if i want to load my pic from my camera to my computer what is that cable called?

Depending on your camera it should use either a USB cable that plugs directly into your camera or a docking station that plugs into the USB port on your computer and your camera connects to the station. If it is USB, then the connector on your camera may be specific to your manufacturer and may have to be ordered from them. Unless you need the cable/station to charge the camera it is better to get a Multi Card Reader. This allows you to upload your photos and not have the camera busy being connected to the computer. The DYNEX Multi Card Reader is one of the fastest I’ve used.

i bought my camera 2 months ago but i dont have a receipt and i didnt purchase any warranty on it whta can i do to get it fixed

Contact the manufacture to see if there is anything that can be done. If it is only 2 months old there may be a defect or recall on that model. Only way to know is through the manufacture.

Battery life in digital cameras?

I have a Kodak EasyShare C340, it's older, about 2 years now, and I'm thinking of buying a new one. I travel a lot, and the one I have now has a terrible battery life. I bought 3 rechargable batteries for it, and two chargers, so I would have one for travel. Even so, I have to recharge the battery so much, it becomes a hassle. I can't go half of a day without having to change the battery. Even if the camera is off, it still loses charge. (?) This takes away from the trip, and I am not able to take pictures as easily. In other words, I really want a camera that has long battery life - I don't take many pictures, but I would like it to last a day. As I said before, I don't keep it on constantly either, and I don't shoot much video - which I know takes up battery charge. I just want a camera that can capture life's moments with me.

Oddly enough Digital-SLR camera batteries seem to last longer than Compact Camera batteries. I have a charged battery in my Canon 40D that is still fully charged and it has been in the camera for about 5 days now, even after about 20 shots. Compact cameras are a little more power hungry. You may want to check into the Fujifilm FinePix line. Some models boast a 500+ photo battery life.

Okay to sacrifice zoom ability for megapixel count?

I found a compact camera that I like, but it has a lower zoom capability (28-105 mm equivalent) than some of the slightly bigger models I’ve seen (35-210 mm equivalent). Would it be okay to sacrifice high zoom capability if it’s a high meg camera? I’m thinking if the photos are high quality, I could just zoom/crop the photos on my computer.

That really is a personal preference. Flat answer…Yes you could. By cropping a 10 megapixel photo after enlarging it to 300 (or more) PPI you may…repeat…may get results YOU are happy with. Keep in mind that the sensor on a “point and shoot” camera is only about the size of an eraser head, and is NOT very forgiving when you start enlarging the image. The sensor on a Digital-SLR is bigger than a dime….a lot more data to work with. If the image quality and the zoom are important factor then you may want to look at an entry level Digital-SLR. The Canon Digital Rebel XT or XTi and the Nikon D40 or D40x would be a good place to start.

Is there a fix for this?

I have a Kodak C613. Is there a shade to put on thr LCD Screen. In sunlight you can't see anything, you just hope you are pointing it properly.

Delkin Devices has several models of universal point and shoot LCD shades. These are fold out covers that help protect the LCD when folded down and block the sun when open.

Camcorder for Photo-Finish

I am looking for a camcorder to use for photo finish equipment at bicycle races. I need a shutter speed of something like 1/2000. I would like to get one that I can hook up to my intel MacBook via firewire and control the camera from the computer.

Many models, such as the Canon ZR930 have shutter speeds up to 1/2000 and more. Some go even as high as 1/4000. You can use firewire (IEEE 1394) to capture live to a computer hard drive but you still have to manually control the camera. There is no interface for the computer while the camcorder is in “Camera” mode only in “VCR” mode. DvD and Hard Drive camcorders usually only have USB 2.0 connections.

1) Check and make sure you do not have one of the batteries in up-side down. It is a simple and common mistake.
2) It is possible the batteries are bad. Even new batteries can some times be bad straight out of the package.
3) The connectors in the battery compartment may be corroded or damaged. Take it to your local BestBuy to have it checked out

My camera fell on the pavement and now the screen lights up these wierd colors?

Looks like you have broken the LCD screen or the connectors to the screen have been damaged. The screens on the cameras are Liquid Crystal Diodes…LCD. When they crack or the connectors get damaged the electrical signals travel down the wrong paths and cause very strange color and distortions. Take it to your nearest BestBuy and have it checked out.

What's the best camera for an outdoor concert?

I'm going to go to an outdoor concert, and I'd really like to get a new camera to capture the action, but I want my pictures to come out amazing. What do I need?

An advanced compact or Digital-SLR would be a good choice. The advanced compact camera has some of the features of a D-SLR but without the interchangeable lenses. When it comes to stage photography you need control over things like shutter speed (how fast the shutter clicks), aperture (how much light is let in) and ISO (how sensitive the sensor is to light). A D-SLR would be best in that you can get MORE of these settings and you can change lenses and still maintain quality optical zoom without digital zoom pixelation. Take a look at:

Fujifilm- FinePix
Nikon- D40
Canon- Rebel XTi
Olympus- E-410 or E-510

Even if I'm new to it, quality is inescapable when it comes to me - 'least when I'm interested in something.

i'm not all too familiar with the technical parts of, for example, how do you not have the sun depicted as a purple spot in the sky, or how the brightness doesn't practically blind the whole picture.. let alone if it's possible. but. none the less, I ask. =]
Landscape shots, being in a place with a reasonable count of places to take overviews, like being ontop of a hill.
and the simple sepia effect.. heart. Lol

A Digital-SLR is best for you do to the fact that it has FULL manual control and unlimited zoom with interchangeable lenses. The “sun depicted as a purple spot in the sky” might possibly be a lens flair caused by the sun reflecting inside the lens housing. A lens shade will help with this problem.
To get the stars at night you need to have a wired remote and a camera that has “Bulb” setting. This will allow you to leave the shutter open as long as you keep the button pushed and give the stars time to register on the sensor.
