Very nice, solid display that does great as a secondary monitor in my usage.

The monitor comes expertly packed and with an included HDMI cable and VESA mount cover, and fits together on the stand in a quick series of clicks. The stand is nice weight, not flimsy or cheap, it holds the monitor firm in place with no issue. It does have some slight tilt range, but no height adjustment and no ability to rotate the monitor vertical. I like it because it has a small footprint, even for a 24” display size, so it’s a great add-on to a laptop.

The display is only FHD 1080p but is nice and accurate, as I would expect from a Dell IPS LED monitor. Color seemed to be mostly accurate right out of the box and I love how the design offers very slim bezels. It’s a different experience when you’re using a monitor with edge to edge display and little to no bezel, the screen feels bigger and more vibrant. Viewing angle was very nice, but average for an IPS display. I do wish the display was brighter and the 1K:1 contrast ratio is ok for using productivity and web based applications, but I would not recommend this for gaming, even with the AMD FreeSync on board. This is a great second monitor for working from home, virtual schooling for the kids, etc. It does go to 75Hz refresh rate, which again, for productivity tasks does make a slight difference over 60Hz for sure. And having the dual HDMI inputs does offer easy switching from source to source, if you want to view multiple source content or need to share the monitor with another device.

Overall, you can’t go wrong with the Dell S2421INX if you’re looking for a solid performer and need an extra monitor to supplement your workflow.

Solid Performance

As an iOS user, I knew that I wouldn’t get full functionality out of the Pixel buds, compared to running Android. Even with that caveat, they are wonderful earbuds.

Now if you don’t have access to a device running Android 6+ or later just for setup purposes, I would stay away from these until they start shipping with updated firmware version 550 out of the box or if and when they release an iOS app. My pair came with version 500, and there was a known issue with constant drops in connectivity on that version. There is NO Google Pixel buds app for iOS. So you have no opportunity to update firmware or configure settings without that. They will still pair to your iOS device like any normal pair of Bluetooth headphones, but without the updated firmware at least, you won’t be happy. I did have an older Android phone lying around the house, so I was able to easily download the Google Pixel buds app and update the firmware.

Now using an iOS device, I am still able to configure and use the Sound enhancements like Bass Boost, Adaptive Sound and an experimental feature called Attention Alerts, where the buds will lower the volume and play a chime, letting you know that they have detected environmental sounds that you might need to pay attention too, if you did not hear them initially. Right now these sounds are a baby crying, a dog barking and emergency vehicle sirens. I can also utilize In Ear detection, where the buds recognized when they are placed or removed from your ears, along with all the touch controls for play/pause/skip/volume, etc.

What I can’t use on iOS are things like firmware updates, Google Assistant voice recognition from the Pixel buds directly and the Find Device feature, in case you lose your buds and need to track them on your device.

The storage charging case is well built, nice and dense with a solid feeling hinge design for the lid. LEDs on both the front of the case and inside the lid display white when fully charged and amber when needing a charge for either the case itself or the Pixel buds. The buds fit securely inside and snap in to place once you start to place them.

Overall I’m quite impressed with the Pixel buds. For in ear headphones, the sound is very full and rich, with full bottom end, especially with Bass Boost turned on. Depending on the audio track, they can get “tinny” at higher volumes, but overall the sound from these is very well rounded and full, I was super impressed when I first heard them. They fit very snug in your ear thanks to custom ear piece sizes included in the box (sm, md, lg) and a built in stabilizer bar that sits perfectly above your ear canal maintaining a secure fit. No amount of movement or awkward head angles made it feel like the buds were at risk of falling out. Pairing to my iOS device was simple, just push the pairing button on the case until the led begins to blink and pair with your device like any standard Bluetooth headset. With updated firmware, my connection seemed very strong, and I’ve only occasionally experienced audio drop outs. The volume is sort of on the lower end, they don’t get excessively loud, which is good for in ear buds, but some people might want or expect a higher top volume output. For me they were just right, at the very highest output, they were slightly too loud for me, so I can easily back it down a touch and be at a nice listening level. Battery life seems to be excellent with the buds easily lasting all day for me during moderate use. The case has both USB-C and wireless Qi charging, and charging the case was nice and fast. In ear detection works great, playing a small tone once they detect placement in the ear, then during playback, if you need to remove one or both of them, the audio is paused automatically. Then when placed back in the ear, playback resumes. The touch controls are nice and easily allow for single tap play/pause or multi tap gestures for other actions, and swiping across lowers or raises the volume. For the most part they work just fine, however when you need to adjust them in your ears or take them off or on, they can produce unintended touches that perform an action you weren’t looking to do. Because of the small size of the outer ear bud itself, best to just use on device controls for that stuff, but if you need to use the touch controls on each bud, they work just fine.

