Great bang for your buck

The Instant small room air purifier is an attractive, functional and effective if you are looking for something to cover a smaller area. Something like an office or bedroom, which is what we decided to use it for. It is simple, and lacks some of the frills that others may have, but in striping it down you get an extremely effective product for a very reasonable price.
The device boasts a 8 months of life on the filter if used in eco mode. Obviously there is no way for me to tell if that is accurate only having it for a short time. There is a light that is supposed to pop on when the filter is done, which is a feature you expect to have. And speaking of the filter, it is very substantial.
The machine is super quiet. I have three machines in my home, and by far this is the most quiet. That could be because it is only having to work in a small room and it does not need to have a more powerful motor. But regardless, it is not even noticeable, maybe a slight white noise to it.
This is not a connected device, meaning it does not have an app nor can it connect to you wifi or be operated by your phone. It is a very simple device that just works.
Times are uncertain right now, and there is really no end is sight for this COVID environment. I deal with people all day, and having something in my office is a good piece of mind for me if nothing else. If you need something for a small area that is reasonably priced and effective, this is a great option for you. I highly recommend it.

Perfect Hard drive expansion for your game system

When you get the newest version of the Xbox, the more you pay the better memory and options you are going to get. And when you want speed of access to your memory on your Xbox, you want SSD vs a standard HD. Also, this works with your PS 5 if that is your choice of a system to play with. Regardless of your system, the Western Digital D30 Game Drive is an amazing add on to your game system.
SSD memory is faster as I mentioned, but unless you have a faster USB port, it is almost worthless. But this has a USB C connection which is much faster than your standard USB style connector. The point being, is that this portable drive is a very small drive in size, but it has a whole 1TB of memory for your system.
You will see that WD has other options and they hold more memory. I think one of them holds 2TB. That is great if you are looking for more memory, but those drives have your standard HDD drive which as I mentioned before is significantly slower. And as my Gamer son tells me, games are all about speed. Not just how fast your internet speed is, but also how fast your device performs.
As far as performance, I don’t have any way to tell just how fast it is, and I don’t have a standard USB device to show me the difference. So the manufacturer says a read speed of 900MB per second. Again, I don’t have a point of reference for comparison, but in actually using it I cannot see a difference between accessing something from the game system vs accessing something off the hard drive. So to me, that is more than I need (or my son needs).
The drive itself is substantial. It is well made, and feels well made. It is sleek and black and matches the look of a game system. Plus it is small so you can hide it out of the way or at least it wont take up much space in the shelf.
This is a great product that I would be happy to get again. It meets all my needs and it has the performance to back it up. If someone were to ask me what hard drive they should add to their game system, there is no doubt this would be my first thought and choice. I highly recommend it for you PS5 and Xbox fans.

Excellent value for your dollar

The Purezone Halo by Pyre Enrichment is a great small room option for air purification. They call it a 2-in-1, because it filters as well as works as a very effective fan. To give you a perspective of what I used if for so far, I have tried it in both my office and in my master bedroom.
As a filter it is supposed to get 99.97% of the impurities out of the air. This includes dust, pollen, pet dander, etc. Obviously I have zero idea if this is true, but based on the quality and seal of the filter I don’t doubt it. On that note, make sure to open the machine before you start it. The filter is sealed/wrapped and you will not get the benefits of it until you unwrap it.
Since this is supposed to operate in a smaller area, you want to ensure it would be quiet right? It is definitely quiet, a little above a whisper and the sound it does make is relaxing. There are three settings (speeds for the fan) and even on high it is not bad.
They call this a halo, and it does have a circular light that resonates nicely at night. It has two settings, one brighter than the other. It is a bright blue/purple color. Coupled with the fan sound it is very satisfying. You can also turn it off.
On thing that I did not expect was you can set a timer for three preset times. You can have it for two, four or eight hours. Or of course you can have it always on.
In a COVID world this things is good reassurance if nothing else. I work in a place where I am constantly interviewing people. As such, having in my office is completely inconspicuous. Plus, given the fact that the AC is terrible in my building that fan helps a lot too!
So far I am very impressed with this product. I would definitely recommend the Purezone Halo for anyone that wants to purify a small space and wants to do it for a reasonable price. I feel the product is a great value for the dollar, so much so that I feel it is almost underpriced. I would buy this product if I needed another one for a small space in my home or an office.

