which dslr is better..sony, canon or nikon?
I'm looking to replace my Minolta Maxxum5 35mm camera with a DSLR. I've been seriously considering a Sony A330 but can't decide between the Sony, a Canon Rebel or a Nikon camera. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you :)
The Sony a330 has a lot of built in features that are add-ons for Canon and Nikon.
Wireless control of external flash is built into Sony. Steady Shot is built in on Sony.
Also your Minolta lenses are compatible with the Sony D-SLR cameras.

The battery replacement is the NP-FR1. Google this part number to find online replacements.

I want the best camera possible for $450 to $600. Any suggestions?
I would be using this camera for both indoor and outdoor use. If possible, i would like to edit the pictures after as well.
Canon, Nikon and Sony all have great entry level D-SLR cameras in that price range. Sony has several models under $600. These cameras include a lens. Some cameras in that prices range are "body" only and need to have a lens purchased separately.

Generally all cameras have a mini USB port and include a cable to connect to a computer for transferring the photos.
A multi card reader is better for photo transfer. They are somewhat faster and you don't have to wait to use your camera until the download is done. If you have multiple memory cards you can keep shooting with one while copying the other.
Some cameras allow you to tether to a computer and capture directly while taking photos. This feature is generally not found in the entry level D-SLR cameras.

What lens is best to use for high motion activities such as sports
Zoom lenses of up to 200mm or preferable 300mm (or larger) would be best. With a larger zoom you can be farther away from the action and still get shots that look like your in the middle of it.
Also a fast as lens as possible would be good. f/1.2 to f/1.7 helps get nice depth of field and fast stop action shots.