Call quality is also very good. Incoming call audio is nice and clear and with their sound isolating microphones, background noise is nonexistent to callers on the other end of the line.

These are solid, well performing in ear headphones that sound great, have great features and great battery life. And even though I’m not using 100% of their feature potential since I’m an iOS user, I still highly recommend them. I do wish at some point though, they release an iOS version of the Pixel Buds app.

The Shark Vertex Powered Lift-Away is an ultra-powerful Shark upright, featuring DuoClean PowerFins. While the soft front roller pulls in particles, PowerFins deliver nonstop contact to pick up more in every pass (vs. original DuoClean). Plus, Powered Lift-Away lets you detach the pod to go under furniture with the motorized nozzle, or clean above the floor with a push of a button.

Almost Perfect

Unboxing and assembly was super-fast and simple. The main unit is 4 pieces that snap together easily, and I had the vacuum unboxed and powered on less than 5 minutes.
All the controls are conveniently placed on the handle. You have the power on/off as well as different floor settings for carpet, hard floors and high pile or area rugs. I love how it has an effortless interchangeable design. You can keep it assembled for floor vacuuming, but with the push of one button, the canister will release and you can use it as a cannister type vacuum for stairs, furniture or hard to reach areas. You can also leave the cannister attached and just remove the main handle/hose to reach high places. My only complaint on the design is the power cord placement. It’s located on the top left side of the cannister, and just feels awkward as you vacuum, you have to always deal with cord slack in weird spots. For me though, I find that if I just loop the cord through the handle, that issue goes away for me.
When vacuuming, it’s almost self-propelled going forward. It takes much less effort to push the vacuum which is nice, and with the super pivoting brushes, it has effortless turning motions in all direction, almost like a Dyson ball type. The LED lights on the front are incredibly bright, even in bright sunshine you can see debris and hair on the floor that you might otherwise not see. And because of the interchangeable design, the roller brush head of the vacuum has plenty of clearance around it, making it super easy to fully get under couches, chairs or other hard to reach areas. I do wish the brush head was slightly larger though.
Suction power is awesome. We have a large house, with a Labrador who sheds all the time, so we are hard on vacuums. Compared to our other vacuums (Shark and Dyson) this one lives up to the marketing by saying it has the most suction power out there. It does. It picks up everything. I even ran it over a previously swept carpet from another vacuum and it still picked up a cannister full of dust and hair. It’s amazing. I do wish the dust cup was larger though. With this much suction, especially if you’re using this for debris and pet hair, the dust cup fills up fast, so if you’re vacuuming large rooms, prepare to empty the cup at least 2 or three times.
The one feature they tout heavily on this unit is that hair will not wrap around the brushes. I found that not to be true. I vacuumed my daughters room, and even after letting the rollers spin for a while to unwrap or feed the hair off the roller, the second power fin roller was completely wrapped with her hair that we cannot get off without cutting. So that feature to me does not deliver here.
Overall, I love it. It delivers on the powerful suction, which for us is the biggest feature needed in our day to day. I love the design and how easy you can go from upright to cannister vacuum. I do wish the dust cup was bigger and in our experience, hair definitely still wraps around the rollers.

The Best Just Got Better

If this is the only sentence of my review that you read, know that these are the best noise cancelling headphones that you can buy! I already own the XM3s and know how great they are, so when I saw they were releasing the XM4s I knew I had to try them out. Sony has amazed me once again.