Take your presentation to the next level

The Sampson Wireless Microphone XPD series is a true performer. If you want to take your presentation to the next level in a larger setting where you need to amplify your voice, this is it.
Works best with line of sight, but it says it works up to 98 feet away. Just to try it, I used it through a wall with limited success. So line of sight is the best way in my experience. I have not tested it nearly close to the maximum distance, as the computer set up I use is typically closer to me than the audience.
The transmitter part connects easily to your belt. It doesn’t restrict movement in anyway, and it is about the size of a small pager (am I dating myself?). Since I usually wear a suit jacket, this the mic up to my tie and boom. Ready for action.
The receiver you just plug into the side of your computer. I use a Mac, but you can also use it just as easily with a PC, as it is dual compatible.
So this thing is made for presentations. So if you think you are going to use it to play super spy and record peoples conversations, you are mistaken. First of all that is illegal in many states (two party consent is needed). And second, this is not what it is made for and it won’t work for that. I am only saying this, because my friend looked at it and asked if it could be used for that purpose. After making fun of him, he eventually understood.
This is a tool for presentations. Much like the clicker you hold in your hand, this just takes things to a more professional level and to me is meant to be used with a larger audience. The price is very reasonable for what you are getting and the quality of the device is top notch.
For anyone looking to conduct speeches to larger groups where you need to project your voice, this is the tool for you. I highly recommend it.

The ultimate party speaker!

I don’t even know where to begin with this speaker! First of all, this thing is a monster. Basically think of it as a combination between a large floor speaker and a portable unit. It has the power and output of a floor speaker, coupled with the portability and convenience of a portable unit.
The speaker as you would assume is Bluetooth capable. I used it attached to my iPhone and iPad so far. The connection was seamless and simple. Just find it on your phone and connect to the signal. The signal is the same as the model number of the device (XP700).
The speaker is huge as I mentioned before. So you would think it has to be plugged in all the time to have all that power going to it? Nope. The thing has a crazy 25 hour battery life! Maybe I have been living in a cave or something. But this is the first speaker I have owned of this size that has a battery like this. So essentially you can charge it and let it play at a day long party outside with ease. Personally, I have not tried it for more than a few hours at a time, but it works equally well plugged in or not plugged in.
The sound is the most important aspect with a speaker obviously. Voices are clear as a crystal in spoken word or song. The bass punches hard and both are adjustable. To be honest, for the price I expected performance. I was not disappointed at all!
It says it is water resident to splashes, but I will obviously not test that. But given the fact that it is very humid where I live that is a bonus.
The last thing is something I have not tested either, since it is not my thing. But apparently the manual says that you can use this speaker as an amp for your guitar. It also has a mic input, so I think this would have some karaoke options if that is your thing.
In closure, this is the ultimate party speaker. It will last longer than you will, with the long battery life. But it is not a portable unit for a book shelf. It has strong sound and lots of punch. But I would definitely recommend this thing to anyone that entertains. The quality is top tier and I really like it. You will too.

