2 Removable Batteries, Innovative
on March 8, 2020
Posted by: TravisJ
from La Grange, KY
I’ve been using this vacuum almost daily since I’ve gotten it. The ease of use, ability to quickly swap out batteries, and pump action dumping of the vacuumed contents makes this the easiest, most powerful stick vacuum I’ve used.
Pros
- Two removable batteries included with the vacuum as well as two charging cables. Many units include an internal rechargeable battery which have to be sent in to the manufacturer to be replaced. The two included removable batteries offer a lot of power, and between the two, will help you use this for larger homes. The battery meter displayed on the back of the vacuum where you can easily read it.
- Ease of use is definitely a plus. All the attachments easily clip on and off, including the powered floor brush. Emptying the canister is actually kind of fun as it launches the dirt into the trash bin.
- Actual vacuuming is satisfying with the Dyson. It picked up way more dirt than my previous vacuum did as well as pet hair and dander. Because it is so easy to use, I find myself using it more often. The power output automatically shifts when going from hardwood to carpet. The battery meter will also change with the power level, going down when boosting on carpet or up when on hardwood floors, and is displayed as time remaining to vacuum.
- Dyson included all the accessories that other manufacturers make you buy separate. This comes with a wall mount kit, extra battery and charger (as mentioned above), powered pet brush, brush and wand as well as the floor brush. The pet brush does a great job on couches, cushions, and more. As a person with 4 cats, this is a must with any vacuum.
- Maneuverability is up there with the rest. Getting around and under things isn’t an issue as the brush is low profile, wide, but not bulky helping get to all the floor space without having to move too much.
- There is some sort of futuristic sound after you let go of the trigger to power it off. Just has a nice audible aesthetic to it.
Cons
- Gets a bit heavy if your using the wand to clean furniture or fans. I wouldn’t recommend using it one handed to try and tackle things where you’ll be supporting the full weight of the vacuum. Although, two handed, no issues.
- Having to hold the trigger the whole time your using it may be fatiguing for some. I know my wife prefers an on/off switch in leu of a trigger.
Summary
- I really enjoy using this vacuum. You can tell they thought of everything: the feel, the sound, the ease of use, the durability, the innovation. Dyson appears to be making their own path in the vacuum world. The cord is gone, the hassle of emptying the bin is gone, changing accessories is made effortless, charging is as simple as hanging it back up on the wall. Dyson is trying to take the hassle out of vacuuming and they’re very close to that goal.

RGB Fully Customizable Gaming Mouse
on January 23, 2020
Posted by: TravisJ
from La Grange, KY
Pros:
- Ergonomically I really enjoy the optional extended finger rest that goes on the right side of the mouse. With most mice, your ring finger kind of hugs the side of the mouse, with the optional extension, you can relax your hand. For me, this lets me have more of a reflex reaction when gaming compared to having direct the mouse.
- RGB. ICUE software syncs all the ICUE devices. I have my water cooler, case fans, ram, and now gaming mouse all synced on the same profiles. Options are endless and you can spend many hours or just a few minutes customizing your rig with amazing results.
- You can customize almost every button. Whether you want a macro, text, remap a key or button, or disable it if it’s not necessary to the game you’re playing. The software is intuitive and makes setting
- Wireless options. This mouse gives you the option between using the wireless usb dongle (which has a storage location in the mouse) and Bluetooth. This really allows you to use this mouse between multiple devices without having to plug and unplug a dongle, especially if you have a main rig but also do gaming on a mobile device like a gaming laptop.
- USB C charge port.
Cons:
- Scroll wheel needs a little bit more grip for me. I find myself pressing it in as a button when I only intend to scroll the wheel. This is the only real problem for me.
- The mouse is a bit on the heavy side and with the extension, and a bit larger than your average mouse. I like the heft because it gives me more precision, but others may find it a bit too heavy.
Final Thoughts
Corsair really put a lot of thought into customization from the RGB, to customizable buttons, to even how you connect the device. Definitely for anyone who likes options.

