Great headphones, don’t let the plastic fool you.
These headphones are great. Out of the box, I thought maybe they were a downgrade from the past headphone model at this price point Sony no longer makes, as these headphones went to an almost entirely plastic design, and do not weigh as much. After using them now for a few days, I can say I have put all those worries aside, I can have these on my head for much longer that I could some other heavier headphones.
These are not headphones that are totally for bass fiends. But if you want bass driven music on them, and have an audio source, like a LG V20 or LG V30 phone, that have built in DAC, the best in any smartphone out there, you are in for a treat after turning up some equalization settings. You really fantastic amount of sound from highs to lows with these. I also tried them on an iPad for watching some movies and shows, and was still impressed considering it is not a high end audio source.
The headphones come with two cables, one has a microphone and play/pause button. I love that this cable it just about the right length, because I always seem to yank ones that are longer. The cables look to be of very conductive metal too, especially on the side of the left ear piece, where the cable goes.
I do wish the ear cups were a little bigger, and slightly deeper. I could see them potentially rubbing some people’s ears, though I didn’t have this problem myself.
The packaging on these headphones is pretty cool too, but I was disappointed that headphones at this price did not come with a hard travel case. They only come with cloth bag you can put them in. I would not feel very comfortable putting that bag with the headphones in them in my backpack.
Other than that, these headphones are great. An absolute pleasure to listen to music in!! My Bloody Valentine - Loveless never sounded better! Also fantastic for hip-hop, after some equalization settings.

Fantastic 4K 7.2 channel receiver!! Dobly Atmos / DTS-X, and all older surround decoding also supported, Dolby TrueHD, Dolby Digital, DTX-MA and more.
Just got this receiver, it is replacing a 6 year old Pioneer, which at the time I thought sounded pretty good. This thing, on the same Onkyo 5.1 speaker set I have had for over 12 years, is fantastic!! This is the first Dobly Atmos receiver I have ever had, and you can define your two Atmos celiing speakers as ones that go on top of your front left and right speakers. So I added in my own smaller speakers, and defined them as such in the on-screen setup menus (you of course, can define them as regular atmos ceiling height speakers too).
This reciever has 4 HDMI inputs, and all support 4K HDCP. I have a PlayStation 4, Xbox One X, Wii U, and an NVIDIA Shield hooked up to this receiver. Each input name on the front LCD screen can be changed too (but cannot happen on the TV interface display, just on the LCD screen on receiver itself).
Now here was my biggest surprise, on the NVIDIA Shield, using KODI, it will pass thru (aka Bitstream) Dolby Atmos AND DTS-X surround tracks! I was really not sure how it would work, but it did, and my reciever lit up “ATMOS” and you can hear the atmos speakers go off. For those wanting to try it thru KODI on an NVIDIA shield you can go to dolby.com’s site, and download .mp4 files, and access it thru KODI, and you will see it passes thru the audio correctly. You can do the same looking up DTS-X test trailers if you google it, you will find short trailers showcasing DTS-X files you can play as well.
Switching between the 4 HDMI inputs all works well, as does 4K UHD support from the Xbox One 4K and including HDR10 / Dolby vision pass thru support to the TV.
The setup menus are a bit of a mess, though going thru them wasn’t that bad on the TV screen. I ran the auto calibration microphone thing that is included, and found that it actually detected about the correct distances between the microphone (set it where you ear level would be), I had to adjust a couple of the speakers a little bit, I found my center channel was a bit lower in volume than the other, and once I did that, it really sounded great.
All my devices worked fine, PlayStation 4 Pro, Xbox One X, Wii U, and the aforementioned Nvidia Shield! I hooked up my smart phone via Bluetooth, and that worked great too.
The remote itself is not that great, but I have a logitech harmony 600. Unfortunately, as this receiver only just has come out, the Harmony software did not recognize this model yet. I am very confident it will get updated soon.
The only thing I would say is to make absolutely sure you have HDMI 4K HDCP 2.2 cables between the 4K TV and each 4K device you have. Otherwise you will not get proper pass thru on HDR10/Dolby Vision content.
I wish Sony had a better manual in the box, but there is a more detailed manual online on the Sony website, which gives much more detailed info, such as changing the name of the inputs on the LCD screen which I love that I am able to do.
Be advised, this receiver does not have any component inputs at all, so if you have an older Xbox 360, or a Nintendo Wii, you will not be able to use this as a video switcher.
Overall, very happy with this receiver!!