Cordless Professional Grade Hair and Beard Trimmer

Sleek and well balanced Trimmer

For years, I have used a Bevel brand safety razor. It is heavy, well balanced and by far one of favorite safety razors to use. So naturally, seeing that they made a hair/beard trimmer peaked my interest. I have a ton of beard and hair trimmer, probably too many. That said, I wanted one product that would take the place of many.
Appearance: Just like any Bevel brand product, they obviously put some thought into the looks of the trimmer. It has sleek lines and a great weight and balance to it. It just looks streamlined and slightly futuristic compared to the many other options on the market. You know what if feels like opening an Apple product? Its like that.
Use: I have a very large thick and curly beard. Cheap trimmers will be lost in it. Most everything trims unevenly and even pull on the hair too much. For my hair and for cutting my son’s hair the blade is great. Super wide and super sharp. It lines him up well and it is very precise. The head of the trimmer is easily removable and snaps on and off with ease. Also, if you want to increase or decrease the size of the cutting blade, you simply removed the head and spin the small wheel on the bottom side of the blade. This will make the adjustment and you can see the blade edge moving to the desired length. That was a really smart way to do it, unlike others where you have to literally unscrew the blade to remove it.
In addition, this blade cuts skin close. As close as you can get to having a shave. As far as irritation goes, I will have to wait and see. I have super sensitive skin, particularly on my neck. So far so good. And as far as my beard trim? It cuts extremely even, which is hard to do for me with the curly hair.
Charge: The charge is supposed to last 8 hours. I in no way have come even close to using it even ONE hour as of yet. So I cannot say it is accurate or not. However, I have zero reason to believe it is inaccurate. The battery is removable, which in and of itself is unique.
Cleaning: Simply remove the blade and wipe it down. Re-oil as needed. It is that simple.
Pros: Easy to clean, wide blade, good weight, easy to adjust, good balance and sleek/sexy.
Cons: I will let you know when I find some. The only thing I see is the price, as it is about $80 or more over the price of it’s nearest competitor.
This a high end product, but may not be the one stop shop I wanted. I still prefer a safety razor on my neck, as I know I have no irritation with that. But as far as hair and beard trimming, this one is now my go to trimmer. I have never used one this nice before, and in my opinion you are getting what you pay for with the product.

A fast, light, advanced and versatile workhorse

To begin with, my point of reference for doing this evaluation is coming from someone that generally uses Apple products. Not that one is better than the other, they both have their strengths and weaknesses. When I look at a computer, I don’t look for work. I have a crappy work computer and I cannot use outside computers for my job. So I look at the computer as more of a home computer. Something used for mild to medium home oriented work, and for my kids to use for school. With that in mind, I know hat I want in a computer. I want a decent sized screen, the fastest processor I can afford (to include the most RAM) and the most memory I can get (prefer SSD over HHD).
Anyone can do a review and quote the stats listed on the manufacturer’s website or here on Best Buy. So I am going to go over the ones that are relevant to me. To begin with, as you can see in the photos the outside casing for the computer is aluminum. Great for small drops, which unfortunately happened to me out of the box. It was onto carpet, so it was not too harsh, but I feel it offers more protection when compared to its plastic counter parts. I doubt much more though. Inside where the keyboard it, the 9310 is plastic. They keyboard is backlit, and the keys are comfortable and responsive.
For security on the 9310, you have two options. There is the option to use facial recognition or the other biometric option of using your fingerprint. I tried both, and both work well. With the fingerprint, it works flawlessly. If you look at the top right corner of your keyboard you will see a blank key/button. That is the one you use for your fingerprint security option. As for the facial recognition, once you set it up it will utilize the camera at the top middle edge of your screen. When it is working, you will see a cartoon eye searching for your face, and red lights flashing on either side of the camera. Sometimes you have to adjust your proximity to the camera to get it to see your face properly. Also, if will not see you properly if you are wearing a mask.
The screen on the 9310 is one of the best parts of the computer. It has an edge to edge screen, with very little margin on the sides. The resolution is UHD, which is 4K if I am not mistaken. And of course the best part of it…..the thing has a touch screen! Why the heck does the Macbook not have one? This is simply amazing.
The 9310 has 16GB of RAM, and 512GB of SSD memory. Coupled with a Intel Evo i7 processor this thing hums. I don’t know the speed in comparison to the competition, but I know it is faster than I am used to. Things load instantly, and there is no lag.
Cortana is the MSN version of Apple’s popular Siri digital assistant. This allows you to use your voice to engage different things on your computer. Such as launch an app or open something. I personally don’t like using a digital assistant as much as some do, so I don’t use this feature. However, it is an option if it something you enjoy.
Windows 10 is the operating system for this laptop. One of the reasons I abandoned Microsoft products on general was the changes that were made to windows after windows 7. That is when they started to use the less attractive and less intuitive format that was on their computers and tablets. At that point they lost me to Apple. But with Windows 10, they went back to a similar format they had last in Windows 7. Anyway, the operating system is back to what I would call normal, and I like is much better.
One thing you need to consider when buying this computer is the fact that it only has two USB-C connections. It also has a slot for a SD card. But there is no regular USB drive and there is no DVD drive on the computer. Truly, if you are looking for a DVD drive on a laptop anymore, your options are extremely limited because nobody uses them anymore. Fortunately for those needing a regular USB connection, the 9310 comes with a USB-C to USB adapter for free. No need to go buy one.
Another thing I noticed on other reviews, was that people did not like the speakers on the 9310. Personally? I am not seeking Bose surround sound here, it’s a computer and if I want to listen to music I will use a Bluetooth speaker. For games I would use headphones. So for me the speakers are good enough for what I need them for. Not to the audiophile standard for sure, but closer to middle of the road.
To me, these are the things I look at when getting a computer. I am no programmer, but I am not a basic user either. However, I feel this computer will be a workhorse for anyone from beginner to expert. I highly recommend this laptop to anyone that wants a slim, light, fast and versatile computer for personal or professional use.

