A friend brought over this movie and I really didn't expect much. I hoped it'd be funny, I wasn't dissapointed. It's a pretty good date movie for both guys and girls and I almost (ALMOST) want to see the Dracula musical peformed.
I would recommend this to a friend!

A rental

There was a time I would've waited in line to see a M. Night movie... those days are gone. Up until The Village, I loved his movies, and even that movie I thought was pretty decent, but this one I waited until it was on DVD to see and I almost felt it was a waste of time. With the exceptions of a couple actors, the acting is pretty bad (in the extras Night says he wanted to make "the best B movie" ever made, but it's still pretty bad acting by that standard). The story seems farfetched, even some of the "normal" people seem crazy and some of the victims of the plague seem to put too much thought into how to die to make even that much believable. If you want a good movie by this director/writer, go with any of the first three films he made.
What's great about it: Interesting plot idea
What's not so great: everything else

get the PS2 version
on October 1, 2008

I enjoyed this game. I also enjoyed Lego Star Wars and Indiana Jones, but the formula has to get shaken up a little bit to be worth my $50 at this point. There's nothing really new here aside from the setting and, as great as it is that the PS3 takes advantage of the HD setup, for a game like Batman, a grainier look is more appropriate instead of the crisp, clean look. Oddly enough, that's one reason I'd suggest the PS2 version instead, BECAUSE it's not as crisp and clean. For that reason, the fact that it's $20 cheaper and that as far as gameplay goes, I don't think there's anything different. Do yourself a favor, save the extra money for the next game you want (maybe the next Lego game even) and get the cheaper version.
What's great about it: Batman. villians. Legos. 'nuff said.
What's not so great: Expensive for what it is, "crisp, clean" graphics aren't Batman

Amazing 1st season
on September 27, 2008
Posted by: Gorkous
from mankato, MN
Most shows have a pretty good first season, and the writers take until the second to hit their stride. This series kinda follows that trend, but for the most part it does it right from the get go. The first part of the season has a "hazy" look to it, but by the end of it, the look of the show is what you would see on the show now. The way they go through solving the problem is kinda like a murder mystery before the murderer can strike and then there's the comedic time House has to spend in the clinic with "regular" patients which helps to eleviate the drama.
What's great about it: House is an awesome jerk
What's not so great: the "hazy" look of the first part of the season

I barely can recommend it

The series could go either way on this one. This isn't a movie series that could go campy anytime soon, but it's also one that could end with this movie and no one would mind, including myself. To the best of my knowledge, all loose ends have been tied up and though there is a new Jigsaw, to not know who he goes after in the future isn't a big deal, you just know he's out there and that's enough. Saw V is coming out soon, but I don't think it'll return the series to what it used to be.
What's great about it: It continues the Saw franchise
What's not so great: Not a whole lot of substance left

Here's where it should've stopped
on September 26, 2008

This is where the series should've ended. It's not the best of the first three, but the ending leaves you satisfied and when you see how it ends, you just don't think they could make more in the way that still makes them relevent to the point of what made Jigsaw a unique villian. The acting from the female "hero" of the film feels wooden, but other than that, not bad. If you've seen the past movies, you pretty much know what you're in for with gore, but the movie gives a nice twist at the end that makes me enjoy it more.
What's great about it: Still involves the real Jigsaw
What's not so great: They continued the series

Last of the great seasons
on September 26, 2008

As stated before, this is the last of the truly great seasons, in my opinion. While the rest have good episodes, this is the the last one that I feel you can watch pretty much from start to finish and enjoy them all. It ties up some loose strings from past seasons, has some great comedic moments and even has Micheal J. Fox. :D (I'm an 80's kid, which makes him awesome).
What's great about it: more supporting cast involvement
What's not so great: Season 4 starts the downhill

If you like Clooney, go ahead
on September 25, 2008

I thought the movie would be good based on the commercials, but despite this movie being refered to as a comedy, it's not really that funny. Despite it having a decent plot, there just wasn't anything about the movie to keep you watching. Think of it as a conversation you're hearing a few people have. It may hold your attention for a bit, but when you walk away, it won't bother you not knowing how it ends.
What's great about it: The sets were cool and had some funny moments
What's not so great: Pretty much what you expect from a Clooney movie

360 Gold version is the best
on September 25, 2008
Posted by: Gorkous
from mankato, MN
If you have a 360 or plan on getting one, go for the Gold version of that game. It have the most characters and a slightly different story because of that. But if you only have a PS2, then this is still a great purchase. It plays like Xmen Legends, but has much more options because of the huge cast. If you like dungeon crawler games, comic games or just RPG's, this is a must.
What's great about it: The widest array of Marvel heroes ever in one game
What's not so great: PS2's version has the worst graphics

I'm on the fence with this one

I really should've read a synopsis of this movie before watching it. I thought it would be something more along the lines of Apocalypto or march of the Penguins. A mock documentary of what life was back then. I wasn't expecting it to be a love story taking a stone age man across the nation to fulfill a prophecy and take down some egyptian "god". Not confusing if you watch the movie, but to go from guys who use stone weapons taking on the guys who're making the pyramids, there's some serious problems. There are a lot of things I didn't care for in this movie, and a lot of them are my own fault for thinking it was about something else, but there was still a number of things that bugged me, regardless of what I was expecting. In the end, it comes down to what you like. I didn't like it.
What's great about it: Some very cool scenes
What's not so great: You really need to suspend disbelief

not only will you have to buy a converter so the electricity isn't a problem, but you'll have to buy an AC adapter so you can even plug it into the wall.

total new to the modern era gaming

I am from the old time 80s with the single arcade games. I want to get a system for my kids. From what I read, seems like the PS3 with the BlueRay is a no brainer. What am I missing? And what else do I need to get so they can play right away.
Thanks
The system you want depends on your kids ages and interests. The Wii tends to aim to the younger crowd, and the 360 gears more towards the sports fans and online players. For my money though, I love the PS3.
The system comes with only one controller, so you might want to get more depending on how many kids you have. Also, games are important and I would recommend Ratchet and Clank for platformer/action, Orange Box or Bio Shock (depending on age) for a first person shooter, LittleBigPlanet if they're creative, or Lego Star Wars: The complete saga if they're fans of legos, star wars or just a fun simple game.

External Hard drive for PS3??

My boyfriend hinted several months ago that he would like a hard drive for his PS3. But Im not a gamer or electronic freak like him (haha) so I have no idea what Im looking for. Any suggestions?
If I remember right, you can use pretty much any external hard drive with a USB port. Ask a Best Buy employee or game store employee to be sure though.

best multi co-op games for ps3?

My husband and I enjoy gaming together, but haven't found many good games since Project Eden. Are there co-op games for the PS3 to play at home, not online?
A lot, just depends on what you're interested in. Marvel Ultimate Alliance, Guitar Hero/Rock Band, any of the Lego games, Simpsons, Rayman: Raving Rabbids... there's tons. Just depends what you like.

Do I need two wheels to race with Mario Kart?

you don't even need one wheel. All you need is a Wii remote and hold it sideways. The wheel is just a plastic attachment to give you a more driving like feel.