Overall, very good headphones

Overall, very good headphones. But I wish the build quality were better.
First pair of active noise cancelling headphones I have had a chance to use, and low and behold, I try it near my home computer that has a very loud fan, and it really worked great, it knocked down the hum of the fan noise significantly.
To get the most of these headphones, you need to install the “Sony Headphones Connect” app. I am on android and already have some Sony bluetooth portable speakers, and had the android app for those speakers, called “Music Center”, and while you can tell and connect the headphones via bluetooth that app, the Headphones connect app allows you to turn ANC (active noise cancelling) on or off, and has equalizer settings. Any app you have that is playing music will also show up in this app. While I appreciate the EQ presets in the app, I prefer not using them at all, and using the EQ settings in my music player, “PowerAmp”.
I set these up to my phone via bluetooth, but it is way easier to just NFC. Now, I just touch the left earcup with the “N” logo on it to my phone, and it automatically turns on the headphones.
I was never that crazy about bluetooth audio for headphones, but was surprised at the quality over bluetooth for music. Whenever possible however, I still prefer to plug in the 3.5mm wired cable to my phone. Still not totally crazy about wireless signals beaming thru my head all day.
Battery life seems to be really good on these so far too, even when using them wirelessly.
Some cons of these headphones:
While I do like the sound quality of these headphones, it has really good bass, much like other sony speakers, maybe too much bass (I like it though), I was quite a bit disappointed with the build quality of the headphones for something at this price point. They just don’t feel like they will last. They are comfortable, but don’t feel as nice on my ears as other over ear headphones that are not at this price point. I have to find some kind of headphone case for these for travelling, I had a headphone case from an old pair of V-Moda LP Crossfades, and while it fits, it puts a bit of pressure on the earcups of these headphones. For now, I am just using the actual box the headphones came in as my travel case when going to work.

CRAZY BASS for music!

Great speaker from the new portable bluetooth line from Sony.
This is A LOT of bass on this guy. I already had the SRS-XBS31 lower priced sibling, and liked that one, and was really impressed with how much bass it put out. Maybe even too much bass. Well, this larger and heavier XBX41, has even more bass.
This XBX41 comes with it’s own charger, unlike the 31, and must have a much larger battery. Like the others in the series, you can also have the speaker charge your phone if you are running low while away from a power source (like a beach).
I discovered with this speaker, and some time with the Sony Music Center app (on android for me), that you can tell the charge level via the app. I still however there was something directly on the speaker that would tell you the battery percentage. At this higher price point of this speaker, I wish there was a way to tell you either a percentage, or even more colors on the charging light. You basically only get a charge light, and it goes off when it has reached 100 percent.
The sony app really has to be used for this thing, as by default, it might be way too much bass for some. I personally like it, however I really need to take the extra bass mode off, and go into the custom EQ in the app and pull the lows really down when I listen to audio books or podcasts. For music though, I cannot believe how great this thing sounds. It gets a lot louder than the little sister XBS31, and has a lot more bass.
Party chaining works as advertised, well at least with my one other speaker. I am not sure how much I will need to use this, personally, but it does work.
I am not personally a big fan of the flashing lights, but they can be turned off via the Sony Music Center App. I also am not a fan of the “LIVE” mode. It basically just puts some kind of EQ on all sound coming out to make it sound like it is in an echo chamber.
NFC works well too. I set it up after establishing my initial connection to my android phone. I don’t typically leave NFC turned on all the time till I got this speaker. It just just so easy to walk over touch my phone to the speaker top, and it connects and turns on the speaker, establishes connection and you are ready to go.
You can also plug in your phone via a 3.5mm audio jack if your phone still has one, and save on battery power on both your phone, and the speaker itself.
I do really like this speaker, but don’t kid yourself, this is not exactly super portable, it is quite a bit heavier than the XB31, and physically larger. It has some features I probably would not use often, but the bass is killer!! Love the bass on this thing, but thank goodness I can drop it down when needed.

