It says you have to turn the speaker vertical to get stereo separation. Can they be laid horizontal and still be paired with another speaker to get L&R stereo separation?
You can absolutely still get stereo separation with these paired and set horizontally. The speaker knows its configuration and smartly adjusts its digital sound processing to get the best sound. Vertical orientation gets a more pronounced "sweet spot" which is great for critical listening. Horizontal orientation still provides with stereo separation but gives you a much wider sound stage which is great for filling a whole room or a party with music!

Does it matter if you have them directly behind you when watching tv?
You can place these speakers anywhere to the left and right back of the room to provide the rear channel sound. Utilizing Trueplay will allow the Sonos system to tune the timing and sound profile to where they are placed relative to your sitting position.

So it’s called wireless but it needs to be hooked up to power to work? If so can you recommend an actual wireLESS outdoor speaker?

If you are looking for television sound your best Sonos option would be the Sonos Arc, a Sub, and 2 Sonos Fives as rear channels and to add volume for music when playing music.

The Sonos Playbar does not support any Dolby Atmos or DTC formats. The new Sonos Arc supports Dolby Atmos but not DTS.

I have the LG oled65c8pua 2018 model, will if I try watch something on the Netflix app which has atoms, will the soundbar output atoms?
The Sonos Arc will play Atmos as long as it receives the Dolby Digital+ signal (which is what Netflix uses) from the television through the ARC port.

Can you control the volume with a TV remote?
Yes! The Arc has an IR passthrough that learns your other remotes you use for volume and if it connected through ARC and you have CEC+ controls enabled it will control the television as well.
