Two of the best Anthrax albums with John Bush, and Nuclear Blast paired them together. These were difficult to find. No matter which era of the band you favor more, Bush or Belladonna, you need to get this.

2-in-1, you can't beat that! Exodus' first two releases on Nuclear Blast, which should be considered classics at this point, saw the band moving forward despite certain obstacles (breakup, hiatus, the death of Paul Baloff, and even the eventual leaving of key members before making Shovel Headed Kill Machine). Tempo Of The Damned was the return of the band after many years, and can easily be considered old school thrash in it's purest form while Shovel Headed Kill Machine is more like the beast that refused to stay locked in it's cage. Need I say more?

Even after all these years, Meshuggah is still innovative in their own right, and this album proves it. The fact that they've recorded the instruments live shows that they're willing to aim for a less sterile sound, and some fans may think that this tends to show their age, but who cares how old they are? They've still got it!

Apparently with this album and Stabbing The Drama, fans accused Soilwork of going metalcore, a sound that with other Swedish contemporaries like In Flames and At The Gates they helped inspire. However, I think this album is an example of everything great about the band. One thing I find funny when I read about this album coming out was when they had announced that Devin Townsend (Natural Born Chaos producer) would be involved in the making of this album. Immediately it was thought he's be recording the whole album, but he was the vocal producer. Another thing to note is that the limited edition (which comes standard) comes with a bonus DVD with making of the album and live bootleg, and a bonus track. This bonus track which is titled Martyr, while a must-have, is also included in a newly remixed version on the band's latest release Death Resonance.

After some Soilwork fans were disappointed in the accessibility of Figure Number Five's sound, they turned up the intensity level on Stabbing The Drama. Some say the band went metalcore on this album, but I found that hard to believe especially since Soilwork is one band that has inspired quite a few metalcore bands including Killswitch Engage, Shadows Fall, and As I Lay Dying. If you trying to find the limited edition with the bonus track Wherever Thorns May Grow, don't worry about getting it. It's included in a newly remixed version on the band's latest release Death Resonance.

Continuing in the style of The Big Dirty, the intensity level is increased here on Every Time I Die's fifth album (their first for Epitaph Records) New Junk Aesthetic. If you're a fan, get it now.

Where The Big Dirty and New Junk Aesthetic were quite catchy and heavy, Every Time I Die's Ex Lives album goes deeper. Certainly punk rock deep. If you can manage, get the deluxe edition for three bonus tracks.

I read a pretty funny review from a random listener of this CD that said this whole album reminded him of The New Black, a song from their previous album Gutter Phenomenon. I can't wrap my head around that. A single song? Let me tell you about The Big Dirty. While it's certainly got it's catchy moments, it's far accessible and less polished than Gutter Phenomenon. I'm not talking Last Night In Town or Hot D***! level intensity, but it's still a mammoth I think.

Sick Of It All is a true example of New York Hardcore along with other Hardcore greats Madball and Agnostic Front. Based On A True Story exemplifies the band's sound. If this doesn't convince you, then they're not for you, and you should get lost.

Peter Tägtgren is a busy guy. Between producing/mixing albums, and playing in 3 bands (Hypocrisy, Pain, Lindemann), he doesn't seem to take a break, and it in no way hinders the music. Even working with Rammstein frontman Till Lindemann has had a sort of influence on the writing for this album Coming Home. For newbies, Pain is an industrial project for Peter, and is a totally different animal from the blackened death metal of Hypocrisy. This is for fans of Rammstein, Static-X, Rob Zombie, and Marilyn Manson. If this interests you, I recommend the album as well others from the band, including a few albums that are currently hard to get such as Nothing Remains The Same and Psalms Of Extinction.
