not 100% metal. Which model of Nikon would be best to buy and lens. I shoot everything including sports.
When it comes down to it Canon and Nikon are the preferred cameras by field photographers. They are rugged, reliable and get Great shots. I shoot on Canon, and have been very happy with my Digital Rebel and 40D (extremely cool camera). I have friends that soot on Nikon D40(sweet but small), D70, and D200. Canon has the larger selection of lenses. Nikon does have a little more metal parts. Neither are ALL 100% metal. You can’t go wrong with either brand.

How can I go about getting my camera fixed if I don't have my receipt & warranty information in my possession?

Hi, I recently dropped my camera & am getting a "lens error" message when I turn it on. My boyfriend purchased the camera and extended warranty for me this past Dec '07. However, I am away at school right now and the receipt and warranty info is at my house. Can I go to my local Best Buy here and still get the camera fixed, even though the warranty info is not in my possession? Please let me know, thanks!
You can contact 888-BestBuy to obtain a copy of your receipt. When you call, select the Concierge option for assistance. Customer care will be able to assist you in getting a copy of your receipt.

Can I still get a camera for shooting black & white pictures?

I have no idea if digital cameras have any type of card or something to produce B&W photos or if I need to hunt down the good old fasioned kind that uses film.
There are many manufactures with both Compact and Digital–SLR cameras that have models with B/W (Black and White or Monochrome) settings. Both my Canon 40D and Sony a200 have B/W settings. When you look at a camera, check if it has “Creative Mode” this is likely to be a good area to find a Monochrome, Sepia or Black and White setting. Even if the camera has features you like but does not have B/W mode you can just transfer the photo to the computer with the supplied disk of software and “remove” the chrominance or set color saturation to 0 to make it a Black and White. This way you will still have the Color original intact.

what is the best video camera for recording highschool football games?

Look for a high zoom factor. The higher optical the better. The trick with shooting games is the action is FAST. A camcorder with higher shutter speeds will help with seeing that action. Look for models with at least these features and you be fine.

How do I tell which camera has the best zoom features?

I am a concert goer and I want a digital camera with great zoom features. I would like the camera to be somewhat compact but not necessarily a very slim camera. I am not sure of the difference between optical and digital zoom.
The difference between zooms are: Optical is like a magnifying glass. Zooming in is like moving the magnifying glass closer to your subject. Digital Zoom is when you have ran out of optical and you now just ENLARGE you subject. This makes the picture Jagged and Pixelated. When looking for a camera or camcorder, look for the highest Optical zoom before it gets to digital. Also a larger diameter lens. This lets in more light, more light means sharper image. Canon, Panasonic and Sony have Advanced cameras that are a little bigger than a compact, but not as big as a full Digital-SLR. They also have 10x or above Optical zooms.
