Superior keyless deadbolt
on November 13, 2022
Posted by: Marine778
So like most, I had a deadbolt on my front and garage door. I already replaced my front door deadbolt, but was looking for something unique for my garage door. I ride my motorcycle year round, and usually enter the house from the garage regardless. So lots of times I just left things unlocked since the bay door is closed anyway. Not the smartest thing, but I know I am not the only one that does it.

Anway, so I wanted to have something different and I don’t want a key on it. A smart product for sure, and something with a good keypad. And I was not concerned about something that needed to weather a storm over the years with the odd weather we have in my area. The Yale Assure Lock 2 was the right choice for what I wanted and quite honestly needed.

First off is the keyless entry option. I can unlock it with my iPhone (Don’t have an Android, so I am not sure) and it also works with my apple watch. And of course I can unlock it with a code. The device is Bluetooth capable and has an auto-lock and auto-unlock feature. It also works using all the digital assistants (siri, google, etc).

The install was fairly easy. I am fairly savvy installing things, but when it comes to something that is going to be line of security for my home I wanted to make sure I did it right. The instructions that came with it were great and easy to go by. And of course, you can always turn to YouTube if you need that option. You are not going to use your old hardware for this. It would have been more complicated had I not had a deadbolt in place already. But it used the same holes with little to no modifications. But again, you don’t reuse your existing hardware.

Another feature is the ability to use various codes. So you can track who is coming and going at least as far as the use of the entry code. Or if you have a guest coming and want them to get into the house without you present, you can get them a code via email and they can get in. I see that being handy in an Air BNB setting maybe as well. Not for me, but maybe for someone that has one?

The lock is a great upgrade and I am happy I have it in place now. The added security is one thing, but not having to use a key is a great thing for me and the family to go along with the security aspect. I don’t know what sort of features you are looking for in a deadbolt, but this one hit all the marks for me given the fact that I have a smart home and want to be able to control everything from my phone. I have that with this lock and I recommend it to anyone that wants a keyless option for their home. I would happily recommend it to a friend looking for the same features, and even try and talk them into this Yale Assure Lock 2, even if they wanted a keyed option. I don’t miss it and don’t need it.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Perfect for the iPhone/Airpod user
on November 2, 2022

The iottie Velox magsafe dual charger is one of many like it on the market. those things on the market. There are many brands making a similar product and at variety of price points. You might even see some options at the check stand at your local retailer. But not all chargers are created equal. Often times you get what you pay for and you can feel the difference in quality.
So in saying all that, I’ll start by saying I already have a product like this from a well known brand. The dual charger I have charges both your phone and an Apple Watch. The iottie charges your iPhone and your AirPods.
Both are great. But what I like about the iOttie is the MagSafe function coupled with the way it looks and its reliability. If you don’t know what MagSafe is by now, it’s basically the ability to magnetically connect things to the back of select iPhones if you utilize the right case on your phone. This allows for you to literally connect your phone to the top circular charger on the Ottie. Similarly, if you have a MagSafe capable set of AirPods, you can place them in the lower charger (one that looks like a small tray).
Why do I say reliable? Because you feel the phone and AirPods snap into place when you put them on the charger. In comparison to the other one I have, the iPhone rests against the charging plate and if it’s off center it won’t charge. So if you don’t notice it, you may have placed it wrong and your phone is not charging. Which is obviously frustrating. No issue with this charger.
Finally the look. The heavy base if for form and function. But does well both ways. And I really like the look of the metal arm holding the iPhone charger portion. They could have easily went cheaper and made it plastic, and it would probably be almost as nice. But the chromed metal just looks and feels more substantial.
As far as charging? Well that is something that really matters here. To be honest it no different than any other magnetic charger I’ve used. Takes the same amount of time to charge. So this aspect of it is sort of a wash. The top plate is 7.5W and the AirPods plate is 5W. I can’t tell a difference compared to other charging plates, but I know it works well and is reliable.
All in all, I’d definitely recommend it to anyone that needs a dual charger for iPhone and AirPods. It won’t charge an Apple Watch, I’ve tried it. But if you use both those devices constantly and want a single station to charge them on, this is a great option for you and I’d recommend it.