FIT and FINISH:
---------------------
The XM4s retain the same styling as the previous XM3, however Sony has made slight and subtle changes to give them an even more premium feel. The black matte finish feels more texturized than the previous models and the headband and ear cut padding feels slightly more robust. They fit comfortably on all head sizes and the ear cups are generously sized and fit easily over the ears, forming a nice seal with your head. They're extremely lightweight and even while wearing for long listening sessions, they've never given me any sort of ear fatigue, even while wearing glasses. They come with a very nice molded carrying case, and include a USB-C cable, audio cable and airline audio adapter.

SOUND:
-----------
In a word – amazing. From super low, heavy Bass to crystal clear highs, and everything in between, the XM4s deliver. Even right out of the box using a flat eq setting, they make your music come alive. When using the available Sony Headphones Connect companion app, you can fine tune your audio experience to exactly how you like it. I’m a big bass guy, and most Wireless headphones cannot reproduce the rumbling or tight and punchy heavy bass that I like , especially when listening to rock and heavy metal. But these handle extremely heavy bass with no distortion at all. You can dial in as much bass, midrange and high frequencies as you would like, using preset EQ settings or customizing them to your own specific values. Even at high volumes the audio is crystal clear and never distorts. The noise cancellation Is really the star here as well because it's simply the best I've ever heard. While they still use the same QN1 noise cancelling processor from the previous model, they have updated the software and coupled with a brand new Bluetooth audio system on a chip, the noise cancellation Is incredible and really immerses you in what you're listening to. They also support high resolution audio, and have a feature called 360 reality audio, which will create a surround sound experience using one of the compatible audio apps. Also new to the XM4s is something called DSEE (Digital Sound Enhancement Engine). Coupled with new AI software it will upscale compressed digital music to provide a richer or fuller experience. With all of these new enhancements, I can tell an audio quality difference between the XM3 and the XM4 but it's not a drastic amount of change, it really is just a fine tuning of the overall audio experience, which again is outstanding.

NOISE CANCELLATION:
---------------------------------
The reason you're getting these headphones is for the noise cancelling, and it really is stellar. Like I said they still use the same processor from last generation but with new software and some new internal hardware the noise cancellation is even better than before. One of the great things about these headphones is you can dial in your own level of noise cancellation. You start by running the noise cancellation optimizer which will dynamically tailor the sound to the size of your head, the size of your ears, if you're wearing eyeglasses, even if you're flying using their atmospheric pressure optimizing. Full noise cancellation essentially silences the outside world , leaving you alone with your music or programming. But you can also tailor various levels of ambient sound. You can set different levels of noise cancellation for your activity, such as going for a walk or going for a run or using public transportation etc. You can tell the headphones how much or how little noise cancellation you would like in each of those settings. They also feature something called quick attention, which allows you to quickly turn the noise cancellation and volume down and let surrounding ambient sound into the headset in case you need to speak to someone or hear what's going on around you. You just simply place your hand over the ear cup. They can also learn your favorite locations, so that they can immediately apply your customized adaptive sound control and noise cancellation to places you frequently visit like your office or a coffee shop etc.

EASE OF USE:
---------------------
They also have a lot of neat features that Make using the headphones easy and effortless. To start with they offer 30 hours of battery life and can quick charge using USB type C. I've been using them for the last few days and I have yet to drain the battery down to 0%. But I can say that the quick charge feature offers a huge boost in playback life in just 10 to 15 minutes of charging. They offer integration With both Google Assistant and Alexa, and they also offer Bluetooth connection To two devices. This comes in very handy then you might be working on a laptop but it would also like to stream music from your phone. You can ever so effortlessly go back and forth between audio source of both devices without having to disconnect pair unpair etc. They also offer a new microphone array to improve the hands-free calling feature which works as well as you could expect but the hands-free calling is just OK. While audio is clear it's not anything that I found that amazing, but it's certainly just fine need to make hands free calls. They also offer fingertip controls on the outside of the ear cups, But I've found these controls to be sort of clunky , not that intuitive or at least not registering my intended gestures the first or even second time. So while they are nice to have I rarely if ever use them. There is also a new feature called speak to chat, which allows the headphones to recognize when you begin talking and turn off any noise cancellation And switch to ambient sound. The thinking here is if you start talking the headphones assume you're having a conversation And will turn off the noise cancellation. I have found that in ideal conditions this works just fine but if you're in a situation where you might make a sound or say something out loud , even singing along with music this can become a hassle, so I leave this setting turned off but it's nice to know that it's there.

