Solid case, gets the job done nicely
on October 31, 2019

The case is pretty slim, so it’s adding protection without adding a lot of bulk. It puts the emphasis on protection on the sides and corners, and the inside construction of the case has these ridges that disperse impact energy. When looking at it from the side, these ridges appear as lines all down the sides and top and bottom. So not a crystal clear view of the phone from those angles, but you’re getting more drop protection than a case that doesn’t have them. The back is pretty clear, I’d say 90% clear, so no issues with blurring or frosting of the color way of your iPhone. Tech21 cases also have a nice smooth finish, but they have a grippy, almost tactile element about them, so you never have to worry that the phone is going to be too slippery when in this case. The grip is very nice and offers a very secure feeling in the hand.
The one drawback I see in this case, is the case fits more on the “loose” side. Now I’m not worried at all that the phone is going to slip out of the case at all, but I usually prefer a more snug fitting case. One where the phone might need a little bit of effort to fit securely inside. My iPhone dropped right in with little to no effort. Main symptoms of that to me are the sides can flex if small pressure is placed on them, and the buttons have a loose feel to them, not the secure snug feel I like to have.
Overall it’s a great case and gets the job done with a minimalist footprint and nice, mostly clear appearance.

Perfect Charger Especially When You're on the Go
on October 7, 2019

65W of total charge power is more than enough to get you through a busy day. Now that total wattage is split between the ports, a USB-C and two USB-A ports. The USB-C port offers up to 47W of charge power. I say "up to" because it's not only how fast the charger can charge, but also how fast your device can draw the power. So a lot of the total charge time depends on the device your are charging. That's completely normal and expected, so that's why having a charger with this must total wattage is great!
The charger feels very sturdy and solid, and has nice folding socket blades that have a good resistance feel to them. It's actually very heavy as well, and since the blades are at the top corner of the device, you need to watch that the charger doesn't actually come unplugged from the wall when using outlets with very loose receptacles.
The included USB-C cable is 8 feet long, which is incredible given that most included cables today are 3' or less. For your USB-C devices, you have plenty of reach, especially when an outlet is not that convenient. Very strong and hi gauge construction.
I took it on a trip recently and was able to charge a range of devices all at once. Using a USB-C to Lightening cable i was able to fast charge my iPhone 11 Pro, while also charging my wife's iPhone 11 and our son's iPad. The charger has "PD" charging capability as well and when the device you're charging is compatible, the charger will automatically go into "Power Delivery" mode to charge the device as fast as it can. I also charged a Dell XPS laptop and Apple MacBook using the USB-C port and the charging time was noticeably faster than the OEM chargers that came with either of those devices.

Works perfectly. Plugged in to my Apple MacBook Air, connected the LAN cable carrying 1Gbps fiber internet - and boom. 1Gbps+ speeds up and down. MacBook immediately identified the connector and configured everything in Network Preferences, and I had 1Gbps speed in less than 30 secs. It has a nice fit/finish, brushed aluminum look to it. Cable is very hefty and feels solid, should hold up over time.