Piece of mind in uncertain times

In uncertain times, anything that can help us maintain cleanliness, respiratory health and our general well being is something we should strongly consider pursuing. The Blueair HealthProtect 7470i was something I wanted to add to our house even before the COVID-19 outbreak. I have allergies, and during allergy season it doesn’t matter if you are inside or not. It still bothers me. I don’t have to go into depth on allergies or the bad things in the air, you are reading this because you are interested in the Blueair 7470i. Of the various models the brand has, this one is able to handle larger rooms.
The good:
1. FILTER: According to the instructions, the filter is able to 99.97% of airborne particles. This includes things like dust pollen, smoke, gases, odors, bacteria, viruses, mold and many other things. The HEPA filter is replaceable, not something you wash off and place back in the machine, I see it as on par with the more expensive allergen filters. I am not sure if it is proprietary, but it is definitely made specifically for the machine based on fitment alone.
2. SOUND: The Blueair 7470i is super quiet, and with the typical ambient noise in any home you will not notice it at all. Even when it is going at max performance. It is a little both quieter than a circulating fan, and that again is when the 7470i is going full power. The air it blows out is nice and cool. 22dB on Low, and 45dB on high.
3. INTERFACE: The digital interface is easy to use and looks nice. Most importantly though, it functions well. Although I have no issues with the interface as far as use, I do have one “con” which will be listed below.
4. COVERAGE: This machine is the biggest option and is suited for a living room, master bedroom or a room of that size. I have it in my living room, as it is where we enter the house and in general where we spend most of our time.
5. LOOKS/FUNCTION: The 7470i is an attractive device and fits nicely in a corner near an outlet. It is tall instead of wide which is better for saving space. It has wheels on the bottom so you can move it with ease. The cord wraps around the bottom of the machine so there is no slack between the machine and the outlet for a cleaner appearance. The look and feel of the 7470i is one of quality, and you can immediately tell it is well made.
The Bad:
1. CONNECTIVITY: I mask my WiFi settings, so nobody can see my device. Obviously I do this for security, and it is something I don’t plan on changing. When I tried to connect the 7440i to my internet connection, all the public listings show up (ie neighbors, comcast public connection, etc). Normally when you connect a device to anything it gives you the option to make a manual connection. That way I can enter my account info and connect. This device does not allow you to enter a manual connection, so I am unable to control the device through the app. That is unfortunate, but something I would like to be fixed in an update. This is my ONLY con for the Blueair 7470i.
The verdict? Well I am completely satisfied with the looks, performance and value of the 7470i. At the price point like anything else it is an investment. But do your homework. You will see you get a great return on your dollar if you buy the 7470i. I would recommend it to anyone that is an allergy sufferer, as well as anyone that wants that extra piece of mind like my family did. I highly recommend it, and will likely get another one soon.

