i need a camera, not a slr but...

i need a camera that takes good pictures at night, mostly of friends and at nightclubs. and good Outside pictures with good color in the day... so i need something with a very strong flash and i guess fast shooter, something with sort of big lences but in a small digital camera. good resolution, good color in the day time. good sharpness incase i crop a picture. very Good color saturation and skin tones. good resolution & incandescent performance. good for prints of 4x6 5x7 and maybe 11x14. good detail (atleast almost) No noise, ive had alot of cameras that had this problem thats why im so picky with noise now.
i really-really loooved the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H50 even though it sort of makes skin really shiny or too oily with the flash, and its a little too big for me to carry in a clutch purse. i like cameras that have nice good pop out color when on auto, but i use the white balance, on Fluorescent and Incandescent alot. i'd like it to have a good Shutter speed. and... i think its called motion stabilization, so pictures dont blur, we do alot of quick-shots. i really like the way pictures come out with the Slow-Sync flash mode but i dont like to use it. i dont need it to be top-noch, but those are the things i look for mainly in a camera, it doesnt have to be excellent at all these things, but fairly good. oh! and i need it to use a SD card.
i also liked the Canon PowerShot SD1000 Digital ELPH because it looked like it had a good flash. Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W170 was okay too, i didnt get to check it out too well but the sample pictures were pretty good. the Canon PowerShot SD870 IS Digital ELPH, the pictures also were nice and the flash was very nice, but i didnt think the camera was too cute and the 880 had awful flash. the Fujifilm FinePix Z5fd takes really good pictures indoors but the flash was ehh-okay... not great, but it was super cute! i also really liked the flash on the Canon PowerShot SD1100 IS Digital ELPH but it washed out some color, and i heard the flash takes 10 secounds to recharge, i didnt understand that too well but i dont think that was a good thing. i liked the flash on Nikon Coolpix P5100 alot!
i didnt get to check out the noise, or the picture quality and stuff too well, and i read a few reviews, not too many though. they all have good reviews and not so good, so im a little confused on wich one to pick...like i said i really liked the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H50, i want something like it, but not too "slr type" and not too pricey...say around $150-$250. any suggestions?..please help, thnx much!
Wow!!!... Now thats a question....
You listed quite a few cameras and all of them pretty good ones. I will throw one more in for you to think about. It also has very good reviews. Since you will be taking it into an environment where anything could happen from spills to accidental drops, you may want to look at the 850 SW from Olympus. It is Shock and Weather resistant and will handle most accidents. To find out more follow this link: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage...

How much video can I record onto an 8GB SDHC memory card?

That depends a lot on if you are recording SD (Standard Definition) or HD (High Definition) and the quality you are recording in (XP, SP, LP...ect).
Just as an average:
HD at XP (Best Quality and Speed) approximately 55mins.
SD at LP (Least Quality and Slowest Speed) approximately 5hrs 20mins.

dvd-rw and dvd+rw

what is the difference between dvd-rw and dvd+rw? i just bought a SONY650 from best buy, which one could i use in my camcorder?
There are some small differences between the “-” and “+” DvD formats. Most of it on the technical aspects.
The “+” format is a little newer than the “-” and some older DvD players might have problems playing it back. With DvD + RW media, there is no need to finalize the disc.
The “-” is the most commonly found format and some times priced lower. The Sony DCR-DVD650 camcorder can use - R, + R, - RW and + RW....so you are OK to use any you can find. Chances that you will find a player that is too old to play back he +RW disks is very slim.

I'd like to have a photo enlarged to a 16x20 or 20x26 what megapixel is needed?