Easy to Use, High Quality Videos
on January 1, 2020
Posted by: TravisJ
from La Grange, KY
I’ve been using my smart phone for a while to take photos and pictures. Even doing some light video editing with the media. It has been a while since I’ve used a dedicated photo/video device and now I see why so many do, even in the amateur space. If your getting somewhat serious about your hobby, I recommend this camera as your pocket point and shoot or vlog camera.
First thing you’ll notice out of the box is the build quality and ergonomic design. This camera is easy to hold if your doing point and shoot photos. The grip is fantastic for taking pictures or recording video. Frequently used buttons are well within reach. The touch screen display looks fantastic. Over time, I’ve found myself using the touch controls more than the navigation wheel. Not to say the navigation wheel isn’t good with its grippy feel and intuitive info graphics. One of the great things about the screen is its ability to fold out for selfies or vlogging. You can use the touch screen to get your picture right before pressing the record button, all while having the camera pointed at the subject matter whether you’re on the front or back of the lens.
There are tons of features, many of which I’m still learning about. The advanced user guide you can download from cannons website is extremely useful. The menus are easy to navigate through and setting up the Wi-Fi is easy enough if you can follow the on-screen directions on the camera and your smart phone or computer, whichever you’re connecting it to. The one feature most will find useful is being able to navigate the photos/videos on your smart phone and pick and choose which ones to download. This is especially nice if you want to quickly upload on the go as your phone connects directly to the camera, so it doesn’t require a Wi-Fi network. I did connect this to my iPad as well so I could do some light editing before sharing, so there’s that option available. It works the same as connecting to a mobile device.
4k Video footage looks beautiful. I filmed a short 4k video of a family member blowing out birthday candles. I was pleased with the video quality, even though my lighting was poor, everything turned out very smooth. I was holding the camera by hand, and while the image stabilization helps, it doesn’t work miracles. I would recommend a handheld tripod or gimbal if you’ve not developed a steady hand for opportunist point and shoot moments.
I’m happy without the output options for picture and video formats. Being able to snap photos in the raw format and jpeg formats and exporting both opens the door for editing options should you choose to touch up the higher quality output photo. I downloaded Cannon’s Digital Photo Professional 4 for my pc and it allows for editing and converting of the .CR3 files. As for video, recording in 1080 is fine for most situations, but there are moments and footage I want to capture in 4k, especially b-roll footage if I’m working on a project. You can quickly switch modes using the touch screen without thumbing through the menus to make the change.
All in all, I’m very happy with the Mark III. I know some reviews complain about the auto-focus. There is a firmware update that will hopefully address this for most as it did for me. Hopefully there is some expandability for uploading to other services in a future update as well.

Perfect Vacuum if you Have Cats
on December 3, 2019
Posted by: TravisJ
from La Grange, KY
Assembly out of the box is straight forward and took just a few minutes to get it put together and powered on. The Vacuum comes with a brush/wand attachment and a motorized pet brush for sofas and chairs. It also has a floor brush that works good on carpet but really shines on hardwood floors.
The LED lights on the floor brush highlight how dirty your floors are but also how well the vacuum actually removes said dirt and dander from the floor. The motor, wand, and brush are easy enough to hold and use one handed. The power and mode buttons are readily within thumb reach and ramp up the power depending on the job at hand. Everything easily snaps together and just as easily apart for fast swapping of attachments for different cleaning surfaces.
The dust cup and filter pull apart so the cup can be emptied. The cup holds a lot for its size but it’s still a bit small, which is ok, because it keeps the size petite enough you don’t feel the fatigue of using it. Once emptied, the filter slides back into the dust cup. Snap the dust collection assembly back onto the vacuum and it’s back into action.
I have 4 cats, all indoor, two of which are long hair. We vacuum and vacuum often to help keep the dander down, especially since I’m every so slightly allergic to cats. That’s what makes this vacuum so great. I can grab it off the included wall mount, vacuum the sofas, chairs, swap out to the floor attachment and tidy up the living room and hallways. The battery on the lower settings is more than enough to hash out a quick run through the common areas. The only concern is when you hit carpet and need to use the higher setting to really pull the dander out of the fabric. I find that I don’t quite get the battery time I did when cleaning the hardwood floors and furniture.
All things considered, my allergies haven’t been as bad, my clothes pick up less hair and dander from the sofas. I find myself reaching for it more often because I don’t have to mess with the hassle of a cord. The only thing that concerns me is having an internal battery. When it comes time to replace an aging battery, will the cost offset just buying a new unit, and how often will they need to be replaced? Only time will tell, but that doesn’t take anything away yet of making this a fantastic vacuum if you have pets.