OVERALL:
--------------
As I stated at the very beginning of this review, these headphones are simply amazing. What Sony has done with the XM4s is take the stellar foundation they had built in the previous model and expanded upon it, and they have created simply the best sounding headphones I've ever used.

Outstanding Premium Headset
on August 14, 2020
Posted by: HarvickFan
from Indianapolis, IN
The first thing you notice when unboxing this headset is how premium they feel. They are steel and aluminum construction, with a memory foam headband and both leather padded and foam earcups. They come with the leather pads installed and they are very nice. They do get warm over long sessions, and do a nice job of sealing off outside noise. I switched my pads to the foam versions, and love them. Even wearing them for long sessions, I had no ear fatigue, they did not get overly warm, and they did a wonderful job of sealing off outside ambient noise. The lightspeed technology offers no discernable latency in the audio that I could perceive.

The construction offers a rigid, firm but comfortable feel when wearing. The earcups are very solid and dense, and delivers outstanding audio fidelity. I downloaded the Logitech G Hub software to further customize the settings and found it very easy to do so. They can operate in standard stereo mode, but where these really shine is with the DTS 7.1 surround sound setting. Being able to fine tune the special audio, the EQ really lets you customize your own sound. And for hardcore gamers out there, you can also set up the headset using presets of popular gamers, like TSM Myth. In games like Fortnite, Valorant and COD Warfare, the DTS surround sound really immerses you into the game. You hear sounds and nuances that you have never heard before. The spacial audio sensation is amazing.

I will say that once you dial in the right sound stage for your ears, the headset is amazing. I did notice that the customization settings were sort of finicky, in that if you overstepped a setting or two, the sound can very quickly get away from you and sound less than enjoyable, forcing me to reset and try again. But once you find that sweet spot, they shine. They handle lows and highs very well, and I would say they are definitely not bass heavy, more flat to punchy low end.

Another area where this set really shines, is the microphone audio. It uses Blue Voice technology to dial in the perfect configuration of voice settings that allows you to apply noise reduction, compression, etc. The mic quality might be the best I’ve ever used, might even be better than my Astro A40 Pros. There is no option to dial in talkback levels, or mix game vs chat levels, so if that’s super important to you it might an issue.

Overall I’m very happy with these, using these side by side with a few others PRO gaming headsets that I have really highlight where these offer a little bit more, mainly the wireless LightSpeed technology and the DTS 7.1 Surround. Amazing experience using these…

Great Product, Still Might Not Replace Blades
on January 22, 2020
Posted by: HarvickFan
from Indianapolis, IN
Unboxing:
The box is very nice and sturdy, however removing the individual pieces of the system was cumbersome as each piece was wrapped inside its own wrapper of cardboard, to the point of humorous. But once unboxed the system consists of the shaver, carrying case, power supply, trimmer tool and self-cleaning base station.

Setup:
If the shaver arrives with a charged battery, you can begin shaving immediately. It will run for a complete shave on as little as a 5 min charge, but full charging should take about an hour and will give you numerous shaves. Where this shaver differs from others is that you can connect it to the Philips GroomTribe app on your smart device. While everything these days usually centers around connected app features, one thing I felt was a drawback to this system is that you cannot change the shaver settings unless you are connected to the app. The shaver comes pre-set to the “sensitive” setting, but offers Normal, Sensitive and Extra Sensitive. If you wanted to change to Normal or Extra Sensitive, you have to connect to the app first. you cannot change a simple setting like that on the device itself. Seems kind of silly. The base station is nice and robust and the shaver fits nice and securely in order to charge and also self clean after each use. One thing I did struggle with at first, is that the power supply is the same for the shaver and the base station, the input port on the base station is angled upwards almost 60 degrees or so. I didn’t notice that at first, so the power supply did not just easily plug in as I expected. Once I noticed they situated the power input at such a weird angle, it connected just fine. the system comes with a cleaning solution cartridge and that should last about 12 months.

