Mini DV or Flash Memory

I am looking for a camcorder to take with me to events for school etc. I am not looking to spent as much money as it takes to get a DVD camcorder. I am torn between the MiniDV and the Flash Memory. I am looking for a camcorder though that I can edit the contents on a computer.
For school events the most convenient choice would be Flash Memory based units. Flash will also be easier to transfer video and faster to re-format. The memory captured footage is already in a editable format and there is less transfer time to the computer. MinidDV is a realtime transfer and you may have to have a Firewire (IEEE 1391) port on your computer to connect to the camcorder.

WHAT IS MEANT BY FLASH?? CARD

what is the difference of sd and flash?
Let’s define Flash Memory first. Flash memory is a type of memory that retains what is stored on it after power is removed. CF (Compact Flash), SD (Secure Data), xD (Extreme Digital Picture Card) and a host of others are all forms of Flash Memory. There is little difference other than physical size and speed.

Question of high definition cameras?

Do you need a high definition connection and tv and stuff to watch you video from a high definition camera or can you just have higher quality video with a high def camera and not have the full high def experience
You will get the best picture if you can connect using the HDMI connection. A High Def
Camcorder, recorded in HD, will still give you a slightly better image than a Standard Definition and some cropping may occur. But for best results try to match components.

how to transfer video movies to computer using Corel Application and how to burn to DVD?

I have a Canon HG10 camcorder and Toshiba satellite laptop. I am trying to follow the instruction/steps but still I cannot transfer and burn? Can somebody help me.
Which version of operating system are you using? Windows XP, Vista- Home –Premium-Ultimate? Some programs may need updated service packs installed in the operating system before they will run correctly. Also try changing the cable and the ports you are connecting with, sometimes this simple change can correct connection issues.

old 8 mm camcorder how to convert

My sony camcorder died and I want to transfer all the 8mm tapes to a dvd. I have the burner but I need a device that fits the tape so it can go into my vcr to be converted. Does best buy sell this?
There is no adapter to covert a 8mm tape to VHS (1/2 inch) tape players. The formats are completely incompatible. If you can, get a Digital 8. These camcorders will also play back 8mm and Hi 8 tapes. This would allow you to plug into a stand alone DvD recorder or connect to a computer and capture your footage.

Do they make digial cameras that can be charged with a car charger?

There are some cameras that charge thru the USB port on the camera and there are some Auto Accessory to USB Adapter. The safest way is with a DC to AC Power Inverter and just plug the camera charger into this. You can find the inverter at your local BestBuy.

what is the best digital camera for sporting event?

I have gone to sporting events and need a camera that can take pictures of action shots. My camera cant zoom in close enough and cant take clear stable pictures.
Can you tell me what camera either slim or dsr would be the best for sporting events?
Sporting events means fast, ever changing action. The camera you need to get this shot is a D-SLR. The Nikon D40x package would be a good choice. It comes with 2 lenses. One for close up shots and one for getting in close to the action from far away. You can also add more lenses as your needs grow. The D-SLR camera gives you complete control in manual mode and full auto mode, just like a compact (point and shoot) when you want it. You can also change the sensitivity of the sensor (ISO) to freeze the action as it happens. This also helps make more stable pictures. D-SLR cameras are also much faster when you push the shutter button and have rapid shot to catch the full range of motion.

What is the best camera for stop motion action?

I need a camera with the stop motion action feature in it. What is the best one for the lowest price?
Check out the Canon GL2, it has Interval recording which allows for the capture of time elapsed motion videography (stop motion). The GL2 can be programmed to record at various intervals for varying amounts of time. This referred to as a Pro-sumer grade camcorder. You can find the Canon GL2 at www.BestBuyBusiness.com
Another way to do stop motion is with a Digital Camera. Take one photo per frame movement and edit them together as a sequence in an editing program such as Adobe Premier or Window Movie Maker.

Formatting mini DVDs in a Sony

I bought the Sony DVD308 camcorder and when I first inserted the DVD, I was asked to format it to one of 2 ratios (I can't remember specifically what the 2 choices were, but one was widescreen). How do I know what format to choose? If I choose the widescreen format, can I change it after it's formatted?
The two choices were Widescreen (16:9) and Standard (4:3). Once you have shot the video in Widescreen it is forever in Widescreen. Played back on a standard set you will either get a tall looking picture or, on some sets, a letterbox effect. You can mix Wide and Standard on one disk by changing the format ratio before recording.

I have a HP Pavvillion dv9000 laptop and was wondering what do i need to connect my memory stick ( sony ) digital camera to save pictures on my laptop

Depending on the model of camera, you should be able to connect directly to the computer thru the cameras USB connection port. If you do not have the cable for the camera, then stop by you local BestBuy to get the correct cable. Another option is a Multi Card reader that plugs into your computer. Sony uses several different memory sticks so look for a card reader that works with your stick or get a converter for your memory stick.