Stainless Steel Smart Watch That Does What You Wan
on December 3, 2019
Posted by: TravisJ
from La Grange, KY
The Fossil Gen 5 smart watch is a watch that serves whatever purpose you need from a smart watch. You can get notifications from emails to text messages. Receive phone calls. Track activity and heart rate. You can even tell time with it with it's always on display.
Right out of the box I knew I had to make an adjustment to the band. I had a small precision driver kit that I used to remove some links. All in all, I took out 5 links which wasn’t hard to do as long as you have something small enough to punch out the pins. After putting it back together the watch fits perfectly.
Setup was quick and with little effort. I, like many, already had a google account so that made things a bit easier and syncing to my iPhone through the WearOS app was painless. Just a few swipes and allowing access to contacts and apps on my phone, I was in. The software is mostly based on swiping and the use of the crown. I didn’t find myself really using the other two buttons that often, although they can be assigned to open apps you use frequently. The touch controls are pretty easy to use and get used to. The screen colors are bright and sharp enough to see in bright daylight.
Notifications work really well on this device. I noticed they were very timely and easy to see at a glance. A few lines of an email or text message gave me just enough information to decide whether I needed to pull my phone out a for a full-blown conversation, or if it needed to wait until a more appropriate setting to respond.
One of my favorite things about the watch is the power modes you can choose from. If your going out and you just want a stylish time piece, you can turn on the time only power mode where the watch will only show the time when you press the digital crown. The battery life on the time only mode is easily a couple days and I use more often on the weekends when I’m more social and just want a nice-looking watch when going out.
The few downsides to this device are battery life when using the full suite of features and Bluetooth interference when making phone calls. I noticed when using my headset in the car I get a lot of interference and static sound when I’m wearing the Fossil watch and it’s connected to my phone. When I place the watch in airplane mode, the interference goes away. This could be just my unique setup or headset that has this issue but may cause a problem for some. Also, the battery life is nearly all day when using all the features on the phone such as sound, notifications, heart rate monitor, always on display, etc. Switching to extended battery, time only, or custom settings is easy enough, and I do feel like it “Should” be low on battery by the end of the day, I do find myself throwing it on time only mode towards the end of the day just to keep it from going dead.
All in all, the Fossil Gen 5 is a very nice looking smart watch. If you like google assistant, tracking heart rate and work outs, getting notifications and phone calls, or just enjoy a nice looking wrist piece that tells time, this checks all the boxes and does it while looking like a luxury item and not an electronic. You may just need to keep the charger close by if you plan on wearing it all day and being out late.

The Linksys Velop MX10 whole-home Wi-Fi 6 system gives you more speed, coverage, and capacity than it ever has before. Wi-Fi 6 combined with Velop's Intelligent Mesh~ technology delivers true Gigabit Wi-Fi speeds, up to 5.3 Gbps, to every corner of your home, even the backyard and outdoor smart home devices. Wi-Fi 6 also sends and receives multiple streams of data simultaneously and reduces latency, providing up to 4x more capacity compared to Wi-Fi 5 technology. So, it can handle the demands of up to 50 devices and more, from laptops and gaming consoles to smart home devices and 4K TVs, all competing for the same bandwidth. You'll also always have a more efficient Wi-Fi experience with OFDMA that enables more data to and from your devices in a more streamlined manner. And, with BSS technology, congestion is also minimized eliminating interference from nearby wireless networks to deliver a strong, clear Wi-Fi signal to your home, so you won't have to worry about your neighbor's Wi-Fi interfering with yours again. You'll even have 7x more battery life with Target Wake Time that reduces network interference, allowing your devices to remain in sleep mode longer. The MX10 whole-home Wi-Fi 6 system is a part of Velop's modular system, so if you need more coverage, just add more nodes. Plus, setup is fast with the Linksys app, so you can enjoy the next evolution of Wi-Fi in minutes.

