The cult-favorite science fiction series Farscape comes to a close with this miniseries. The bloodthirsty Scarran Empire unexpectedly declares war against the Peacekeeper Alliance, and the Peacekeepers are forced to strike back with all they have. The Peacekeepers' last, best hope lies in astronaut John Crichton (Ben Browder), an earthling who joined them when he was drawn into a wormhole in space. Can Crichton find a way to lead the Peacekeepers back through the same wormhole before they're destroyed by the Scarrans? Produced in part due to the volatile reaction from fans after Farscape was canceled with many plot threads left unresolved, Farscape: The Peacekeeper Wars also features original cast members Claudia Black, Anthony Simcoe, Jonathan Hardy, Virginia Hey, Paul Goddard, and Gigi Edgley.

Nice ending

The only reason I didn't give this DVD a 5 out of 5 is because it was pretty obvious that there was more that the makers of the series wanted to do, but settled for cramming as much as they could into this movie. There wasn't much in the extras to speak of either, but aside from that, it was a nice bookend to the series.

If you were one of the many who were confused when you sat down to watch Ang Lee's adaptation of The Hulk, stand in line -- still, there's no doubt that the 2-disc Special Edition DVD will be an instant best-seller considering the high profile of the character and the amount of extras on this disc. Visually, the 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen picture is a joy to behold (a full-screen version is also available), brilliantly displaying the giant behemoth's green skin tones and the equally as rich color palette from cinematographer Frederick Elmes, while audio specs include three different 5.1 tracks for English, French, and Spanish languages. Audio commentary is supplied from director Lee, though don't expect him to lay out any of the meanings he inherently added into the film (no "jellyfish" explanations, sorry). Still, he's not at all boring to listen to, nor does he come off as anything but humble and very well natured. Also on disc one is the special feature "Hulk Cam," an optional behind-the-scenes branching technique with which you can delve further into a scene by pressing enter on your remote control when a special radiation graphic pops up on your screen. Another neat little extra awaits you with the "Superhero Revealed: Anatomy of the Hulk" interactive feature with which you can learn Film Facts and ILM Facts by selecting different sections of a rotating computer model of the character. Unfortunately, the idea is a little better than the navigability of its execution, but it still might be a fun way for kids to understand the inner-workings of the visual effects process. The Deleted Scenes section isn't quite all it's cracked up to be, with some scenes focusing more on the scientific aspects of the story line, while others offer a bit more of a glimpse into the young Bruce Banner character (plus one more tidbit of a scene with Lou Ferrigno, which is always good). Rounding out the DVD are, sadly, some shameful extras -- with commercials for a Chase Universal Credit Card and a Sunny Delight juice drink there for you to skip over. Also available is a quite lengthy Cast and Filmmakers section, which covers all the principal lead actors, along with various producers and writers who took a crack at adapting the green-skinned monster. Disc two is where the real bonus stuff starts to heat up, starting with the Hulkification section -- a genius idea for which they let four comic book artists from around the world adapt the same scene straight from the movie. While it's a novel idea, and the differences in each artist's vision are extraordinary, the way that the camera swoops around the panels is utterly annoying and more than a little disorienting -- chalk this feature up as a nice idea ruined by a hyper-kinetic features designer. Next up is the "Evolution of the Hulk," similar to many of the comic book origin documentaries on the few other recent Marvel film DVDs. With interviews from the great Stan Lee and covers from the long history of the character, it's a nice introduction to the Hulk for anyone not familiar with the backstory and a simple joy, if simply to just hear Stan "The Man" talk. An interesting feature for anyone who's seen the film will obviously be "The Incredible Ang Lee" featurette, which focuses on the director on-set and then in the motion capture suit where his movements were tracked and eventually synched in the computer to produce the Hulk's final dramatic performance that the audience sees on the screen (bet you didn't know that!). Also on the disc is a featurette completely on the Dog Fight scene, where production is tracked from the first moments when the director pitched his quite large idea to ILM to the various ways they were able to simulate a dog's real movements, along with the hurdles that the effects crew needed to jump when two CG characters had to fight in the same frame (as you'll see, it was quite hard to do). Probably the most interesting extra on the disc comes with the unique "Style of Editing Hulk," where editor Tim Squyres takes you through the truly innovative approach he and Ang Lee went for with the look of the film. Rounding out the disc is a blanket "Making of the Hulk" feature, along with a DVD-ROM section, with which you can play an entire level of the {*Hulk} game. All in all, a fine representation for a troubled adaptation -- still, with a true reverence for the history of the character, as seen in the animated menus, you can't say they didn't try.

There's a reason they didn't call it "incredible"

Before the new Hulk movie I might've recommended this movie for a Hulk fix, but watching it again, it was just too surreal and lackluster. The biggest fight against the army is redone in the new movie and is done better. The acting seems forced at times and the dialogue seems clunky at times too. It's a nice transition from the TV to the new flick, but aside from the extras, this movie isn't want it could've been.

