Reading some reviews (elsewhere) that the fan is awful loud...is the fan noise annoying?

It is a standard 5400RPM hard drive with a 1Terabyte capacity. 1 TB = 1,024 GB = 1,048,576 MB = 1,073,741,824 KB = 1,099,511,627,776 bytes. In other words, a 1 TB hard drive has the capacity to hold a trillion bytes. That's a far step up from floppy disks that only held thousands of bytes.
