Camcorder for Photo-Finish

I am looking for a camcorder to use for photo finish equipment at bicycle races. I need a shutter speed of something like 1/2000. I would like to get one that I can hook up to my intel MacBook via firewire and control the camera from the computer.

Many models, such as the Canon ZR930 have shutter speeds up to 1/2000 and more. Some go even as high as 1/4000. You can use firewire (IEEE 1394) to capture live to a computer hard drive but you still have to manually control the camera. There is no interface for the computer while the camcorder is in “Camera” mode only in “VCR” mode. DvD and Hard Drive camcorders usually only have USB 2.0 connections.

my camera does not turn on at all and i already replaced the batteries what could the prob;em be

1) Check and make sure you do not have one of the batteries in up-side down. It is a simple and common mistake.
2) It is possible the batteries are bad. Even new batteries can some times be bad straight out of the package.
3) The connectors in the battery compartment may be corroded or damaged. Take it to your local BestBuy to have it checked out

My camera screen..

My camera fell on the pavement and now the screen lights up these wierd colors?

Looks like you have broken the LCD screen or the connectors to the screen have been damaged. The screens on the cameras are Liquid Crystal Diodes…LCD. When they crack or the connectors get damaged the electrical signals travel down the wrong paths and cause very strange color and distortions. Take it to your nearest BestBuy and have it checked out.

What's the best camera for an outdoor concert?

I'm going to go to an outdoor concert, and I'd really like to get a new camera to capture the action, but I want my pictures to come out amazing. What do I need?

An advanced compact or Digital-SLR would be a good choice. The advanced compact camera has some of the features of a D-SLR but without the interchangeable lenses. When it comes to stage photography you need control over things like shutter speed (how fast the shutter clicks), aperture (how much light is let in) and ISO (how sensitive the sensor is to light). A D-SLR would be best in that you can get MORE of these settings and you can change lenses and still maintain quality optical zoom without digital zoom pixelation. Take a look at:

Canon- Rebel XTi
Olympus- E-410 or E-510

Even if I'm new to it, quality is inescapable when it comes to me - 'least when I'm interested in something.

i'm not all too familiar with the technical parts of, for example, how do you not have the sun depicted as a purple spot in the sky, or how the brightness doesn't practically blind the whole picture.. let alone if it's possible. but. none the less, I ask. =]
Landscape shots, being in a place with a reasonable count of places to take overviews, like being ontop of a hill.
and the simple sepia effect.. heart. Lol

A Digital-SLR is best for you do to the fact that it has FULL manual control and unlimited zoom with interchangeable lenses. The “sun depicted as a purple spot in the sky” might possibly be a lens flair caused by the sun reflecting inside the lens housing. A lens shade will help with this problem.
To get the stars at night you need to have a wired remote and a camera that has “Bulb” setting. This will allow you to leave the shutter open as long as you keep the button pushed and give the stars time to register on the sensor.

How to copy the High Defenition recordings

I want to buy a high defenition camcoder. I know I can copy it to computer. But how does it can be viewed in the TV without a high defenition DVD player.

By using the A/V (Audio Video) cable supplied with the camera you can connect it to a Standard Definition Television (NOTE: you can also connect to an HD TV with this cable). You will see the video in Standard Definition, not High Definition. If you do have a High Definition Monitor/TV then you can connect the camcorder with a special HDMI cable, many of the newer camcorders have a HDMI Out port on the camcorder. This will give you Full HD signal.

How can I edit DVD?

The DVD-RW can be recorder in two formats, one is the video recording format and the other one is VR , which I can edit scenes in the camcorder. The problem is that in videor ecording mode I cant delete anything like scenes or stills, and I want to be able to do that like in VR mode. In VR mode I doesnt play in DVD player, in computer or in other dvd players. Also maybe I couldt edit the video and then I will be able to play it.

What brand makes the best Hard Drive Camcorders?

It is hard to say who makes the best Hard Drive Camcorder. It is all personal opinion. I like Canon and Sony, they a rugged and reliable. I have a friend who swears by JVC and another who wont use anything but Panasonic. Each brand has it's Great , Good , and not so Good Models. Best to look at Consumer Reports on the Model you are interested in, and read the customers reviews at BestBuy.com

Camcorder with microphone input

Which Camcorders include a microphone input?

This is a feature that is getting harder and harder to find on the entry level camcorder. Some of the higher end models, such as the Canon XHA1HD do have a microphone input. There are a few other models that do. I will post what I can find soon.
