Filter size for Nikon d5000 18-55 mm AF-S DX Nikkor lens

size of filters for Nikon 18-55mm AF-S DX Nikkor lens
It is a 52mm inner lens thread size. The filter size is marked on all lenses with a number ## next to a circle with a / through it. This number has nothing to do with the focal length of the lens, only the diameter of the lens thread.
This is usually found on the inner edge next to the glass of the lens.

How to copy videos to DVD

I have a Sony Hi8 Handycam, several years old and not digital in format. What is the best way to copy the old tapes to DVD for permanent storage and viewing ease?
The easiest and fastest way is to connect to a stand alone DvD Recorder with the A/V (Audio Video) Cable that came with your camcorder. If your camcorder has a S-Video connector, or better yet, a Firewire (IEEE 1394) connection and the DvD Recorder does also you’ll get the best quality with these type of connections. DvD Recorders are reasonably priced now.

what is the difference between the sony memory stick duo and the Pro-HG Duo? which is better?

The Pro-HG is better. Delivering a 30-60mb transfer rate for better video and still capturing on high speed shooting modes.
The Pro-HG is backwards compatible with Pro-Duo devices, however the high speed rating is lost and it acts as a standard Pro-Duo card.

Cracked LCD screen for Kodak M893 IS camera?

Would it be less expensive to replace the device completely or repair it? Any suggestions on where to get a new LCD screen and where to have it be repaired? I'm so lost.
In this instance, considering the replacement pricing of the camera, it may not be cost effective to do a repair. The average cost of this camera on line is $89-$109. The repair would most likely be over that.
This might be a good time to step up in cameras and apply that repair money towards a bigger camera.

which camera for Her, Nikon D60 or D3000

my daughter wants a D60 for school photography class. Best Buy has the D3000....whats the major difference?
do either do movies...
The D3000 has many features over the D60. The larger screen is helpful. Better metering system, and scene recognition. Improvements on the Auto Focus system over the D60...and more.
Neither camera has Video Mode. Look at the D90 and the D5000 for that.

Lense compatibility

what nikon slr cameras are compatible with nikkor af 70-300 G lense.
From what little information I could find that lens is not compatible with Nikon 40, 40x, D5000 and D60.
Could not find a definite compatible list. Some of the cameras it does appear to work with are:
Nikon D100, D200, D300s, D300, D700, D3, D70, D70s, D90, D80 & D50 SLR's, where the focusing motor is inside the camera body.

Want a digital camera that will photograph documents

a good camera to photograph documents and hand written letters. Also good photos. Will the Nikon s570 (lots of good reviews) or s640 (1 review bad) do the job?
Most any camera will take good photos of documents. The key to this is good even lighting and not having a reflective surface or shinny covering over the document.
A D-SLR camera would be better for this due to the larger sensor. There will be a lot less color fringing on the lager sensor. Color fringing happens very often when there is a strong edge contrast between dark areas and very bright, such as black text on whites paper.

what is a dslr?

ive never heard of this before
DSLR is Digital Single Lens Reflex or a Digital version of a standard 35mm SLR Camera.
Also referred to as a D-SLR.
Compact cameras have almost no manual control and generally a retractable lens.
Advanced compacts have limited manual control and some SLR type features and a non-interchangeable lens.
D-SLR cameras have full manual control, a larger sensor and interchangeable lenses.

Are there any dslr body's that manuel focus slr lenses will work with?

Not that I am directly aware of.
There have been some adapters made for certain brands (mostly Canon). Do a Google search for "Manual Lens Adapter".