Skullcandy continues to impress

The Skullcandy Hesh Evo over the ear headphones give you a lot of bang for your buck. When the brand first came out, they were extremely basic and the sound quality was extremely limited and underwhelming. Times have definitely changed in my opinion. If you are looking for a high end audiophile worthy product, Skullcandy is not typically coming up in the conversation. For the price point, you are not going to get the sound quality to meet that high of an expectation. But at this price point, it’s an excellent starter kit.
As I did with my son, this was the first brand and model of noise reduction headphones for my daughter. My thought was, that if she can take good care of these, we will upgrade later. At the same time, Covid came around and getting them became a necessity rather than a splurge.
So far these have been a God sent. We have a younger daughter, who totally bugs the heck out of our second grader. This has helped a lot so she can focus without the distractions around the house. Plus, she has moderate attention issues, and this has helped her focus more.
If you want to read about the technical specs, you should go on the website as I don’t know what half of that means. I know they sound great and that is the main thing for me. Obviously they are Bluetooth capable, and they fit over the ears vice on the ears or in the ears. The Bluetooth connects quickly and automatically if desired. They are adjustable, but tend to be on the smaller side. But the best thing for me, is the fact that they have a battery life of over 30 hours. Also, one unexpected bonus is that these headphones have a Tile device built into them so you can locate them when your 7 year old leaves them at her friend’s house and begins to freak out (not that it will ever happen to you two weeks after getting them).
Overall, Skullcandy makes a good product. That good product has gotten better with every generation of headphones they release, and at this point you are getting more for less for sure. I would have expected these to be around the $200 range and would have been comfortable paying that much for them. At the end of the day, I would recommend these to anyone looking for a quality pair of headphones. I think they are even on sale now....so extra bonus for you!

The Bissel Pet Stain Eraser Cordless Portable Carpet Cleaner is the first portable carpet cleaner I’ve tried, and I have to day I am impressed. I opted for this model for one main reason. I have two rugrats that seem to believe my wife’s car is their personal garbage bin. That of course is a story for another time. But with that said, the carpet in her SUV is suffering and I wanted an option to clean it.
For starters, this carpet cleaner gets into the harder to reach spaces that a larger cleaner would not be able to handle. You can get portable hand vacs that really vacuum well, but unless you get a professional to clean your car with the appropriate attachments, there are not really many options. This cleaner is a good option to be that cleaner when you need more than a vacuum and less than a professional cleaning job. It really goes deep and cleans dried on imbedded stains.
The formula it uses is a no mix product. I thought that was odd, because usually when one uses a carpet cleaner you have to fill mix it with water to thin out the concentrate. This is not like that, you just pour it in and get to work.
The battery says it lasts about 20 minutes, and I think that depends of how hard you put it to work. I think that is a pretty accurate number though, I did the whole car with multiple refills before it died. That was pretty decent and just what I needed it to do.
Afterwards, the cleaner is very easy to clean. Everything comes apart easily and afterwards the seals are still tight and it did not leak. The cleaner never overheated and even the brushes are easy to remove, clean and replace.
For what I need this for, and how it performs, I have no complaints. In fact I am really happy with how well it works and I think it has a lot of bang for your buck. Definitely a great option for small spot cleaning or more detailed cleaning areas like that of a vehicle. I would definitely buy again if I was on the market for another portable cleaner, and I recommend it to anyone that has a pet or rugrats like me.

Can I pick up merchandise at Best Buy the same day I purchase online
If your local store has it in stock. You will be able to tell that when you go through the online check out process and select the store you want to pick up at. Better chance at a larger store, like the ones that have a huge appliance section. Otherwise, you will have to wait for it to get to the store after you order. And it that case, it would probably better to ship it to your home.

What is the process for making a latte? Is there a separate reservoir for cream or milk and if so, can powdered creamer be used since it won't spoil?
The milk frother (shown in the photo on this site) is a separate device. It is a one serving at a time sort of think. Fill it, pour it, clean it, repeat. So no worry about spoiling or powdered anything. It actually works really well. I was really surprised.

can this accommodate 12 muffins pan?
No. Look at the product page for it on the website. At the bottom it shows the dimensions of the trays it uses. Off the top of my head, I think they are 13" wide. So maybe a half dozen size pan at the most, but definitely not a dozen.

Are the volume and lock buttons easy to push with the case on?
They are super easy to use. I had an otterbox before and those buttons tend to be a little stiff. These are not. They protect the buttons well without compromising ease of use. You will be happy with it.
