Best Camcorder

I am looking for a camcorder to capture video of my Daughter singing solos in chorus, and possibly in other competitions. I'd like one that records to dvd or mini dvd but want a very reliable camcorder.
HELP?!!
Look for one with the most Optical Zoom before Digital Zoom as possible. Also some form of Image Stabilization is very important. You may not always have a chance to set up a Tri-pob and you may be shooting Hand Held most of the time. If you will be shooting just your Daughter than a DvD based camcorder will be fine. Record lengths on DvD Camcorders is generally 30min(SD) and 60min(EP). For longer record lengths you may want to look at a Hybrid Camcorder, one that has DvD + Flash Memory storage for longer recordings.

I'am interested in buying a sony digital camera. Do I need to buy charger seperately or it is included in the package?

If the specifications page on the site or the packaging list a Lithium-ion Battery than there is a Charger of some form included. Look for the “What's Included” area of the site. If the cameras uses AA or AAA batteries you have the option of using either standard batteries or rechargeable batteries that you have to supply. If it is a compact camera make sure to get extra batteries what ever type they are. Compact cameras drain batteries quickly. D-SLR will give longer battery life but it is still wise to have extra batteries.

What do you call the feature on some cameras where you can take black and white pictures but have certain colors show up?

As has been mentioned, there are some cameras that have a “Color Select” mode for this type of effect. It is also possible to do this in programs like Photoshop and get better results with out loosing the original photo. If you shot the photo with this effect it will always have the effect. If you shoot it in full color and process the photo to add the effect you will have two photos. One unaltered (original) and one processed.

small camcorder need answer FAST!!!!!

i need a small camera that is affordable and easy to use
i don't want the super small ones that look like cell phones or digital cameras
and if there are any i would really love if it was a dvd camcorder but i don't mind much please reply fast
The most inexpensive DvD based Camcorder currently is $299. There are many camcorders that are Flash Memory based and will give you much longer record times (DvD Camcorders range from 30-60min) and prices range fro $99-$1,199. There is quite a selection of Flash Memory based camcorders under $249.

Good 13 Year old Camcorder

What would be a good option for a teenager. Will want something small and cheaper, since will want a newer version in a year or two.
A Flash based camcorder would be a good choice. There are many models to chose from. The Aiptek Digital Camcorder with 2.4" Color LCD also functions as an MP3 player and is under $100. This would be a good starter camcorder and move up from here to something like the Canon FS100 , JVC GZMS100US or Panasonic SDR-S7K .

Camcorder

Sir,
I want to purchase a camcorder which should be within $300 and with dvd so I can play it directly on dvd plyers and computers . The play time of DVD must be max.
DvD Based Camcorders start in at $329 unless on sale special. DvD Camcorders record time is pretty limited. You may want to consider a Sony DCR-DVD810 Hybrid Recording System if you can increase you budget a little. Hybrid Recording Systems allow you to record video footage and still photos directly to 3" DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+RW or DVD+R DL discs, the 8 GB internal memory or Memory Stick Duo or Memory Stick PRO Duo media (media not included). The 8GB internal memory will give you a much extended record time and you can decide if what you shot is DvD worthy.

do you sell this?

Do you sell camaras with 8mm Video Cassette?
8mm, High 8 and Digital 8 all use a 8mm tape. Both 8mm and Hi 8 can be played back on a Digital 8 Camcorder or Deck. This is a format that has diminished in popularity due to the convince of Flash drive and Hard drive based camcorders, no large tapes to carry around. You might find a used unit by Googling “Digital 8 Camcorder”

digital camera w/ articulated LCD

I'm looking for a fairly lightweight digital camera with an articulated LCD that will be used mainly to photograph shelter dogs and cats
Very few if any of the Compact Cameras will come with a articulated LCD, that is one that you can tilt and/or swivel. Some Advanced Cameras do and several D-SLR Cameras are now adding that feature due to the popularity of Live View function on D-SLR Cameras. The Olympus e-330 & E-3, Sony a300 & 350 and Panasonic DMC-L10K to mention just a few. I would suggest a D-SLR for the subject you plan to photograph. This camera will give you much more control over your photo than a Compact. You will be able to shoot in a higher ISO (Sensitivity of the camera) and reduce the need for the Flash firing. Some dogs and cats have a knack of closing their eyes just as the flash fires. Also you can add additional lenses for better zooming quality. Digital zoom on the Compact and Advanced cameras may give you more aliasing (jagged distortions in curves).

Which is a better memory card the XD or SDHC and why?

xD originally stood for extreme Digital, the cards were developed by Olympus and Fujifilm. xD memory is mostly found in Olympus and Fujifilm digital cameras and Olympus digital voice recorders . SDHC (Secure Digital High Capacity, SD 2.0) is an extension of the SD standard and allows standard-compliant capacities in excess of 2 GB up to 32 GB. SDHC cards only work in SDHC compatible devices, but standard SD cards work in both SD and SDHC devices. SDHC is widely used by many manufactures in Cameras to Camcorders.

Which Camcorder?

I am searching for a new camcorder. I am going to be using it to capture my children at their best. I do not want to spend a lot of money, maybe less than three hundred dollars. I do not want to mess with any type of tapes. I was thinking maybe a harddrive with a memory card option or something along those lines. I really need it to have a clear playback picture when watching on tv. What do you reccomend? We have a reather cheap one and I hate it. The picture is not clear at all and well their is just nothing good I can say aobut it. Thanks
A Flash based or Hard Drive based camcorder would be a good choice. Both are similar in recording formats with the Flash based having the convince of unlimited additional storage and archiving footage by just removing the Memory and replacing with another. You will be pleasantly surprised with the quality of these camcorders. Hard drive based camcorders will start in at $400 and Flash based ones starting in at $99 and going up. There may be conversion of format required if you want to edit the footage on a computer. Look for camcorders with the highest Optical Zoom and ones with Image Stabilization to get the best video of active children.