Neato D10's 300 minute runtime, covering 2,700 square feet on a single charge, makes it ideal for large homes. You can't use circles to clean a square corner. Neato's D-shape allows for a 70% larger brush than those found in round robots along with an industry-leading 0.70 liter dirt bin that holds more dirt between cleanings. Neato D10 offers corner-to-corner and edge-to-edge cleaning in a short amount of time and its unique Helix multi-surface brush is now 50% quieter on hard surfaces. Neato D10 offers 60% greater dirt pickup than D3 & D5. The powerful performance is combined with an easy-to-clean true HEPA filter that captures up to 99.97% of allergens and fine dust particles as small as 0.3 microns. Equipped with energy-saving Eco Mode for general vacuuming to high-performance Turbo Mode and D10's exclusive new Max Mode means Neato's D10 gets the job done. The Neato D10 uses LaserSmart powered by LIDAR, same technology used in self-driving vehicles, to map and navigate your home with precision, leaving your carpets with those satisfying straight vacuum lines in no time. Because it uses lasers, not cameras, to navigate your home it works just as well in low light conditions like under furniture and never records images of you and your belongings. It also doesn't have microphones on board and features state-of-the-art encryption both on the robot and in the cloud. With regular software updates sent automatically, you can feel confident you're getting the latest features as soon as they're released. Get cleaning in minutes with Neato’s hassle-free setup using the MyNeato app. Create Zones to target trouble spots more often—like crumbs under the dining table. Create No-Go Zones to avoid spaces such as a pet dish or child’s play area. Clean where you want, when you want—on demand or scheduled in advance. Next level robot vacuum
on October 25, 2022
Posted by: Marine778
The Neato Robotics D-10 Intelligent Wifi Robot vacuum is like the Tesla of floor cleaners. After reading this review you will understand that perspective. First off let me just point out one common sense thing they did that apparently is not as common as it should be. Look at the “D” shape of the machine. The front of the machine is squared off. Makes sense right? You’re never going to get dirt out of the corner of a room with a round headed vacuum right? Well problem solved. This thing hits the corners way better, eliminating the need to go behind the machine with a broom.
So the Tesla comment right? Well this thing has some sort of laser sensor system they call LIDAR. It senses items and just turns away from them. It works well too. So if you have ever used a robot vacuum before they just go around running into things and tend to retrace the same path over and over leaving so much floor untouched. This one is not perfect, but man is it better than others I’ve used. And at the same price point mind you. This is just better. More accurate, not coverage and hits better angles. Also you can set up no-go zones to make sure the vacuum avoids areas you don’t want it to touch. I am still messing with this.
Oh, and it boasts a 300 minute run time? I didn’t try to even get close to that. I’ve had it run for two hours max, and it showed no sign of stopping. Supposedly that means I can double that number? I’ll have to try it and see.
Now it says it deep cleans, and frankly that’s just not accurate to me. It will not do what an upright vacuum will do. It does not have that level of suction. But I am not expecting it too, it’s a maintenance device, it is something to use between actual deep cleanings.
The Neato has a bigger catch bin and brushes than the one I had before. And frankly it’s just better all around. I wish it had a way to unload its own catch tray, but thats not the end of the world. The tray is larger and requires less maintenance for the user. But if it would do it on its own, that would still be better.
Overall I’m impressed and I’ve used three of these things over the years. Tech is making advances everywhere and this is just another example. Definitely with a look if you want a robot vac that works well on carpet and hardwood. I would definitely recommend it.

Great garage camera and remote opener
on October 15, 2022
Posted by: Marine778
I liked the idea of being able to remotely control my garage door from my phone and adding a camera was an added bonus for me. I have remotes in my cars, just like everyone else. But nothing for when I was riding my motorcycle. So adding the Wyze Indoor/Outdoor Camera with remote was a cool upgrade for me.

Just a warning up front though. You need to check the compatibility of your system before you get this. Not all garage door opens work with this set up. I am not sure if there are other ones specifically set up for other systems, but just be warned up front. If it does not work with your garage door opener, then obviously you lose that feature, but you still have a solid cam working in the garage.

So about that camera. It is HD quality, not 4K. That said, it is definitely good enough for the garage and I get solid videos when I get an alert. For me the router was close enough to the garage that it grabbed the signal fairly well. The base that attaches to the camera is magnetic, and the garage door motor is on a steel frame. So instead of attaching it to the ceiling or wall, I stuck it right to the frame and ran the power cable to the ceiling where the motor plugs into. Then I ran the wires up the frame and hid them in the frame so it looked cleaner. The camera view was upside down, but you can adjust that in your settings by doing a 180 Degree flip of the view. I catch anything that moves in there now, which is great because that is where my Road Glide sleeps.

As far as the remote module, just make sure you are plugging it in the right spots on your motor body. Mine has four slots on the side, and I had one of the two wires in the wrong place. So when I went to use it, it would hear a click and nothing happened. I realized what I had done after it didn’t work and I fixed it.