Streamlined Setup. Current Gen WiFi
on November 9, 2019
Posted by: TravisJ
from La Grange, KY
Pros:
— Very impressive setup experience. The mobile app walks you through all the steps. From opening the box to connecting a daughter node around 20 minutes. I did spend some time moving around some plugs. More on that later.
— Clean look. While hefty, the router itself is very clean looking. All of the IO is in the back and the LED status light is on the top and very subtle. Over time I see this blending in with the rest of the furniture. It just looks like it belongs on a book shelf.
— Speed is very impressive, especially if you’re using a device that supports wireless AX (WiFi 6). Connection speed to network drives is the same as if it were connected to my laptop. Files transfer very quickly.
— QOS is easy to set up. Just pick your device from the list and drag it into one of the 3 priority slots.
— One broadcast name for simple setup. No need to set up multiple WiFi networks for different bands. Devices automatically connect to the best frequency.
— I plugged in my network drive into the usb slot and it instantly connected and I was able to quickly access my files.
— WPS setup was the fastest of any router I’ve owned. I used this to connect my printer and had to check to make sure it worked because it was so quick.
Cons:
— I wasn’t impressed with the size/shape of the power brick. It was difficult to find a spot to plug it into my power strip and I ended up having to unplug several devices and move it around to find a spot to plug it in.
— The bands you can turn on is limited. I’m only given the option for “mixed”. On the 5ghz band all my devices are wireless ac so mixed isn’t necessary but couldn’t figure out how to dedicate it to wireless ac.
— No landscape mode for ipad app.
Other Thoughts:
For the speed and power the router has, the size is compact. My wife loves the look compared to the dead spider look you get from other routers. It blends in with the décor beautifully and delivers next gen connectivity.

One of the best steaks I’ve ever cooked
on November 1, 2019
Posted by: TravisJ
from La Grange, KY
Out of the box, everything is assembled and ready to go into the water. The clamp has a large knob that’s textured and easy to turn. You can read the instructions if you want which are helpful, but ultimately, I went to the internet and found some cook time and temperatures for things I wanted to try.
Setup is really easy. Get a pot that will hold some hot water. Attach the sous vide cooker. I had mine just ½” from the bottom and made sure the water covered most of the stainless part of the device. Plug in the Anova and it comes on. Use the temperature button to set the temperature, use the timer button if you want to set a timer. Press the play button. Yup, that’s it. Drop in whatever food you want to sous vide (in a air deprived bag of course) and you’re sous vide cooking.
I really wanted to try steak for my first sous vide experience. I set the temperature to 145 degrees (my wife likes well done steaks, what do you do?) and actually put ice water in the pot because I was headed to bed. The overall sous vide time was about 5 hours. The steaks came out perfectly cooked, I seared them off in a pan when they came out, and was nearly able to cut the steak with a butter knife. Vacuum sealing the marinade in around the steak really infused the flavors in the meat. I can’t wait to try ribs, tenderloins, filets, wings, and the like.
What really made the experience a win for me, was knowing I can start it before I leave the house and don’t have to worry about cooking it a few hours over the recommended times and know I’ll have a super tender and delicious dinner when I get home.
The biggest downside of this device is the WiFi experience. The setup process seems pretty straight forward, and for the most part is. The issue is the bugs around how the device connects to your WiFi. I never actually got mine connected and looking at the internet, many other people haven’t either. I spent maybe a hour trying to get it connected and stopped just short of changing my WiFi network name. In 2019 being able to connect something to WiFi shouldn’t be an issue. My water heater connects to WiFi. Anova still has a lot of work to do in this department.
With that being said, in no way whatsoever, does this affect the quality of food, which is amazing, or the ease of use from the device itself. I will be using this cooking method every chance I get and the lack of WiFi isn’t going to stop me. If you love to cook and love using technology to make your food taste great, sous vide should be in your arsenal.

