night vision camera

I'm going to a festival which will have camp fires as the only source of light. What still and video cameras will capture faces without flash or floodlights?
A Digital-SLR would be best because of manual settings. By setting the ISO to 800 or higher you will not need a Flash and a tripod probably wont be needed. There will be a little graininess (noise) but most cameras have good noise reduction built in.
Long exposure settings will get you blurry pictures because your subjects will be in motion.
You will have some extreme shadows because fire light is very directional.
As for a camcorder ...fire light should be enough to get video.

Are the old EOS 35mm lenses compatible with the Digital Eos T1i?

Most likely yes...however there is a conversion factor involved.
35mm lenses on digital bodies usually have a conversion of 1.6 unless the digital camera is a Full Frame sensor.
That means a 50mm lens for a film camera will work like a 80mm on a digital-slr body.

With Pict Bridged enabled you will be able to connect your camera directly to your printer..if the printer is Pict Bridge compatible...by using a USB cable.
The cable must be the right size for your camera.

What does touch panel display mean?

Usually a camcorder or digital camera has physical buttons to push for viewing images or menu operations. A touch panel means the buttons appear on the LCD screen and you lightly touch the screen to use the button.

lens problem?

My 2004 cybershot has become very dark when you sight it, what is wrong?
Check your owners manual for this camera for ND filter. Some Cybershot cameras have a ND filter and this might be switched on on yours.
Also check in the menu settings under LCD screen settings to see if there is an adjustment for Brightness and Contrast.
If none of these help take it by your nearest BestBuy and have the Geek Squad take a look.

What is optical zoom

Optical Zoom is a series of lenses arranged in such a way as to be adjustable to create a varying focal length.
This can enlarge a subject without loss of resolution as opposed to digital zoom that enlarges the final image causing the image to look choppy.

Any camcorder you choose should do this. Some are a little easier to edit with. Camcorders with a Firewire are generally simpler to capture footage from if your computer has a Firewire port.
Hard Drive and Flash based camcorders might need a conversion program to make the footage compatible before editing.
Almost all camcorders have a Photo function built in so you can take photos ... but a compact camera or D-SLR camera will still get better results than a camcorder.

It is not so much the camera as the type of lens used. A wider angle lens of 10 - 20mm will show you a lot of the room and any distortions could most likely be cleaned up in Photoshop or similar program.
Use a Tripod not hand held. If you use a higher aperture to be hand held your DOF (Depth of Field) is too narrow and detail farther from the camera will not be as sharp. Using a tripod will allow longer aperture time and sharper detail.
Don't use a flash...bad shadows and hot spots will result.