Like it, but wish I could replace the battery

I have been using the entry level version of the Sonicare Essence for the past 10 years or so. My teeth had never felt cleaner. I did have to get a new one after about the first 5 years, because unfortunately the battery is not user replaceable.
After another 5 years or so on my replacement Sonicare Essence, this battery too needs to be charged all the time.
So in comes the setup up for me with the new Protective Clean 5100. It is a lot more expensive than the entry level Sonicare brushes, but has other features which were new to me from my older entry level model.
First of all, this Protective Clean 5100 has 3 brushing modes: Clean, White, Gum Care. I personally do not like the gum care mode, I find it does not clean my teeth as well as either clean or white modes, however I can see how someone with sensitive gums would absolutely benefit from this. The Clean and White modes seem to clean my teeth about the same as my older Essence brush.
Philips sells three different kinds of brush heads for use with this brush, one which works best for each of the three clean modes. It included the “G2 Optimal Gum Care” head in the box, which is all I have to compare to my older Essence brush. I would suspect the optimal gum care brush head is softer than the others available.
This model also has a quadpacer feature, where it beeps/vibrates every 30 seconds, so that you move onto the next section on top front, to inside, bottom front, and you guessed it, bottom inside of your teeth. I really like this feature.
This 5100 model also has an electronic reminder they call “BrushSync Technology”. The manual states that it tracks the wear of the brush head, based on the pressure you apply. I have not gotten there yet to know how accurate this is. The brush head has a small electrical contact where it connects to the brush handle.
The 5100 also has a pressure sensor to let you know if you are brushing too hard. I haven’t encountered that I did this in my use.
All of these extra features can also be turned off. Quadpacer, EasyStart, brush head replacement reminder, and the pressure sensor. I will probably turn off EasyStart, as I have been using this kind of toothbrush for a while, and EasyStart basically just increases the vibration power over the first 14 uses. If you have never used this kind of brush before I would imagine you would just leave it on.
I do wish that it had a replaceable by the owner battery. While my essence handle did not have one, and both started losing the ability to hold a charge after about 3 years or so, had the handle had an option to buy a battery from Philips, I would not have necessarily had to buy a new brush all together. The 5100 manual does have a description of how to remove the rechargeable batteries, however they do not mention what kind of battery it is. They also say any attempt to remove the battery will void the warranty.
Overall, I do really like the toothbrush, but continue to be disappointed on not being able to change the battery down the road.

Very good projector for the money

Very good projector for the money. I have a similar projector in my office that never quite bright enough. This one seems to have a lot more brightness and contrast to run while not in total darkness.
You probably wouldn’t want this projector for everyday home theatre use, it is meant more for business purposes, but I did think it was pretty good for watching movies thru considering it’s relative low price. Keep in mind this projector has a built in speaker, but you could always route sound from your laptop separately to something like a set of computer speakers or even better to an AMP for a better home theatre experience.
The projector comes with a VGA cable, and has an HDMI port on it. I wish it came with an HDMI cable, as HDMI carries both video and sound from a laptop to the projector. It comes with a USB cable to connect your laptop as well.
Overall, great projector for the money, so long as your use is primarily for business presentations and something small and portable is needed. Recommended.

Fantastic DIY installed home security system.
Very cool do it yourself home security system, with plenty of included sensors, and even a FOB.
You can use the app to arm and disarm your alarm system. The app will allow you to make a custom pin remotely for a short period of time, maybe for a visitor you do not want to have the permanent PIN to. If you happen to have a camera (not included here), you can access it live, or access the recording from an alarm trigger.
The keypad is completely wireless, battery lasts up to 2 years. Keys are all backlit. The keypad screen basically stays “off” until you touch it.
The base station does both wi-fi and cellular connection for your monitoring service. Setup of this thing is cool, it has voice prompts for setting up the system, and also using the system too. The colors on the base of the light will change colors to show you when the system is armed. The base station looks pretty cool too, very subtle and fairly small.
Door sensors are very small, much smaller than my previous very old traditional alarm system. I had no problems with the range of the sensors in my 1,600 sq foot 2 level home. Comes with sticky pads for sticking onto doors or sliding windows.
The included motion sensors are also pretty small stick the same as the door sensors and have about the same range in my home. I have my base station in what I guess would be the center of my home on my main floor. No problems with a dog triggering motion detector when the alarm is armed either. Not sure how that worked out, but it did.
The siren alarm is pretty loud, though simplisafe also sells an extra alarm siren you can add into this base kit.
After setup you can setup your remote monitoring online. You are not locked into a contract. You are a month to month customer. You can even specify which kind of alarm triggers will send out an emergency response, vs an alert to just you via the app.
Have a NEST thermostat? Great, because this will integrate into this alarm system so you can check that too.
Now, SimpliSafe also sells other add-on devices you can buy separately ala carte, video camera, extra alarm sirens,smoke detectors, panic button, and more sensors if you need them, but for me, I will first be getting the water sensor, which are really inexpensive per sensor, and a freeze sensor. I had a pipe freeze and burst in the past, and this would have been great to have so that I could have shut the water line down faster before it did more damage!
All in all this is a major upgrade from a previous over 15 year old alarm system which only worked via my hard wired phone line. The monitoring service is cheaper too!