Great grip and great protection for it’s profile
on September 5, 2019

I love speck cases and I love the grip lineup they’ve had for a while now. This case falls in the “candy shell” case category. There is a soft rubbery inside with a hard plastic on the outside. What makes this case different, and one of my favorites from speck for a while now, is the ribbed grips on the outside of the case.
Speck has been living in the sweet zone for a long time with their protection to bulk ratio. I find that the phone still gets lost in my pocket with the case but I’m not worried about a drop from chest height. What makes the grip unique is your ability to manipulate the phone in your hands without adding any significant bulk.
I take a lot of pictures at work, so I’m constantly moving my phone in landscape, then back to portrait to either email it out or make any necessary edits. Since I’m surrounded by machines and constantly hovering over mezzanine railings to get a better angle, keeping a grip on my device is top priority, especially since phones are getting bigger and harder to navigate one handed.
The cut outs on the case are spot on with a wide opening for the charge port for larger chargers while the buttons are still protected and easy to actuate. I find that dust has a hard time getting into the case which prevents scratching in the long term. What I do get, and it’s expected, is debris around the bottom speaker and microphone cut outs, which can be easily cleaned by removing the case and running under some warm water.
If I ever collect more than one case for whatever phone I’m using at the time, I almost always have the speck grip.

Amazing Customization
on August 19, 2019
Posted by: TravisJ
from La Grange, KY
I’ve been a fan of Logitech products for a long time. They make fantastic products and this one is no different. The G-Hub app is a one stop shop for customizing both my mouse and the G815 keyboard.
Design
The design of this keyboard is probably my favorite part. It has a very minimalistic and clean design while still giving you all the essentials in a full-size keyboard. The black keys on top of the gray aluminum is a refreshing break from the black on black I’m used to seeing. The Logitech G-hub software gives you no short supply of RGB options either. The large selection of preset options lets you quickly customize various effects, including reactive presets like ripple.
Carrying on with the design is the keys themselves. They use GL Clicky keys which put me in mind of the cherry mx blue switches. I type very well on the mx blues and the GL Clicky keys are no different. I also like the tactile feedback when gaming. You’re not really at any risk of hitting a key without knowing it.
Gaming
No issues with gaming. In fact, having the dedicated and programable “G” buttons leave a lot of room for customizing. When you do a lot of repetitive tasks in a game you can program keystroke macros or combinations using the G-hub software. Where some games have a lot of dedicated keys for certain tasks, you can reprogram those keys or combinations to the “G” buttons and keep your hand close to the WSAD keys.
You can also use the “G” keys to launch programs and perform other hotkey tasks. There are 3 different “M” groups of dedicated “G” keys. To switch between the groups, simply press the dedicated key above the function keys and you can use up to 15 different macros or hot keys. I use the 3rd group to launch and control apps such as opening discord or toggling whether I’m recording or not using discord. I dedicate the first and second groups to my favorite games.
Pressing the game mode button will de-activate keys you select in the G-Hub app to prevent any accidental keystrokes that will pull you out of the game. You can toggle this on and off in between matches to access background programs or just set one of the “G” keys to switch between open apps.
Other Thoughts
The sleek, thin design of the keyboard allows great portability, although the aluminum build quality still makes it a hefty boy. The usb pass through brings an extra usb from the back of your machine to the keyboard. The volume roller is smooth and allows quick control of volume. If I had to give one petty complaint, the white RGB color has a bluish hue to it. Not a deal breaker by any means.