App:
The was very polished and easy to navigate. While it mostly contains content articles about shaving and FAQs, it does offer a My Shave evaluation where the app tracks your shaves and can suggest improvements based on your motions and length of shave time. All of this is geared toward getting the best possible shave and eliminating irritation. So far so good in my use of this.

Shaving:
If you’ve used an electric shaver before, there is nothing new to see here. If this is your first electric shaver, you’ll notice how easy and comfortable it is to get going. I have used the system for a few dry shaves and a few wet shaves and I must admit, I love the wet shaves much better. Dry shaves are great for a rush or getting a quick maintenance in, but for a full shave, I much prefer to use my shave cream and water. Overall the shave is comfortable and quiet. I have not had any issues with pulling or knicking. I have noticed some irritation when using dry, which I’ve always experienced using an electric shaver, but setting the shaver to Extra Sensitive and using wet with shave cream, the irritation went away. The only thing I notice is that it’s still not as close a shave as a blade razor, and struggles to get close against the grain or around my jawline/chin. I also need to use my blade to shave my upper lip, as the Norelco doesn’t do a good enough job of getting that area close.

Self-Cleaning:
This part I love, because once done, all you do is place the shaver in the base station, snap it in place and set it and forget it. The system will clean the shaver and leave it dry and smelling fresh.

Overall:
Very nice system with adequate shave quality but for me, using this exclusively isn’t an option yet. I find myself still reaching for my blade razor to finish my shave and go over areas to get a smooth, close feel. Where this is great is the ability to shave wet or dry, and grab a quick shave when a razor isn’t a good option. And being able to keep this clean with almost no effort, that’s definitely worth some bonus points.

Easy to use, works great

Super easy to set up and assemble. Battery charges on the supplied charging base very fast. Gives you the flexibility to use one power source across a variety of the Hoover OnePwr line of devices.
For a battery powered blower, it's great. Not something that really compares to traditional gas powered blowers, so depending on your use case, it might not be for you. But for quick, around the house needs that require a blower, this is amazing. Super lightweight and comfortable to hold, the blower produces a great amount of airflow. It easily blew wet stuck leaves around my yard as needed. I love that the trigger has variable speed, so you can dial down the power when needed, or go full blast. The airflow is nice is concentrated and focused so you're getting the power exactly where you point.
It is loud though. Very loud. I know gas blowers are loud too, but this might be equally as loud, just in a different pitch. So keep that in mind, you might still want ear protection if you're using for long periods of time.
Overall the blower is great and definitely gets the job done for most uses.

