Is there a two in one package with a digital camera and a video camera?

I need something that has a video camera and digital camera all in one.
If you are asking if there is a two camera bundle...none that I am aware of. If you are looking for a digital camera that takes both video and still photos, many of the compact digital cameras have a Video and Audio recording function (movie Mode). These are of limited quality but still surprisingly good, mostly of a quality with uploading as e-mail attachment in mind. Some models can record at 30fps (frames per second).
Almost all video camcorders have a photo function. The quality has improved to be as good if not better than some compacts.
If you want the quality of a D-SLR camera and still want great video look at the Nikon D90 found here:
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage...
It is the World’s first D-SLR with an HD movie mode. It can record cinematic-quality 24fps movie clips with sound at up to 720p HD (1280 x 720 pixels) in Motion JPEG format, enhanced by NIKKOR interchangeable lens quality and versatility

nikon s60 vs s630

worst it or not 2mp difference , and 2 x zoom , is the s60 good enough???
It all would depend on what you are wanting to do with the photos. The 12mp S630 would give you a little more cropping room and the 7x Optical zoom would be helpful in some situations. Considering that the S60 has less Zoom and Megapixels and is only few dollars difference in price than the S630, plus S630 has over twice the internal memory..I would lean toward the S630.
If you are not interested in the extra zoom and megapixels and you were to compare the S560 to the S630 the price difference is much greater. The S560 might be the better choice.

Where to find a Digital-8 camcorder (the old handicams that use Hi-8 and digital-8 tapes) that is in PAL format?

I am looking for the older style Digital-8 camcorder (used is fine!) for copying old tapes onto miniDV and/or DVDs. The footage is in the European PAL system, so the camera has to be PAL, not NTSC. I tried Europe Craig's List, without success.
Found this on Ebay. Auction set to end March 17th.

Can I recover my deleted videos from my sony camera?

I have tried the pctools online to recover videos from my camera but not all the videos were recovered. Is there any other way I can recover those videos. There were many videos. Is there a store that I can show it to and get my videos back. Please help me. I really need the videos back.
Thank You.
I'm sorry to hear about your lost videos. Sad to say this happens to everyone who use a camcorder regardless of the media. Tape can jam or break, disks get scratched and HDD and Flash can get erased or corrupted. When it comes to Hard drive and/or Memory based camcorders, if any footage is recorded to the media after the erasure it is lost forever. There would be a chance if nothing was recorded after a format or delete, but once new footage is added recovery is less likely to work.
The recovery programs work off of hidden files in the FAT (File Allocation Table). When a file is deleted the name is changed slightly so the device knows it can write new data to that area. If no new data is written to that area the Data Recovery program can change the name back to a readable name again. But...once new data is written the old name does not exist anymore so there is nothing to recover.
You could try taking the camcorder to the Geek Squad and see what else they can recover. They might be able to get more.
If you want to try yourself take a look at R-Studio.

Is there a glare guard so images can be seen on camera

I have a NikonCookPix 4800 that works fine but I can't see the screen in the sun or when wearing sunglasses so I have to use the little screen like old cameras. Is there a "filter" or cover for the larger screen so it can be used more easily outdoors?
Do a Google search for “Anti-Glare LCD protector” and you'll find what you are looking for.

Are there HD camcorders with the hard drive?

Do you recommend Hard Drive vs. the tapes/discs? Having trouble picking out camcorder. We are interested in taping kids activities and family vacations.
Hard Drive camcorders are nice however...if you ever need to send it in for repair you need to make sure all of your video is off of it and backed up somewhere. You can not remove the drive and just send the camera. Tape and Flash based camcorders have removable media. If you are looking to edit the footage you shoot and your computer has a firewire input a Tape based camcorder is easier to edit with. A flash based camcorder is smaller, lighter, has less moving parts and is less likely to break down.
Record lengths are longer on the Flash based camcorder. Tape is limited to 60mins, 90mins in LP mode. Flash is much longer and is only limited by the size of the memory card used.
So...if you want to edit...Tape is best.
If editing is not an issue....Flash is the way to go.

Which camcorder to buy?

We are going to Disney and would like to take great pictures there as well as kids events - like dancing on a stage, sporting events etc. What is recommended?

Panasonic SDR-S7 is one that was recommended but the reviews are not promising.
The Panasonic SDR-S7 only has a 10x optical zoom lens which is not very much for the sort of shooting you are looking to do. The higher the optical zoom the better. Canon and JVC both have flash based camcorders that have optical zoom between 35x to 40x.
The new JVC Everio has 40x Optical Zoom. For more info look here:

Can I transfer 8mm videotapes to dvd? How?

If you still have a functioning camcorder, than check out the Dazzle from Pinnacle Systems. This is device that bridges between analog devices and the digital world allowing you to capture your video on the computer. You then can edit if required and burn a DvD. For more information on the Dazzle look here: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage...
This does require your computer to have a DvD burner.
You can also connect straight to a stand alone DvD burner by connecting the A/V (Audio Video) cable from the camcorder to the recorder.
If you have no working camcorder, try finding a used Digital 8. These camcorders generally can play back 8mm and Hi8 tapes and, if your computer has a firewire port, you can capture to your computer using editing software.
Finally, if you are not the “Hands on” type, you can look for a local Dub House. This is a place that does duplications and video conversions. If you can't find one listed in the phone book try calling a local TV station. They usually know where one is.

I would like a camcorder w/microphone for use on exterior landscapes, in the $250-450 range, that is easy to operate.

I am technologically challenged, and want a camcorder for my landscaping business, that will record my voice as I film. I have a laptop w/dvd burner that I could burn images for filing purposes.
All the camcorders have an attached mic so it will be easy for you to narrate while you record footage. There are many really good camcorders in that price range. Something like the Flip or Slim line pistol grip style camcorders will be easier to carry since they fit well in a pocket. For more Zoom Power look at the small hand held models.
Most all models have become more user friendly and are easy to operate.

What is the best digital camera for a deploying soldier?

The environment that the camera will be going into will be pretty dusty and harsh. Any of the Olympus SW series of cameras would be good. The are built to be weather resistant and take great photos.
