What metalhead doesn't have Megadeth in his/her collection, let alone this album? You're simply cheating yourself by not buying it. Check out Holy Wars... The Punishment Due and Hanger 18, then prepare to pick this up immediately!

Well, the first time I heard this album....I know what you're thinking. You think I'm gonna say that I wasn't blown away until I heard Jane Doe. Well....you're not totally wrong. I was actually floored more so when I heard You Fail Me, but back to the review. Upon repeated listening of When Forever Comes Crashing, I grew to like it more. It doesn't have the power of their followup albums, but it's a keeper and I think it's the best of the early releases Converge put out.

I didn't think much about Torche when I spotted one of their CD's at the mall, but after learning they had worked with Converge guitarist Kurt Ballou (Nails, High On Fire, Black Breath), I gave them a shot, and hear I am reviewing. They definitely remind me of Baroness, but better. There's something about the songs that just resonate with me more. I immediately bought their latest album Restarter. Word to the wise, if you can get their other albums, do. They are out of print and difficult to find new.

Say what you want about this album, but it's unbelievable. Too many fans keep saying "it's not as good as Hate." I know it's difficult, but try not to compare a band's new album to their previous body of work. You're not likely to get a "part 2" of something that you thought they didn't excellently. Yes, Hate is an awesome album, but Holy War is miles away from Hate. It's the heaviest and catchiest thing they've done so far.
Vocalist Chris "CJ" McMahon decided to leave the band last year. Hopefully they'll have a replacement who's as good if not better for their next album.

Dark Funeral's debut was reissued once already with the Unisound (their original recordings that were scrapped) bonus CD. This Century Media reissue repackages that along with new liner notes to give you some insight into the making of this album. Just a little knowledge for you: they originally recorded the album with Dan Swanö (Katatonia, Bloodbath, WItherscape), but it didn't turn out good because he used a new system that he didn't have time to get familiar with. The Unisound tracks included on the bonus CD were remixed by Daniel Bergstrand (Meshuggah, Soilwork, Behemoth) and remastered by Peter In De Betou (Hypocrisy, Dark Tranquillity, Dimmu Borgir), and they honestly sound great, but no where near as great as the final recordings.

Very much anticipated and for a good reason. There's some European influences (Opeth anybody?) throughout their music, but they make it their own, and it's so heavy and catchy that you want to listen to each and every song. Check this out along with The Wreckage Of Stars if you haven't already.

In 2001, amidst all the new metal that was coming out (Slipknot, System Of A Down, Mudvayne), American Head Charge stood out. Yeah, there's some comparisons with the other bands I named, but they were different enough that I think anybody could take notice.
Since then, the band has gone with numerous lineup changes, the death of one of their guitarists, and even disbanding. This year, they've managed to release their third album Tango Unbrella, which in my opinion is the sound of a band re-energized and ready to destroy. Get all three of their albums if you can.

What an album! Not being very familiar with Thomas Gabriel Fischer and his work especially in Celtic Frost, I was surprised when I heard of Triptykon and this album, I expected a lot of black metal. What I got was very avant-garde: ambient, doomy.....far beyond expectations. Highly recommended.

After their debut full length, American Head Charge went with a full-on organic production on The Feeding. When you hear the performance, it is like listening to them play live. If you enjoyed The War Of Art, this is the perfect followup.