Simply Amazing
on August 24, 2019

from Indianapolis, IN
I’ve owned a couple very high end 4K UHD TVs and by some big time brands, and I have to say, this Vizio PX Series TV is the best I’ve ever seen.
The box is HUGE. Make sure you have at least two people to help with unboxing and mounting the TV. The packaging is very robust, the display has very ample protection, but it’s also very easy to unbox. Just slide the top portion up and off and the TV is packed inside a sealed plastic bag with top handles, meant to help remove the display from the box as well as move around the house/room depending on where you need to place it. I’m also impressed by the feet of the display. Very nice, heavy metal stands that fit inside slots on the bottom of the display, then secured with screws. There is no movement what so ever here, once installed, they are firm and the TV stands perfectly level and stable.
Vizio touts this as a “bezel-less” display, and while the bezels are small, they aren’t significantly smaller than other top end TVs out there.
The initial setup menus are a breeze, as the TV walks you through everything from basic setup features, languages, registration and then checking for firmware updates. Their built in Home OS is pretty clean, with a very simple and intuitive UI to browser built in apps and other digital channels that come installed with the TV.
Display right out of the box was pretty good, I was impressed. I only needed a few minor touch ups in the Picture menu to get the display to be pretty good for most viewing. But the Picture menu goes deep, very deep. You have up to three menus to adjust picture quality. From basic color, contract and sharpness, to deeper settings like adjusting the local dimming, setting gamma and latency, to even an even deeper set of menus that let you fine tune each RGB color and contrast and gamma. Most people won’t ever need to go that deep into picture settings, but I’m impressed that Vizio allows the user to fine tune their display to that level of detail. they even provide built in color and display calibration tools, that walk you through many tests to help dial in the picture exactly as YOU want it, not what some algorithm thinks you should have.
The TV is very bright – 2700 nits of brightness is more than enough to appear as bright as possible, even in the most broad daylight. I’ve found that having the backlight set to around 80-85 is plenty for most viewing, but also gives me headroom in case something needs an extra boost of brightness. The detail is utterly amazing. Watching 4K UHD Dolby Vision or UHD10 content makes it feel like you’re watching your own home movie theater. For a TV of this size, to have such superb and super detailed picture is incredible. Even when close to the display, the fine details are amazing. I also personally like to turn off the local dimming. This display can be set to very low to very high dimming across 480 zones. This is for the user to fine tune based on their source. For some things the high dimming is amazing, say when playing Xbox One X games like Fortnite, PUBG or Call of Duty. But it’s also not that great for other content that might display bright halos around white areas set in deep blacks. But you can turn this on and off on the fly, so whatever your source content is, you can always get the best picture possible. The display also has great motion control. From game latency settings for consoles or computers, to what they call Clear Action, the display makes fast action nice and smooth, no blurring or trailing.
The picture overall is just amazing, plain and simple.
You can stream content via the built in Chromecast, as well as Apple AirPlay 2. As well as the other built in smart TV apps mentioned already. You can also utilize Google Assistant or Amazon’s Alexa for voice control. The display can literally be a one stop shop for all of your content viewing without hooking up a single device. We use both the built in apps and an Xbox One X for 4K UHD content. Connections are plenty, with 5 HDMI inputs and 4 of them being able of displaying 4K UHD content.
I even want to mention the remote control. It’s so nice. Nice and heavy, machined aluminum with super soft touch keys. You would expect a remote like this from a TV like this, and Vizio delivers. You have access to all the top digital streaming services right from the remote, like Netflix, Hulu, etc. It’s nice and big, feels good in the hand, and just a nice touch.
I can easily say this is one of the best pictures that I’ve ever seen on a display, especially when that display is 75”. From color to motion to detail and brightness, Vizio has really delivered on this one. I can understand why CNET called this TV the best of CES 2019. You won’t be disappointed.

Rock Solid Display - Multitasker Dream

Right off the bat, you’ll notice how different using a monitor of this size is, and eventually how great it becomes. I normally use 27” monitors for both work and home, and even though 32” isn’t that big of a size jump, it feels like it. This thing is huge, but in a good way!
Setting up the monitor is super fast. It has a standard VESA mount configuration for wall or other mounting, and when using the stand, the vertical portion is already installed in the monitor, you just need to mount it to the base plate. The base plate is super heavy, and keeps the monitor in place with ease. You have some tilt capability by not much, and there is no height adjustment. I will say, the power supply that comes with this is incredibly large, almost shockingly large, so just be prepared for that depending on where you are setting it up.
The display was super nice right out of the box. You have a pretty decent set of onboard configuration settings to fine tune the picture, and it also has a low blue light filter setting as well. After some very minor tweaks, I was extremely happy with the picture. Whether using home office applications or playing PUBG or Fortnite, the picture was amazing, and the anti-glare works very well. I tested it out using a few different PCs, an HP Omen gaming desktop at home and an HP 8561 laptop for the office. I will say, the picture really comes alive when you push it with a nice graphics card. The HP Omen running Fortnite was beautiful. I was amazed at the color and clarity. The monitor can also go to a 75mHz refresh rate, which is nice. While it would have been nice for 4K resolution, the 2K is definitely a big step up from using a 1080p display, you’ll notice right away. Connections are limited to just HDMI and Display Port, so if you don’t have that on your source device, you’ll need an adapter. At the office running Windows 10 and mostly business applications, the display is nice and crisp. Easily open multiple programs and cascade your windows for an everything all at one view, and it’s super nice using the Windows 10 snap to fit features. I wish the monitor had some sort of PiP capability so I could fit more than two apps on the screen at the same size, like a 4x4 setting would be nice, but it’s not a dealbreaker by any means. I do wish the display got a little brighter, even at 300 candela, I was wishing for a boost of brightness in full daylight hours.
Overall this monitor is a great value in this space, unless you are a hard core gamer or need other bells and whistles for a 32” display, this one will suit you just fine.