Not Ready for Prime Time

While the Max Pro AX11000 demonstrates great speed and range, everything else about the system leaves much to be desired.
I've used high end routers and wifi systems from all the top brands, and I actually swapped out a Netgear Orbi system to review this Arris mAX Pro. Setup was pretty simply, however the app starts the install with some pretty confusing questions if you're just a normal residential user. Questions that are aimed to determine beforehand if you're using another gateway, external modem or other router, etc. could confuse most non-technical customers before they even get started. The overall setup process was very fast and easy, all done via the Arris app for iOS. Within just a few mins i had both the router and satellite module up and running. I have a 1Gbps fiber plan (up and down) and have always used wired backhaul on my Orbi to share my gigabit connection with both router and satellites. The mAX Pro says it will do the same, but it has to come via a future update, not supported currently. How a system of this price and supposed feature set doesn't allow wired backhaul is beyond me. To make matters worse, I cannot tell what the backhaul rate is between the router and the satellite. The app is supposed to show the connection rate between the two, but it has never worked. While supposedly having dedicated backhaul wireless channel between router and satellite, my wifi speeds were considerable slower than when i used my wired backhaul connection as the LAC or link aggregation connection.
The app is very bare bones, but does offer some good visibility to data, if it actually works. you can see your router and satellite connection, the status of the connection, you can even speed test the connection between the router and your modem/gateway. You can see all your connected devices, however they all show up as mobile phone icons, and there is no ability to change the icons to represent the actual device type. You can change the device name though. Beyond that and some very simply parental controls and settings, the app and system overhaul don't do much more. You have the option to set DNS dynamically, reserve LAN and WAN IP and port forwarding, while also enabling UPnP, and that's it. You have no control over anything else, or visibility to any deeper settings. To a non tech user, this might be fine, but to anyone with mid tech knowledge up to a power user, this system does not offer anything. This is a major drawback. Most all systems on the market today, wifi 6 or not, offer deeper customization for control over every aspect of their network. It gets worse because you can only interact with the settings from the mobile app, there is no option for a browser or desktop based UI.
Overall speed and range seem fine. Using an iPhone 11 Pro I'm able to pull down wifi 6 speeds above 700Mbps and all my household devices receive full connection strength no matter where they are in the house. Range is among the farthest I've ever seen in a mesh system. I do see a rather aggressive switching process between router and satellite, and some devices connect to the router even when it's farther away, and default down to the 2.4Ghz band. and with no way to customize this in the settings, and no band steering, i have to live with it. Operation has been ok, but the one thing I've had happen at least 4 times over the last week of use, is random disconnects. This is something that should not happen. When using my Orbi setup, i would never have disconnects, ever. Just in the 7-10 days of using the mAX Pro system, i've had 4 disconnects already. the system goes dead, offline and requires a manual reset through the app or a hard power cycle. Not acceptable, especially for a system in this price range. Hopefully this is something Arris is aware of and working to fix.
While speed and range are great, so many other things about the system just keep it a subpar performer for me. A lot of updates are needed to revamp the experience and allow power users the ability to push this system to its potential. Getting wifi 6 speed is great, but not worth the cost of everything else missing.

Solid Performing Camera System
on November 15, 2019

The eufyCam2 system has been pretty impressive and a very solid performer for me over the last 7-10 days of use. Once up and running, I’ve had zero issues with camera connections, quality of video feed and notifications and changes to settings and locations. I’ve used similar camera systems from the other top 2-3 brands in this space, and the eufyCam2 delivers as good or better performance in all areas.

Setup:

Very easy. The package came with a HomeBase2 unit and two cameras. The first thing you’ll notice is that the cameras are very large, compared to others in this space. As you can imagine, touting 365 day battery life, the internal batteries are pretty big. I downloaded the eufy Security app for iOS and followed the setup instructions. Very simple and easy to follow. You basically connect your HomeBase to your home network (either by Ethernet or wifi) and then add each camera, and place them where you’d like. The app will notify you of the signal strength between the HomeBase and your cameras, allowing you to place them all in ranges that maximize connection strength. I started by using Ethernet connection directly to my router, however my second camera seemed to get a lower than desired connection, so I simply switched my HomeBase connection to wifi and placed the HomeBase in the middle of where the two cameras were placed, and all connections are solid. This is a great feature, and something you don’t get with some of the other brand cameras. It also states that the HomeBase can be used as a wifi extender when used in wifi mode. I’ve not tried that out since I use a mesh wifi system, but that’s an awesome feature to have just in case for those that might need it.

One of the nice things about the eufyCam2 system is there is no need for cloud storage subsections. Your videos are stored locally within the HomeBase unit. It comes with a 16GB internal storage, that can be expanded to 128GB. Eufy says the internal 16GB will store up to 3 months of clips (at their standard factory settings) but being able to expand and not have to pay monthly or yearly cloud storage fees is awesome. And you can download and save any or all your clips to other devices when and wherever you want.