Great, small, portable Bluetooth, and wired speaker. I was shocked at not only how loud this small speaker sounds, but how much bass it puts out. I wish it had shipped with it’s own charger, it does not come with one, it only comes with the speaker itself, and a micro-USB to full size USB cable (and a short one at that). You are expected to use your own phone’s charger. I have an old Samsung Galaxy Note 4 adpative fast charger (it puts out 2amps) it was a QuickCharge 2.0 charger. It took about 3 hours to charge the speaker up. There is a small amber light that goes on to tell you the speakers battery is charging, but no way to tell how much it is charged. I would have appreciated even a three bar status to tell you roughly how much of a charge you have.
Ok, after I charged it up to full, the amber light goes off, I paired it to my phone via bluetooth. I have an android moto x pure, and setup was really easy. Turn on the speaker, then hold the power button down on it for a few seconds, go to your phone (or any other bluetooth device capable of outputting sound), and select the speaker from the list and it will connect and pair. Any audio you would normally hear from your phone will now come out of the speaker. YouTube, music apps, just about anything. You can control the volume from your phone itself as you normally would, or on the speaker itself. I listen tried playing music and wow, was really shocked how loud a small speaker like this could get, and how much bass it put out. Maybe even too much bass for some, but I like it alot personally.
I listen to alot of audio books, and this worked great with that too. You can also make and receive phone calls with the speaker acting as a speaker to hear the other person, and also has a microphone on the speaker to pick up your voice too. I didn’t realize this speaker had this functionality.
Another feature it has, NFC. If you have a NFC enabled phone, after setup, you literally tap your phone to the speaker “N” logo on top, and it will, A) - Turn on your speaker, and B)- Automatically turn on and select the speaker in your bluetooth devices. I always turn on and off the speaker when I am done, but this was a pretty cool feature.
I had my wife also pair her phone, another android device, OnePlus 3T, and she had no issues with it at all. The speaker will take multiple bluetooth setups from various devices. However, this is where I found an issue for me. Once more than one device has received a Bluetooth pairing, and more than one bluetooth device is actively on, one person can basically, “take charge” of the speaker. So if I am playing music thru the speaker, and my wife’s phone then plays any kind of audio, it takes over the speaker. Ok, that was fine enough, but I noticed that once I would be playing audio on my device, music, audiobook, anything, if she was on twitter on her phone, and it happened to be scrolling thru, and an advertisement would should up in her twitter feed, the audio would get paused from my phone. It took me a while to figure out what was happening. I would be listening randomly to music, and it would just randomly pause. I wasn’t sure if it was loosing it’s bluetooth connection, as the phone was very close to the speaker, by the way, the distance from my phone to the speaker can go is at least 40 feet that I have noticed so far during my use. This kept happening I noticed whenever my wife was using her phone. Weird. Had her turn off bluetooth on her phone all together and the pausing of audio on mine just stopped, and all was good. She turned bluetooth back on her phone, this time left it on but not using it, no problem, my audio was not paused anymore randomly. She then went back to her phone, got on twitter, and she realized when she would scroll past a video advertisement, even though it was silent on her phone (the audio doesn’t play automatically), once the video started to load, it would pause whatever audio I had going to the speaker. It would not switch over to the audio from the silenced ad on her phone’s twitter feed, it just paused mine, and never unpaused my audio either. This was not really a big deal for me once I knew what was happening, but Sony is marketing this phone as a phone where multiple people would send their playlists or direct music thru, pool side, at the beach, etc.. So I figured I would just put this out there, incase people discovered this issue too.
I primarily am going to use the phone for use in my home. Listening to audiobooks and music mostly while I am in my kitchen, but also take the speaker with me when I go into the bathroom to take a shower, etc.. I have yet to try taking it to a beach but the phone is waterproof, made of a washable fabric, and also dustproof, so long as you keep the charging panel closed. The speaker also has flashing lights on it while using it, and can even go with the beat of the audio, but for my more subtle use, luckily Sony has made a button to turn the lights off in the charging area of the speaker. The battery lasts approx 24 hours, and so far I am on my first full charge, using the phone probably 6 hours so far with no issues. I do wish it had a battery level indicator as previously mentioned. There is also the ability to charge your own phone via a separate USB port on the speaker, which is a great feature, especially if you are out on the beach away from an outlet. However, it does not output alot of power from that USB port, and would not charge my phone at full speed.
You can also plug in your phone via a 3.5mm audio jack if your phone still has one, and save on battery power on both your phone, and the speaker itself.
Overall, for my use, I do really like this speaker. It has some features I probably would not use often, but the bass is killer!! Love the bass on this thing. Very recommended with a few caveats.

