Gojira are not your average death metal band nor are they your average progressive metal band, I think this album shows that. Seems that not being progressive enough is one of the prevailing complaints here. If that's what your looking for, look somewhere else. I like this band, but I'm not a huge fan. Now that that's out of the way, I really dig the album. It's different and totally unexpected, and I think anyone into heavy music should check it out at least.

Don't look at this band as another deathcore band. They are so much more than that, and this CD is a worthy introduction. For fans of Whitechapel, Thy Art Is Murder, The Acacia Strain, Suffocation, etc.

With Mudvayne on the backburner, it seems that Hellyeah is now Chad Gray's main band. This is not a bad thing though. It seems that the band is now putting out the level of quality metal they need to: less party metal, more serious foot-to-throat metal. Band Of Brothers was the catalyst as it wasn't abandoning the party mentality, but it was heavier than Stampede and what they need to make leading to the major change on Blood For Blood. Unden!able is probably their best, but if you weren't a fan before, it won't change your mind. Do however check out the amazing cover of Phil Collins' "I Don't Care Anymore," which features an unmistakable guitar track by the late Dimebag Darrell.

Following The Last Kind Words, fans expected obliteration-level heaviness. Pray For Villains isn't as heavy, but it makes up for it in catchy songs and top-notch production. If you weren't a fan of DevilDriver before, you're not likely to change your mind and should keep walking.

Uncompromising, pulverizing death metal is what Suffocation is known for, and this is no different. Mixed & mastered by Zeuss (Hatebreed, Whitechapel, The Acacia Strain), and featuring a monumental performance from Dave Culross (Malevolent Creation, Incantation), you need to check this out.

Besides maybe The Pretty Reckless, I feel Halestorm is the best female-fronted rock band on the radio right now. This album is every bit as good as their self-titled debut, but don't just take it from me. Check it out for yourself.

Don't let other reviews showing disappointment towards this album influence your decision in checking this out. Yes, Contaminating The Hive Mind was great, but this is not that album. This is Mechanisms Of Omniscience, and it's awesome. For fans of Immolation, Devourment, Suffocation, and Pathology,

Wow, this is unexpected. Not bad, just totally unexpected of Dark Sermon. Let's get one thing straight: Dark Sermon is not some run of the mill deathcore band. Their mix of death metal, hardcore, and black metal shows it. In Tongues was a behemoth. For The Oracle, I hear a lot of Behemoth influence especially from Evangelion and The Satanist. Recommended for fans of Immolation, Behemoth, Dark Fortress, and The Black Dahlia Murder.

Coal Chamber is pure '90's gold. Forget the Korn comparisons, they're in a class of their own, they proved that on Chamber Music. Their self-titled album was raw and visceral and often compared to Korn and White Zombie. Here, they took on a sound that was more melodic, fusing alternative and industrial sounds. There's still the characteristics from the first album, just don't expect any songs like Loco or Big Truck.