App:

The app is great, very polished and very fast to load and operate. From the home screen you have direct access to your cameras installed and can quickly add new cameras if needed. The first thing you do in the app is either go directly to your clips, or go directly to Live Streaming. You don’t have to wait for motion detection, you can always go directly to a live stream video to see what’s happening in real time on any camera at any time. Eufy says that the system will accommodate up to 16 cameras, that’s amazing and well beyond what other brands offer. You can toggle between your devices, your recorded video history and your desired security settings. Video history of course keeps a timeline of all recorded video events the camera has captured so you can go back by day/time and find the clip you want. from here you can view the clips, save them to your device, share them with others or social media, even share them with eufy, and also delete the clip. The security tab allows you to modify what mode you want the camera system to operate in; Home, Away, Disarmed or Scheduled. These can be adjusted to do different things related to notifications, motion detection, alarm settings etc.

The app also allows your direct control over the cameras and their individual settings. Per camera you can turn them on or off. You can adjust night vision to on or off per camera, you can adjust different motion detection settings, audio settings and other custom configurations, all per camera. So based on placement, you might need different settings for one camera that you don’t need for the other and vice versa. The app allows you to configure them individually however you’d like. It also has an alarm setting, meaning that if someone were to try and move your camera or remove it from its mount, the camera will start sounding an alarm. Great feature to have! You also can control activity zones per camera to detect motion. You can create custom, single or multiple zones in which the camera will prioritize when motion is detected. And if you don’t want to use zones, no problem, the camera will detect motion across the entire field of view. And this can be set to all motion, which depending on placement can be a good or bad thing. somewhere where motion is limited, that’s great because you’ll immediately be notified, but somewhere else, and you’ll get leaves, trees, bushes, animals, cars, etc. So you can set the motion detection to People only, so the camera will notify you only when it detects a human. It even has facial recognition, so it will zoom in and save a shot of the persons face. This is great for high traffic areas where you don’t want false alarms. You also have complete control over the length and duration of the video clips. You can let eufy record for as long as it thinks it needs to, or you can customize specifically how long and how often you want your clips to be. This will have an impact on battery life, but if you want to have more control over the videos, eufy gives it to you, which is great.

Performance:

I’ll start by saying the video quality is very nice. It is only 1080p, and while having 4K resolution would have been nice, I’m finding that the 1080p quality of the video is very solid. Clips or live stream video is very clear with little to no jitter or frame rate buffering or pixilation. Quality is best is very bright sunlight, but it holds up very well in dark conditions too. And when it’s too dark for clarity, you can switch to night mode. I do think the night mode could be better, it seems sort of washed out to me, with an overly gray contrast-less appearance, but it’s much better than no night mode at all. Field of view is very good, I think 140° so not super wide, but wide enough, giving a nice clear view of all surroundings.

The motion detection is very fast, and I’ve never missed a portion of a triggered motion event because the camera took too long to start recording. Live view video is also very fast. I can open the app and immediately activate a camera to live stream in just a couple seconds, no buffering or waiting for the connection to happen, it’s all instant. I’ve found the range to be pretty good, not great. I did have to move my home base setup from Ethernet to wifi to make sure I was connected fully to both cameras, which isn’t a big deal, but to me based on the distance of each camera from the home base originally, I would expect slightly better range. But one thing that is nice, is when in the app viewing video, it will show you the current connection signal strength, which I think is awesome. You never have to guess if the camera is connected well or not, because you can see it right on screen.

I’ve not been able to validate the battery life claim of 365 days, obviously, but I will say that with lots of custom settings and video record configurations, my battery meter has not changed from day 1. I’d like to be able to see the actual battery % of each camera, but you can only view the battery icon and it’s status. with all the custom configurations I have I am not expecting a full 365 days, but using other cameras systems that needed to be charged every 30 days or so, this will be a much appreciated change of pace. Even if I can get 6 months before a recharge, it’s well worth it to me.