Loud and Extremely Clear

The Astro A40 TR with Pro Mixamp offered some of the most amazing audio performance I’ve heard from a gaming headset. As someone that owns a few pairs of “pro” level gaming headsets, these blew me away.
Right from the package, you know these are made to impress. The box has an almost custom package feel to it. Very nice and superbly made. When not in use, the box is somewhere great to store your headset, or even when travelling.
The headset is built with premium materials, very sturdy and offers a superb custom fit. The earpieces and headband are connected via a metal alloy system for opening and closing the pair for larger fits. I have a larger head, and these fit very comfortably. The headband is padded nicely, and the large over the ear cushions offered tremendous comfort, even during long sessions. They are open back, so they don’t give that quasi noise cancelling feeling that some other closed back models do, but the sound fidelity and quality is amazing, you won’t care they are open back, trust me. Astro almost makes lots of mod pieces for their headphones, so if open vs. closed back matters, they do offer closed back plates you can get. The ear cups are soft fabric, and after hours of use, my ears still did not get too warm. The flexible mic can be mounted on either earpiece, and can fold up vertical when not in use. The mic offered sound quality that was so crystal clear, some of my friends couldn’t believe I was on a headset mic.
The Mixamp Pro is similar to a couple other brands that offer this type of feature, and it competes very well. Very sturdy construction with nice large dials that have a nice resistance to the knobs. The headset can get very loud with the mixamp but the audio is always clear. You can select to engage Dolby Audio or basic stereo, and there are 4 pre created EQ settings you can choose from. What’s great is that with the Astro command center, you can fine tune or edit completely all of the presets, or create your very own profile. The audio is definitely tuned for pro esports. From the moment you start a match, you can hear things that you couldn’t hear before with your current headphones. I loved having the ability to custom fine tune the audio profile, to add Bass if I wanted, or to lower some high-end frequencies, etc. I will say the software feels sort of glitch, and I’ve seen this in other reviews. Sometimes it worked, sometime I needed to reboot or reconnect the headphones, etc. Same when trying to update the firmware, very glitch at times. But that’s not a big issue for me because once you have your sound profiles set, I don’t see folks needing to access the software that often.
The Dolby Atmos blew me away. They come with 2yrs of Dolby Atmos free on Xbox or Windows 10 and when using the Atmos, it’s a game changer. Hearing the audio in the 360-degree spacial profile just blows stereo or even normal 5.1 surround out of the water. It feels like total immersion it whatever you’re playing or even watching.
Hands down, this might be the new best pair I own, not even close.

My new favorite cleaning tool!!!