"Incredible" is a good word for this movie. It reboots the Hulk franchise and is part two for setting up the Avengers movie and making the Marvel movies one cohesive universe. This movie is completely action packed as is how the first Hulk movie should've been. The humor is smart and there are obvious nods to the old TV show. Again, this movie never crossed the line into being cheesy, which until late has been a drawback of many comic book flicks.

Scary

This is one of those movies that you don't want to watch, but because it's scary. It's based on a true story and from the opening scene, you know how it's going to end and it's not going to be a pretty. I would recommend this movie for those who are in for more of a mental scare than the jump out at you kind.

Funny movie, but why so much childish jokes?

If it wasn't for Jessica Alba, I probably wouldn't have given this movie a second look. Luckily I did, because it's pretty funny. It crosses the line into poor taste quite often, but when the man-child of a friend isn't on screen, it's a pretty good movie. I wouldn't buy it, but definately one I'd rent more than once.
What's great about it: Jessica Alba as a clumsy cutie
What's not so great: All the crude humor

Worst of the Indy movies, but it's still Indy!!!
on October 18, 2008

There are numerous problems with this movie. In my opinion, certain characters shouldn't get old. Rocky, Rambo, Martin Riggs... Indy is another one. Although, like Rocky, it was handled well enough that it didn't matter so much. The two biggest problems with this movie both stem from the skulls.
Because of the skulls, this movie goes into sci-fi territory which is quite a difference from the more mystical/fantasy elements that Indy's known for. If you haven't seen the movie, I won't ruin it for you, but you'll know what I mean when you see it.
The other is that the best of the Indy movies dealt with religious artifacts which are already very well known, regardless of what religion you are. This movie is focused on an item that, until the movie, I had never heard about.
There are other minor issues that you'll notice, but in the end, it's still Indiana Jones. It's still fun, just not as fun as the past flicks.

I never thought I'd like Iron Man...

Never cared for Iron Man or Robert Downey Jr. but this movie has changed my mind about them both. Downey creates the perfect blend needed for the Stark character and the way the story plays out is great too. I kept waiting for the "cheese" moment, but it never came. Came close once, but gratefully it just walked that line and never crossed. The only complaint would be that I think Terrance Howard was miscast for the tough as nails James Rhodes. His voice, the babyface, deminor... none of it said he was raised in the streets and was a military man.
What's great about it: Funny, cool tech, good story, great extras
What's not so great: It's another 3 years till the sequel

I've written this review before, but I'll have to do it again, but shorter.
Don't buy this game unless you want to spend hours just collecting tokens, which is pretty much what this game comes down to. There's very little variety and it's probably a bit too challenging for the only age group that would be entertained by the constant coin collecting that sums up this game. Spend your money on something else. You'll be doing your kid a favor.
What's great about it: It's got Wall E...
What's not so great: ...to take your hard earned money

Good date movie

Ryan Renolds has always been at his best as the funny man in movies, that's probably part of the reason I didn't care for the Amittyville remake, but this movie plays to his strengths and lets him branch out a little too. While I have a bit of a hard time believing him as a father, though he's old enough, he still has that early college age look to him. The ending seemed a little hard to believe too, but it's still set up nicely and it has a great story to it. It also has a few nice reminders of what life was like in the late 80's/early 90's.

The best part of this movie is the over the top and crazy action scenes, but when they try to make it into a love story, it kinda falls flat. The end has a great message and there's plenty of laughs to be had along the way, but trying to squeeze in the love interest seemed more forced into the story than part of the story itself.

not only will you have to buy a converter so the electricity isn't a problem, but you'll have to buy an AC adapter so you can even plug it into the wall.

total new to the modern era gaming

I am from the old time 80s with the single arcade games. I want to get a system for my kids. From what I read, seems like the PS3 with the BlueRay is a no brainer. What am I missing? And what else do I need to get so they can play right away.
Thanks
The system you want depends on your kids ages and interests. The Wii tends to aim to the younger crowd, and the 360 gears more towards the sports fans and online players. For my money though, I love the PS3.
The system comes with only one controller, so you might want to get more depending on how many kids you have. Also, games are important and I would recommend Ratchet and Clank for platformer/action, Orange Box or Bio Shock (depending on age) for a first person shooter, LittleBigPlanet if they're creative, or Lego Star Wars: The complete saga if they're fans of legos, star wars or just a fun simple game.

External Hard drive for PS3??

My boyfriend hinted several months ago that he would like a hard drive for his PS3. But Im not a gamer or electronic freak like him (haha) so I have no idea what Im looking for. Any suggestions?
If I remember right, you can use pretty much any external hard drive with a USB port. Ask a Best Buy employee or game store employee to be sure though.

best multi co-op games for ps3?

My husband and I enjoy gaming together, but haven't found many good games since Project Eden. Are there co-op games for the PS3 to play at home, not online?
A lot, just depends on what you're interested in. Marvel Ultimate Alliance, Guitar Hero/Rock Band, any of the Lego games, Simpsons, Rayman: Raving Rabbids... there's tons. Just depends what you like.

Do I need two wheels to race with Mario Kart?

you don't even need one wheel. All you need is a Wii remote and hold it sideways. The wheel is just a plastic attachment to give you a more driving like feel.