The app is great as well. Setting up an account and setting things up had a little learning curve. And of course they have a paid option you can get, and they give you something like a week to use the paid version for free so you fall in love with it. I am happy with the free version, but I can see the benefit in video storage if you need it. I do not.

So for the price you are paying, this thing is amazing. Honestly I would pay more for it, even double. So for anyone wanting garage security at a basic level, I highly suggest looking at this as your starting point. I think it is a good buy and a great feature packed option.

Quality at a reasonable price
on September 25, 2022

Over the years, Insignia has really developed into a household brand. Really a house brand for Best Buy, they have been making affordable options that look great and function just as well as the larger names brands. Personally, I get a lot of Insignia products, mainly accessories for my electronics. I really love their phone cases.
The Insignia 35W dual port USB-C wall charger is another great release for them. I use it for my iPhone and iPad Pro, which both require a USB-C port outlet.
The construction of the device is quality and everything feels well made. The plug folds into the body to allow for portability.
Does it charge any faster than the parent brand? I’m not sure, but it claims to be fast charging. Personally I don’t see a difference in charging time at all. So it’s at least a similar speed.
The best part is of course that you can charge two devices at the same time, vice one at a time. And to top it off it’s a significantly better price. Win win right?
No brainer really, if you need a dual port USB-C wall plug this is the one for you. I’d definitely get another one if I needed to and I highly recommend it.

Fast, economical work horse printer
on September 20, 2022
Posted by: Marine778
The HP LaserJet Tank 2604 is a game changer for me. It’s always been a battle of inject vs laser printers with each better at different things. I like laser because you can pump out a ton of paper fast and the detail is decent. Although the cartridges can be speedy, they last for a long time and from my experience have been the most economical.
On the other hand inkjets have a level of detail that can’t be touched by a laser printer. And with the technology of recent years where you can refill your ink bins without buying cartridges that can tightened the competition between the two.
Until seeing this printer, I didn’t know laser printer had gone to ink refill trays as well. Although this is only black and white printing, it was what I wanted anyway. Honestly in sick of buying color cartridges when all we do is use it for black and white anyway.
It calls itself an all in one, but really it’s not. It’s a flatbed scanner and a printer. I know it’s not an option in this printer, but I’d like to see an integrated e-fax option. Granted, the fax machine is an old tool, but since this is being used in my wife’s business it’s still a relevant business tool. Would be a nice option, but I knew what I was getting so I’m not mad about it.
So the website throws a bunch of numbers at you and tells you the resolution is good. Well awesome, but I don’t have anything to make a comparison with. So how does it look?!
It’s sharp. For black and white it’s crisp and has excellent resolution. The best setting is 600 x 600 dpi. To the eye it’s awesome and that’s how I gauge it. Not “good enough”. It’s actually really good resolution and I’m happy with it.
The printer has an app that I’m still playing around with. Fairly intuitive app, and it was easy to set up and link my printer. Not sure that I will use it that often. But it does give you the opportunity to fine tune your printer as well as other things like the ability to order supplies.
Of note one thing I really liked was the tray capacity. It took like half a ream of paper which was a little more than the one it’s replacing. Also it prints much faster than the laser printer I have. Maybe it’s the ink vs toner? Not sure, but this printer was substantially faster.
At the end of the day, would I recommend it? Definitely. It’s a big win for anyone needing a black and white work horse printer. I’m really happy I have it and I’d get another one if I needed one for sure.

Safe, durable and feature packed.
on September 5, 2022

The JBuddies Pro wireless over the ear headphones are perfect for your little one. They are at a great price point in case they get lost or broken. But they are also fairly substantial and feel well made for the kid that is harder on things.
But better than the quality of build is the safety feature that is integrated. That’s what hooked me. The headphones will not go louder than 85 db, helping ensure your child’s hearing is not affected if the decide to turn the volume all the way up. There is a volume toggle where you can bump it up to 95 db max, but I don’t see the need for my child.
As far as comfort, I ask my daughter and she says they are great. That’s relative, but there are a few features that make them more adjustable than many other budget friendly earphones. First off the cup molds are very soft and form around the ears nicely. They do a great job blocking out sound and maintaining comfort. The hinges are also adjustable and make things even easier to customize for your child. I like that.
The earphones are also Bluetooth or have the option to plug them in. It comes with the cord to plug them in and if you want to go Bluetooth you get a 35 hour battery life. That’s really good.
The sound quality is decent and I would say on par for something in this price range. But given the fact they cup the ears so well they almost give a noise cancelling affect, which in turn gives you a better quality of sound.
The earphones can be controlled on your device or with the buttons on the bottom of the ear cup. Very simple intersect and easy for the kids to catch on.
At the end of the day, I would definitely get another pair of these if I were to need another set. Mainly for the safety features and second for the quality you are getting at their price range. I recommend these to any like minded parents that have the same concerns.