If you have hardwood floors in your home this device is perfect. The soft brush head almost feels like fleece, super soft and perfectly safe for hardwood floors. The suction is incredible even with the softer brush I’ve had no issues picking up just about everything.
Unboxing and the initial set up was a breeze. I had it assembled in about five minutes and I only took another five minutes to install the charging base station on the wall. The charging base station is nice because the power cable tucks underneath so the station can mount flush to the wall and the docking unit actually swivels out so that all you have to do is get the end of the vacuum into the cradle and the docking station will do the rest - simply push it against the wall until it clicks. It has nice bright LEDs to let you know that it’s charging or that it is fully charged.
The vacuum is super lightweight and super nimble. It’s effortless to push around even my small children can do it. The low-profile brush head gets underneath chairs and furniture with ease and like I said the suction is amazing.
We have a large dog that leaves a trail of hair behind her everywhere she goes and we used to have to either keep a nice stock of swiffer’s or put the full size carpet vacuum on bare floor and turn the brush off to vacuum the hardwood floors. Not anymore we can simply and easily grab the Dyson V7 and then just a couple minutes have all of the hardwood floors swept.
I do wish the battery life was a little bit longer I like to use it on high power mode so battery life is only about 15 minutes or so. The nice thing is that you can control how the vacuum is on or off by the pistol grip trigger so if You don’t need to have the vacuum running as you change positions or change rooms you can easily shut the motor off and conserve battery power. But it would’ve been nice to have at least double the battery capacity but in my use I’ve not found that this is really becoming an issue because when we use this it’s basically for a quick spot cleaning and not running this for long periods of time.
This has become my favorite household cleaning device right now it’s simply perfect for what it’s intended uses and we use it every single day.

Superb wireless charger

Charges the iPhone and Apple Watch with max fast wireless charging capability, plus gives you an extra 5W USB connection for a third device.
The unit is very sturdy but not too heavy. It has very nice rubber pads on the bottom to prevent slipping, and the stands for both the phone and watch chargers have a grippyness to them so that even while standing up, the devices do not shift from side to side or move off of the charging coils. Your phone sits in this nice little curved divot, and the front of it holds the phone snug against the charging stand. I’m using an iPhone XS Max and it feels snug and secure against the charging coils. The power supply is huge, as you can expect, to handle this much power current. The connection is also a proprietary, no USB-C connection or anything, so make sure you don’t lose this one. The cable tucks neatly underneath the base so there is no issue with stability when plugged in. the length of the cord is also nice and long, giving you plenty of options for placement.
You can only charge your phone/watch standing up, there is no option to lay the devices flat. While I would have loved an option to lay the devices down and use it more in a pad style, I’ve had no issues charging my devices in the vertical placement design. The charger is super quiet, I’ve not heard a single sound from it after days of usage. The devices are always charged super fast, even faster it seems than some of my other “fast” wireless chargers. The charging LED is on the side of the stands, and is nice and dim, so it’s not distracting in a dark room, but from the front, you cannot tell if the charger is charging or not, as the side LED is the only indication of active charging. I’m 50/50 on this, I have another wireless fast charger that has a bright blue LED in the front, and at night I love I can see it’s charging, but hate how bright it is. So while I’d love to look directly at the Belkin and see that it’s charging, I’m also happy that there isn’t a bright LED shining at me at night.
Great charger, works exceptionally well.

Sold Performance, but Outdated Resolution
on April 26, 2019
Posted by: HarvickFan
from Indianapolis, IN
Overall the video has been very good. 1080p at 30fps isn’t anything to write home about these days, it would have been great to have a 4k option, either 24fps or 30fps, or at least 1080p at 60fps. But for Escort’s first dash cam, it’s a solid performer. The color gamut is very nice and the night time mode works really nicely. Overall resolution is pretty good, nice clear video and audio, and the built in mic is very good. I do have one issue with the video however, I’m not sure if it’s an artifact of the wide angle lens design on the M1, but the far right side of my video seems out of phase, almost like you’re seeing double. Could be a lens issue, or processing issue, but compared to the left side of the video, the right side definitely looks a little different. But it’s mainly on the far right 1/3 of the frame, the rest of the picture is very nice.
It’s powered by your detector power cable, in my case I’m using it with the iXc unit. The M1 simply mounts to the same mounting cup as your detector, with the supplied mounting arm, and power is received from the detector cable, then passed through to the detector, keeping it very clean and neat, only needing one cable.
The M1 app for iOS and Android allows you to see all the video clips recorded or see a live view of the camera. You can easily download the videos to your smartphone and share them however you’d like, or store them locally, or download videos to a computer using the USB connection.

