Three MK games for $30? You can't go wrong!

This one is a no brainer so long as you like MK games. You get the best of the MK series (yes, I'm including the new PS3 game) for only $30. The controls and camera are funky a little in Shaolin Monks, but aside from that, 5 stars all the way down.

With a new and improved fighting engine and more characters than any previous Mortal Kombat game, this latest volume in one of the greatest video game franchises delivers more intense fighting action than ever before. More than 50 characters, including old favorites such as Liu Kang, Shang Tsung and Shao Khan, and new, fully customizable fighters give you more combat options. As if that weren't enough, the Kreate-a-Fighter mode lets you create your own fighter with the deepest level of customization ever seen in a Mortal Kombat game.Other features unique to this edition include the Kreate-a-Fatality mode, which allows you to create your own fatality using a combination of moves that can be recalled with a series of button combos. The Konquest mode is also unique to this game, letting you embark on a full-blown adventure between fights. As Armageddon approaches, only one fighter will be left standing. Will that fighter be you?

Last great MK game on the PS2, but get the 3 pack

Keeping this quick, since it's an old game. It's great, the last truly great MK game on the PS2, but now you can get this one, Deadly Alliance AND Shaolin Monks for only $10 more, so why not? I would definately get this one over the one on the PS3, but spend the extra money for the triple pack and you can thank me later.

Fun, but not worth $60

I love Mortal Kombat. It's the game that got me into fighting games. I love DC comics. An issue of Detective is the reason I started collecting. So it sucks that this game seems to have been sold on the idea that it would sell regardless because of those two genres. Don't get me wrong, it's fun. I don't care about the fatalities being toned down or completely gone in the case of the heroes, I'm comparing this game to the ones that were put out for the PS2 and though the graphics are easily better, and the plot is enjoyable, there is very little to keep you playing. There's no extras to speak of, no krypt, no adventure mode (the story mode is okay, but nothing compared to the adventure modes of past), no mini games, no create-a-fighter... nothing. If you want a good MK game, you should get MK: Armageddon, unless you absolutely need to play as the Joker (which is hilarious, but still not worth the money). This game is a solid rental though.
What's great about it: DC characters and MK fighters in one game!
What's not so great: Not nearly as much put in as past games.

Great, not perfect

The story starts out great and has a nice twist toward the end, but the gameplay, like most FPSs, gets repetative, even with all the powers you get, there's very little variety after a while and you just wait to find out how things end.
What's great about it: Great story, design
What's not so great: Gets repetative

This game is a launch title that still can go with the best of them now. Uncharted is a great game and though it hasn't gone down in price yet, there's a reason for it. It's just that good, people are still willing to pay full price. It's a unique gaming experience unlike most else of what's out there.
What's great about it: Great cinematics, story, characters
What's not so great: Sometimes you don't know where is a safe place to jump

Finally, a GOOD lego game

This is a great game, and it was the second one that Lego worked their magic for on a different property. That said, now that the complete saga is the same price, you might as well get that since you get more for your money, you just need a next gen system and that's really the only thing against it.
What's great about it: Star Wars Lego-fied is awesome!
What's not so great: It's the same price as the Complete Saga now.

The only way I'd recommend this movie is if you're a huge Xmen fan, regardless of quality. This movie had three different ideas it could've gone with and basically ends up throwing them all away trying to make this mess. Lots of mutants go away, possibly forever. And my one lingering question is... exactly how many leaping mutants are there?
What's great about it: Lots of great ideas...
What's not so great: tossed together for no real reason

Don't get me wrong, I can be just as childish and dirty minded as the next guy, but this movie goes so far below that level it's an insult to juvenile humor. Any joke you and your friends came up with when you were first learning about reproduction is made fun of in here, only your friends probably did it better. Don't waste your money and time with this one.
What's great about it: Some of the spoofs are funny
What's not so great: Most of it is adolesent, gutter humor

Nic Cage as himself with a flaming skull

There's far worse things they could've done with this character, but they still had a ways to go before they got him right. While I didn't care for cheesy moment or the finger pointing or the "yee-ha!", all in all, it's not a bad movie. The story flowed pretty nicely and the special effects were fantastic. If they make a second GR movie, I'm not so sure they need a reboot like with Hulk, but there has been more than one Rider they could choose from to continue the story.

Superman: The movie redux
on October 24, 2008
Posted by: Gorkous

There were many problems with this movie, the biggest one being that it was, beat for beat, a redoing of the first Superman movie. Everyone from every country knows who Superman is. We don't need the introduction.
What this movie did right though, is introduce him to a modern audience and modern times. While the movie, as a whole, is underwhelming, it was set up nicely for a sequel that, it seems, will never come because like the Hulk franchise, DC plans on rebooting this character. Still, it's a nice movie and if you're a fan, you should've pass it up.

not only will you have to buy a converter so the electricity isn't a problem, but you'll have to buy an AC adapter so you can even plug it into the wall.

total new to the modern era gaming

I am from the old time 80s with the single arcade games. I want to get a system for my kids. From what I read, seems like the PS3 with the BlueRay is a no brainer. What am I missing? And what else do I need to get so they can play right away.
Thanks
The system you want depends on your kids ages and interests. The Wii tends to aim to the younger crowd, and the 360 gears more towards the sports fans and online players. For my money though, I love the PS3.
The system comes with only one controller, so you might want to get more depending on how many kids you have. Also, games are important and I would recommend Ratchet and Clank for platformer/action, Orange Box or Bio Shock (depending on age) for a first person shooter, LittleBigPlanet if they're creative, or Lego Star Wars: The complete saga if they're fans of legos, star wars or just a fun simple game.

External Hard drive for PS3??

My boyfriend hinted several months ago that he would like a hard drive for his PS3. But Im not a gamer or electronic freak like him (haha) so I have no idea what Im looking for. Any suggestions?
If I remember right, you can use pretty much any external hard drive with a USB port. Ask a Best Buy employee or game store employee to be sure though.

best multi co-op games for ps3?

My husband and I enjoy gaming together, but haven't found many good games since Project Eden. Are there co-op games for the PS3 to play at home, not online?
A lot, just depends on what you're interested in. Marvel Ultimate Alliance, Guitar Hero/Rock Band, any of the Lego games, Simpsons, Rayman: Raving Rabbids... there's tons. Just depends what you like.

you don't even need one wheel. All you need is a Wii remote and hold it sideways. The wheel is just a plastic attachment to give you a more driving like feel.