Audio is an area where I think there could be improvements. The mic in the cameras is way too hot. They are set so hot that even super subtle sounds or just normal ambient sound is amplified in an uncomfortable way. You can control audio volume from low, mid, high, but that doesn’t seem to also lessen the internal mic settings. When scene audio/noise is happening the audio does tend to balance out, so everything does not become just a white noise mess, but overall the audio has been the one distracting element overall for me while using the eufyCam2. The two way audio speak and listen capability is nice, and the audio through the camera seems to be nice and clear, which is good.

Overall:

The eufyCam2 is a solid system. Having used the other top brand versions of similar camera systems, I can say that the eufyCam2 is the system that I’m currently going to be using going forward. Easy setup, loads of custom settings, fast operation and great motion detection highlight the system to me. A subpar night mode and way too hot internal camera mic recording are things that keep the system from being a solid 5 star performer, but aren’t things that would sway me from using it. This is the best motion detection camera system I’ve used, and if the battery life promise even half lives up to its claim, I’m all in!

Solid case, gets the job done nicely

The case is pretty slim, so it’s adding protection without adding a lot of bulk. It puts the emphasis on protection on the sides and corners, and the inside construction of the case has these ridges that disperse impact energy. When looking at it from the side, these ridges appear as lines all down the sides and top and bottom. So not a crystal clear view of the phone from those angles, but you’re getting more drop protection than a case that doesn’t have them. The back is pretty clear, I’d say 90% clear, so no issues with blurring or frosting of the color way of your iPhone. Tech21 cases also have a nice smooth finish, but they have a grippy, almost tactile element about them, so you never have to worry that the phone is going to be too slippery when in this case. The grip is very nice and offers a very secure feeling in the hand.
The one drawback I see in this case, is the case fits more on the “loose” side. Now I’m not worried at all that the phone is going to slip out of the case at all, but I usually prefer a more snug fitting case. One where the phone might need a little bit of effort to fit securely inside. My iPhone dropped right in with little to no effort. Main symptoms of that to me are the sides can flex if small pressure is placed on them, and the buttons have a loose feel to them, not the secure snug feel I like to have.
Overall it’s a great case and gets the job done with a minimalist footprint and nice, mostly clear appearance.

This camera is Great, except the actual video!
By Jason
I love everything about this camera. From the form and function to the ease of setup (less than 2 mins) to mounting it wherever I want. The app is great, the two way communication is great. The motion zones work perfectly once you get used to setting them based on your environment and traffic, etc. The cloud storage option is amazing considering what you get for the price you pay. Everything is amazing, except the actual video quality of the camera. It's supposed to be 720p. It is not, at least not the unit that I have. My video quality is so heavily pixelated most of the time, that it renders having this camera in the first place, useless. The image attached to this review is an completely unedited screen grab from a recent video recording. I've been working with the Ring support, and they have been great, however they kept almost insisting that the reason for the pixelation was due to my wi-fi connection. I have Xfinity cable internet with 100mbps downstream and 25mbps upstream, and I use a Linksys EA9500 router that is about 12-15 feet from where the camera is mounted. Wi-fi signal is not the issue at all. I exchanged speed test screen shots and other details with the Ring support, and after discussing with them they have advised me to return this unit and exchange it for another one. They have looked at my videos and agree the video quality should be better than what I'm seeing. So I will do that and update this review if I do see better results with the new unit. Wish me luck!
UPDATE
June 19, 2016
So I returned the previous unit and exchanged for a new one, at the advice of the Ring support team. The new unit is up and running and I can say the video is better. So far so good!

Nest Doorbell (Wired) lets you know who’s there, so you never miss a thing. It replaces your existing wired doorbell and delivers HD video and bright, crisp images, even at night. It’s designed to show you everything at your doorstep — people head to toe or packages on the ground. And with 24/7 streaming, you can check in anytime. Or go back and look at a 3-hour snapshot history to see what happened.*

How immediate is the notification to your smartphone? My current security has a slight delay but enough that the person is usually gone by time I try to respond.

In my use of the Nest Hello, if someone pushes the doorbell button, the notification is instantaneous, the Nest app chimes my phone alongside our doorbell chime ringing in the house.