Long Range Indeed
on April 26, 2019
Posted by: HarvickFan
from Indianapolis, IN
After a week of using the new Escort iXc, I can say the performance is excellent. It’s built on an upgraded M4+ platform, so it has much more processing power and range than the previous iX.
The range on this unit is superb. I’m getting radar blips well before I ever reach the source, whether it’s truly law enforcement, or false notifications from other sources. And the intensity range meter lets you know whether the radar is weak or far away, or right on you at max intensity.
Setup was super simple, just pop the mounting cup to your windshield and mount the iXc with the magnetic mount, plug in the cable and you’re good to go. You can simply use all the default settings, or change them through the onboard button controls or through the Escort Live app. The Live app allows you to customize all the controls visually and makes it super simple. There is so much you can control with the app, so I suggest watching a video or looking at the manual for specifics. But one thing I love is the ability to configure your radar bands and other notification triggers the way you want. It allows you to tailor the protection to your area, your local drives/commutes, etc. This also can maximize performance. And the auto learn feature is great, blocking out same source false notifications as you drive every day. I already have 3 local non law enforcement hot spots locked out because of the auto learn feature, it’s great.
You can connect the iXc to Bluetooth or wifi, and that allows you to pull in real time street speed limit data and display posted speed limits next to your vehicle speed. You can set it to warn you when you’re over the speed limit by a certain threshold, and you can configure the device overall to give you a multitude of readings and notifications from the super simple, to the most advanced expert data.
And if you use it with their new M1 dash cam like I am, I love the fact that just one power cable can power them both. They both use the same power connector, so when using together, you simply plug the iXc power cable into the M1 and it passes through the power to the iXc. Super convenient and clean, only needing one cable.
If I did have one gripe overall, it was that the power cord seemed too short for me. It’s half straight, half coiled cable, and where I need to mount the unit in my truck, I just barely have enough length. I ‘d love to have at least another 6 inches of cable to work with, and maybe lose the coiled version; I’d prefer all flat, straight cable. But the nice thing is the power cable plug unit has a USB output to charge another device, so you don’t lose your power outlet completely.
Overall I’m super happy with the iXc. I haven’t used a detector in a while, and after using the iXc I can’t imagine not having it in my truck. This thing is amazing!!!

This camera is Great, except the actual video!
By Jason
I love everything about this camera. From the form and function to the ease of setup (less than 2 mins) to mounting it wherever I want. The app is great, the two way communication is great. The motion zones work perfectly once you get used to setting them based on your environment and traffic, etc. The cloud storage option is amazing considering what you get for the price you pay. Everything is amazing, except the actual video quality of the camera. It's supposed to be 720p. It is not, at least not the unit that I have. My video quality is so heavily pixelated most of the time, that it renders having this camera in the first place, useless. The image attached to this review is an completely unedited screen grab from a recent video recording. I've been working with the Ring support, and they have been great, however they kept almost insisting that the reason for the pixelation was due to my wi-fi connection. I have Xfinity cable internet with 100mbps downstream and 25mbps upstream, and I use a Linksys EA9500 router that is about 12-15 feet from where the camera is mounted. Wi-fi signal is not the issue at all. I exchanged speed test screen shots and other details with the Ring support, and after discussing with them they have advised me to return this unit and exchange it for another one. They have looked at my videos and agree the video quality should be better than what I'm seeing. So I will do that and update this review if I do see better results with the new unit. Wish me luck!
UPDATE
June 19, 2016
So I returned the previous unit and exchanged for a new one, at the advice of the Ring support team. The new unit is up and running and I can say the video is better. So far so good!

Nest Doorbell (Wired) lets you know who’s there, so you never miss a thing. It replaces your existing wired doorbell and delivers HD video and bright, crisp images, even at night. It’s designed to show you everything at your doorstep — people head to toe or packages on the ground. And with 24/7 streaming, you can check in anytime. Or go back and look at a 3-hour snapshot history to see what happened.*

How immediate is the notification to your smartphone? My current security has a slight delay but enough that the person is usually gone by time I try to respond.

In my use of the Nest Hello, if someone pushes the doorbell button, the notification is instantaneous, the Nest app chimes my phone alongside our doorbell chime ringing in the house.