Best I have used to date
on August 21, 2022
Posted by: Marine778
As a concerned parent with a now 2 month old baby girl, my wife and I were looking for a way to monitor our baby girl, mainly while we are sleeping (if we ever get to sleep). Not our first child, but non the less there is still that level or paranoia that comes with being a parent of a newborn. As a result, we now have the Owlet Duo with the Cam 2 and Sleep Sock. I have used the Sleep Sock alone before and it is pretty impressive. But that child aged out of it a long time ago.
Let me say that I don’t trust tech when it comes to my daughters. Especially this one that has reflux issues and we constantly battle her not being able to burp or hold down her milk. I say this because I am not going to go downstairs and make dinner while the baby is asleep upstairs, I just won’t but that much burden on a piece of tech and that is for my own well being. But I will use this more than a cam alone and I will tell you why.
So from a Parent perspective, the Dream Sock is amazing. To be able to monitor heart rate and oxygen is pretty awesome. Sort of like a smart watch strapped to your baby’s foot. So when you get notified of a disturbance you can react accordingly, whether that be attending to the baby or attempt to monitor trends for the baby’s sleep patterns. Image seeing elevated heart rate or getting a notification for that while you are somewhere you can’t notice it? Pretty smart idea. Do your research, this Dream Sock has won a lot of awards. It’s a really simple idea, and it works well.
The Cam 2 is an updated version of the HD cam that came in the previous version of the Duo pack. I did not use the other one, so I don’t know how the difference. I know the Cam 2 Duo is only $40 more than the HD pack, so I figure that is worth the difference. So it works from your phone. It has night vision and the ability to zoom using your phone (I think something like 4X). The night vision works very well and you can see great detail. Also there is a kit to mount the camera if you don’t want it on a night stand.
I have not experimented with the predictive sleep technology. Mainly because when my daughter is tired it is obvious. She flails a lot and fights sleep hard, so right now I am getting too many alerts. She has bad colic and some reflux issues, so this particular feature as well as the Sleep Assist prompts are far from accurate for me. That does not mean it will be off for you, it is totally my fussy little monster and I know it.
At first I thought this was over the top and I was happy with the cam we already had. But the Sock is the difference maker. The tech in that think is amazing and really helps you be a ease at least a little bit.
All in all, I definitely recommend this to anyone with a newborn. I have to say its the best I have used and I have tried four different others, two in a comparable price range. Definitely worth your investment for the safety of your little one.

Finally one that works!
on July 2, 2022

I have a two story home, and the gaming console and our “media room” is on the second level of the house pretty far from router. There is enough of a link to run things, but the speed is on the edge of insufficient. I have in the past purchased a few different range extenders, but they were hit and miss. For the most part, they could connect to the existing signal and essentially extend it, but I only received minimal if any boost over running it off the origin signal alone. Waste of money, and I was not going to buy the double the price ones from my service provider.

So TP-Link has been around forever and I have some of their other products. They are always well made, they are durable and they are of a higher level when if comes to function. So in trying the AX3000 I had a certain expectation with that in mind. After trying it for a few weeks now, I have to say I am not disappointed.

The thing I like the most about it is that I get a decent boost. That is the point right? I tested the ratings on wifi alone and compared it to when I linked my phone to the extender. I saw a 15-20% boost depending on where I was upstairs. That is pretty significant and it was enough to give me a “good” signal on my TV in the media room.

I also like that fact that it will handle your 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz signals separately. So devices like my smart lights and other items that prefer 2.4Ghz have their specific signal to connect to. With my service provider (and with most from what I learned) your signals broadcast with the same name and it is up to the individual device to distinguish which one they want. With my smart lights, I couldn’t get them to connect for the life of me and I was not going to buy a setup that would manage everything for me for $200+ dollars. Now it works just fine!

Another thing that is awesome is the app. Not only is it extremely intuitive, it also steps you through connecting the two channels and you can name them something independent of what your router broadcasts. There is also a feature for showing you the optimal distance from the router for the device to be most effective. Unfortunate for me, I don’t have any plugs in the “optimal” location, but I placed it as close as I could to the ideal location and I am pleased with the results.