Premium Wireless Gaming Experience
on August 8, 2019
Posted by: TravisJ
from La Grange, KY
Comfort:
Comfort, more than anything, is important to me when wearing a headset. The sound doesn’t really matter if it’s not comfortable to wear. I get almost no fatigue on my ears when doing long gaming sessions. I work 3rd shift so I’m usually rocking these while the rest of the house sleeps on my days off.
The only discomfort I do get, after several hours, is from the headband foam. I think if they used a softer foam in the head band it would mitigate or eliminate this altogether.
Sound/Mic:
Disclaimer, I’m not an audiophile, but I really enjoy the sound from this headset. When playing games, it’s easy to tell which direction I’m hearing sound from. Music and effects come across loud and balanced. Voice audio also comes through well and I have no issues hearing my friends on the other end. You will not be disappointed listening to music on these either as they serve as perfectly good headphones for music and movies.
What’s also great is the amount of control you get using the Astro command center when in PC mode. Being able to customize, tweak, and save profiles for both audio and microphone levels is amazing. The advanced EQ settings really give you the fine tune control to dial in the sound you want. Whether if you’re looking for a theatrical experience or really want to highlight footstep sounds in a game, you can customize to your hearts desire to give you the desired results.
Connectivity:
One thing that has been impressive is the strong connectivity with this headset. During long gaming sessions, food and drink become important, but you don’t want to miss the conversation or hear static from the other end. Not been a problem for me. I don’t have that many walls between me and the kitchen but there’s easily 35 to 40 feet separating me from the base station.
Also, in the connectivity category is the base station itself. The base station comes with two modes, depending on which version you purchased, to either play with PC optimization or PlayStation 4 customization. You do have to manually flip a switch depending on which platform you’re on. It would have been nice if there was an auto-detect built in, but for now, we’re stuck with the toggle.
Having a charging solution where you just sit the headphones down and pick them up can be a game changer if your old wireless headphones constantly need to be plugged in. The headset will power itself off after some time, and when you pick them up to use them, they power back on so there’s no button flipping on the headset, they’re just ready to go. The base station also comes with an Aux port as well as a charge and play port in the event you forget to seat them in the base station.
Final Thoughts:
This headset will retire my old one and become a permanent fixture on my computer desk. I game on both PC and PS4, depending on the game, and I regularly switch between both with the headset. Music, movies, and most importantly, games, sound absolutely fantastic and find myself putting them on more and more when I don’t have to just for the premium quality of sound.
The only things I would request on the next iteration would be a bit more adjustability in the head band, interchangeable head band foam (like the replaceable ear muffs), USB-C, and finally, dual operability with the base station, as in, both pc and ps4 plugged in at once so switching between the two is easier.

Store more than 50 PlayStation 4 game titles on this 2TB Seagate game drive. Its USB 3.0 port provides fast loading of full-size games so you can play smoothly, and its tough aluminum enclosure protects the drive from damage. This plug-and-play Seagate game drive is automatically recognized by any PS4, PS4 Slim or PS4 Pro console.

I've gotten quite tired of always uninstalling and reinstalling my games to make room and I was thinking about buying one of these. So, since all my games are hard copy, does that matter? For example, with this, will I be able to reinstall hard copy games

According to Sony’s website you can use from 250GB to 8TB in external storage to install games.

Listen to your playlist in peace with these Sony headphones. They have a 40mm dome driver to deliver the full depth of audio, and the noise cancelling feature minimizes outside disturbances for a better listening experience. These Sony headphones have a battery life of up to 30 hours for extended jam sessions.

Would you be able to use these headphones to workout at the gym? Is the clamping of the headphones to your ears tight enough so it doesn't slip out as i do certain lifts? Are replaceable ear pads available for this model that are more comfortable?

These will work fine at the gym. They come with 4 different sized wing tips and ear tips so that you can customize the fit to your ear. Since these are new, It's unlikely to have 3rd party ear tips or wings at the moment.