There once was a statement that 4MP was in the “Professional” range of megapixel. Now compact cameras are 8MP and higher. Professional D-SLR cameras are 10 to 32MP (and some much higher).
Megapixel is all about how much information is in the file. Print is all about how much resolution is in the print data. The printer is the DPI (Dots Per Inch) and this number helps determine how sharp your print is and how large it can be enlarged to. A print of 100x100 DPI is only 100 vertical and 100 horizontal DOTS of ink in 1 inch of print. This is not very much of an image. Now 1200x1200 would be 1200 vertical and 1200 horizontal DOTS of ink in that same inch. That's pretty sharp. DPI is not to be confused with PPI.
PPI (Pixels Per Inch) refers to how many pixels are used in the making of one inch of the image.
If your final print goal is 16x20 and/or 20x26, using a 8MP camera will just get you in there (depending on the distance the print is viewed from). Of course using a D-SLR 8MP camera will give you a better image than a compact 8MP because the sensor on the D-SLR is bigger. But thats a whole other thing...don't get me started on that.

VIDEO PLAYER

VHS-COPACT CASSETTE PLAYER
WOULD LIKE TO PURCHASE OR HAVE SOMEONE CONVERT THEM TO DIGITAL.
You could check in your local area for a “Dub House”. This is a place that does video duplications and video conversions. If one is not listed in the yellow pages call a local TV station and ask if they know of one.
You can also try coping the tapes yourself by getting a VHS-C adapter: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage...
so you can play the tapes in a full size VHS deck. Then you can connect to a DvD recorder or other device and make copies.

why when i hook up my usb cord into my camera my pictures don't upload?

There can be any number of reasons why this could be happening. A bad cable could be one. Compatibility issue could be another. One of the common problems is an issue on some cameras where there is a corruption on the memory card where it will only read through a Card Reader and not on the camera. When the card is re-formated this usually goes away.
If when you connect the camera to the computer you hear and see some indication that the connection has been established, you should be able to go to “My Computer” and see the addition of another drive. Usually named “Removable Media”. If you don't hear or see an indication that the camera and computer have connected (and the camera is on) than it is probably a bad USB cable. If everything seems to connect and there is no drive icon than it my be a driver issue. Go the the manufactures website and update the driver for that camera model and try again.
A easy solution is a multi card reader. That way you can leave the card reader attached to you computer at all times and don't have to use you camera to upload your photos.

I am looking for a cable that I can download into my computer. I have a Sony Handycam Vision CCD-TRV608

Iam looking for a cable that I can download into my computer. I have a Sony Handycam Vision CCD-TRV608
The Sony Handycam Vision CCD-TRV608 is a Hi8, analog video camcorder. It uses a A/V (Audio Video) cable that is 1/8 inch connector on one end with Red (Right Audio), White (Left Audio) and Yellow (Composite Video) on the other. This cable is used to play recorded video to a monitor or recording devise such as a DvD recorder.
A USB cable (standard connections) is used to connect to a computer to transfer still photos stored on the Sony Memory Stick. Video cannot be transferred by USB.
Both the A/V cable and the USB cable are available at most BestBuy stores.

If you want to capture footage to the computer you can use a DV bridge like the Dazzle from Pinnacle:

what cameras are vista compatible?

Very few cameras are not Vista compatible so the list would be rather long. If there is any doubt check the packaging and look for the Vista logo. Some older but still active models may not be Vista friendly and might require are firmware update or patch to work. These can be easily updated online.

What is the best digital camera for videotaping?

I am going to a concert and I would like to film some of it, what is the best digital camera for this? I would like clear footage and sound. And I would like to be able to zoom in. Also, the what is the longest amount of time I can tape?
Thanks!
I'm not sure if you are looking for a Video Camcorder or a Digital (still) Camera. This question showed up in the Digital Camera section. So..in general:
Digital Cameras don't record very good audio and they don't use tape. Some Digital cameras do capture video (with sound) in very good quality, such as the Nikon D90 found here:http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage...

As for Camcorder, take a look at the Canon XHA1HD: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage...
This camcorder uses a miniDV tape and could give you up to 90mins record time in standard mode with great audio by using the built in XLR inputs. This would allow you to use a shotgun mic or patch into an Audio Mixing board and get direct line input.