Like I started with, I have never been impressed with range extenders but this one changed my mind. It can really handle a higher speed internet connection as well, for those of you measuring speed of 1GBPS or more. I think this is rated at up to 3 GBPS which is insane! I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking to boost a dead spot in their home like me. I am impressed and I will definitely get another one if I end up needing one.

Good bang for your buck

The Corsair HS65 headset is a great entry level gaming accessory at a reasonable price. That is one thing that I have noticed about the brand. They are extremely budget friendly, and you get lot of bang for your buck. They have various levels of upgraded components in all their products, but I find that even the entry level options are fairly strong entries when compared to their competition. During this review I’m not comparing it to others, but I’ll discuss what I feel the value of the product is for the price you are paying.

So as far as the HS65, it is listed that it is compatible with both PC and PS4/5. There is not mention of the Xbox, and that concerned me since that is the platform we use at our house. However, just so you know it works on Xbox.

The headset has a standard auxillary 3.5mm plug. The wired connection has a lengthy wire, and is more than enough to give you the freedom of movement you need.

At first glance the headset is a very sleek and stylish product. From the leatherette padding to the cups, and even the mic that you can move up/down so it can be out of the way if you need it to be. It is made with a combination of plastic and aluminum components and it is extremely light weight. The cups are angled perfectly for use and allow for a very comfortable placement on your head. So, I have a big head and I know it. Wearing this I did not feel restricted or uncomfortable. On the flip side, my daughter stole them from me and she says they are extremely comfortable as well. So it works for both sides.

So generally the most important aspect for a headset aside from the comfort level would be the sound. The headset boasts Dolby 7.1, but specifies for Mac and PC. I am no audiophile by any means, so type of drivers it has and all that means very little to me as a consumer. I go by what I like and it is even better if I can find a demo pair at a store to try. That said, they sound really good to me. When I tried them on CoD, I heard everything around me, and in far superior level than when you just listen off your TV or have a home surround sound system. There are subtle things you miss, and the headset picks them up. I read where some people note some distortion while using it on different platforms? I tried it on my PC, the Xbox X, an iPad and on Switch, and I didn’t notice any issues.

On top of the sound, the mic picks things up really well. My friends did not note any distortion and said they heard me just fine. No different then when using a headset 3-4X the price.

Here is the thing. My daughter is starting to get into gaming and as with anything a kid does you don’t know if they will stick with it for more than an hour. Its like that Christmas present they HAD to have and now it collects dust. For the price and quality of this headset it would be ideal for that. Plus, for the budget gamer it is a great option. Even more than that, really. It is a good, comfortable and well made headset and I would buy an additional pair of I needed another.

Can I pick up merchandise at Best Buy the same day I purchase online

If your local store has it in stock. You will be able to tell that when you go through the online check out process and select the store you want to pick up at. Better chance at a larger store, like the ones that have a huge appliance section. Otherwise, you will have to wait for it to get to the store after you order. And it that case, it would probably better to ship it to your home.

Create delicious specialty coffees with this Keurig K-Cafe single-serve coffee maker. An integrated milk frothing compartment produces hot or cold milk for use with lattes and cappuccinos and is dishwasher safe for easy cleaning. Smart start technology lets this Keurig K-Cafe single-serve coffee maker brew without the need for a lengthy preheating process.

Is there an option to make a pot of coffee with this one?

No. It is an Nespress (espresso) maker. You can do an Americano if you want to, but by no means is it made to work like a Keurig for drip coffee.

What is the process for making a latte? Is there a separate reservoir for cream or milk and if so, can powdered creamer be used since it won't spoil?

The milk frother (shown in the photo on this site) is a separate device. It is a one serving at a time sort of think. Fill it, pour it, clean it, repeat. So no worry about spoiling or powdered anything. It actually works really well. I was really surprised.

can this accommodate 12 muffins pan?

No. Look at the product page for it on the website. At the bottom it shows the dimensions of the trays it uses. Off the top of my head, I think they are 13" wide. So maybe a half dozen size pan at the most, but definitely not a dozen.

Only at Best BuyShield your Apple iPhone 6 or 6s against damage with this Speck Candyshell Inked SPK-A3133 case, which features an antiscratch finish and military-grade drop protection for comprehensive defense. The graphic design creates a stylish look.

Are the volume and lock buttons easy to push with the case on?

They are super easy to use. I had an otterbox before and those buttons tend to be a little stiff. These are not. They protect the buttons well without compromising ease of use. You will be happy with it.
