Sonos - One SL Wireless Smart Speaker - Black
Get rich, room-filling sound with this Sonos One SL speaker, and control it with the Sonos app, Apple AirPlay 2, and more. Pair it with Sonos One or another One SL in the same room for stereo separation and more detailed sound.
I'm looking for a wifi speaker that can play sound from a television program I'm watching for music I'm listening to from my iPad. Is this a good option?
If you want to connect your WiFi speaker to the television and hear that sound through it you would need to purchase the Sonos Beam. It functions as a sound bar for your television (and lets you play television content to other Sonos speakers throughout your home) and can stream music using the Sonos app on your iPad or Airplay 2. The Sonos One SL does not have a way to directly connect to your television and play that sound.

Sonos Move is unable to be used as rear speakers for any of our home theater products. It is designed to be a speaker that can easily move about your house and beyond and locking it to a single location is counter that that type of use.

As long as your CD player has the proper outputs and you have passive speakers to connect to the Amp you can definitely add your CD collection to your Sonos system this way!

can I connect ATV4k with optical and use HDMI for Netflix from my TV? I'm really confused about conflicting info with ATV4k and cables. how would this work on the ARC to get true Atmos?
In order to get Atmos from an Apple TV you must have a television that supports eARC instead of the traditional ARC. Apple uses a format of Atmos that can only be passed through the higher bandwidth eARC connection that is only present on very new televisions. Digital Optical lacks the bandwidth to pass any Atmos signal.

Would there be any issues with moisture if used under a patio for an out door speaker?
The Sonos One is a sealed speaker that is designed to withstand humid environments and variations in temperature, like a bathroom or a garage. It is not designed to withstand the full force of the weather which is why outdoor environments with direct exposure to the elements is not recommend.

Can you use the Alexa voice assist to control the playback for music that is locally-stored on a hard drive and managed through the Sonos desktop app?
The Sonos system can currently only control services that Alexa and Google Assistant can control. This means that you would have transport controls (play, pause, skip, previous, volume up, volume down) with locally stored music you would not be able to start music or search your library using your voice. Those functions would have to be done in the Sonos app.

I have the playbar. Is this replacing the playbar and is it better? The playbar is the best soundbar I’ve owned
The Playbar will ultimately be replaced by the Sonos Arc from a sales availability perspective. However, the Playbar will continue to receive new features and updates and continue to be a great soundbar! If you want voice, Atmos, and a more powerful speaker array then upgrading to the Arc might be the right thing for you!

Would these speakers work with a Bluetooth turntable (the Pro-ject essential iii Bluetooth) without cables?
A Bluetooth enabled turntable can absolutely play through the Bluetooth capability of the Sonos Move. It will not add the turntable to a greater Sonos system (as that functionality is reserved for WiFi) but it can be used in the way that you describe in the question.