Setting this range extender up was suprisingly very easy, thanks to the WPS tech on it. I now am able to have a much more reliable signal on the third floor of my home, which would

It also gives you a status bar on it so you can see how far you can go from your source wi-fi router before the signal degrades the repeated signal. Once I got it located in a decent area I was able to not only keep the connection going, but also it was a much faster connection to my iPad and other devices.
The other great thing is that the extender also has ethernet jacks to plug in other things to it should that need ever arise. Like if you want to plug in a laptop maybe.
The only thing, and I think this is common to alot of range extenders, is that it will not just be you connecting to your original router device, it shows up in the list of wi-fi devices as (routername_EXT). Not a problem, as you just use your same password as your original router, but for those less tech savy setting it up just a bit of a gotcha.
Great extender. Very recommended in my 2,500 sq ft, 3 level home (router source being in basement).

Setup is pretty easy, just stick to your rear view mirror back. It has a sticky thing with a magnetic charge. I like that you don’t have to put it on your windshield, and can have it hang off your rear view mirror. It doesn’t look like it, but it will actually not fall. I was really surprised that it did not fall off. This thing is really tiny, just a cylinder with a screen on it telling your next driving direction turns, etc, basically a HUD (heads up display).
Have a few amazon alexa devices at home, and this is the first device in car that I have tried. The Alexa commands and functionality work very well. Controls everything they way my other Alexa devices to in my home. Want to know what is nearby by? Ask Alexa, it will speak right out to you. Want to turn your Alexa controlled lights back home on or off? Just ask Alexa to do it for you, hands free, in your car. Basically anything that you can ask Alexa at home, it will tell you. Weather, stocks, news, etc. Want to play music by a certain artist? “Alexa, play music by Justin Timberlake” and it will shuffle the music by the artist.
Using the GPS on this thing via voice works pretty well, unless I have to speak really obscure names, it seems to be a bit hit or miss on finding them. I can always go into the actual app to enter them in by hand. It uses it’s own Garmin GPS app on your phone, and passes it thru to the Garmin Speak. Want to get directions, say “Alexa navigate me to the nearest Best Buy”, and it will launch the directions on Garmin directions to your location. You can also ask Alexa about traffic conditions and it will offer up fastest routes. Via Garmin Speak app, you can set your home location, work location, school, setup avoidance of toll roads, very much like the Waze app works, only this one can be controlled by Alexa the Garmin Speak.
The camera was one of the biggest reasons to get this. Daylight recordings are fine, but if it is dark out, it is difficult to make out fine details in the recordings. The recordings have date and time stamps,your speed, and even GPS location on the bottom on a small bar. The camera will also warn you of lane departure, and I find this to be the best feature of having the camera . It even tells you if you are too close to the car in front of you. I don’t have any of those features in my car, so it was great to have them on-board now.
Overall, the Garmin Speak Plus with Amazon Alex and Dash Camera, is worth getting if you would like Alexa voice control in your car, and the camera features are most worth it for lane departure warnings. I think some of the small bugs will be fixed via app updates. Recommended.

Are the watch bands interchangeable on the Samsung active?
yes, they are standard 20mm watch bands, that are easily swappable.

Yes.. you can. You can start calls from it, and speak into the microphone. Also you will get texts and emails to it.

Can you store music on the watch
yes.. you can. Though it will not hold much. It does also come with Spotify app, though you will need either your phone or a wifi connection to use that.
