Very nice camcorder. Follow this link

If this does not come up as a link than copy and paste it into your browser. It should take you to the manual.

repair

Does Best Buy do camera repairs?
Best Buy does offer camera repair.
Although our in-house Best Buy Service Centers do some repairs, the majority of repairs are completed by Precision Camera Repair. We are set up with a "Direct to Vendor" model (DTV), which allows us to UPS the customers unit directly to Precision, who when completed, will UPS the camera directly to the customers house. The average turn-around-time (TAT) for the repair from when the customer drops off the camera until it arrives back at there house is 7 days. This applies to all cameras under Manufacturers Warranty as well as PSP. We also repair out of warranty cameras that should enjoy the same TAT, if the estimate is approved promptly.

I am studying abroad, how do the new rechargeable lithium batteries work with that

I wanted to know if there is a special adapted needed for the slimer cameras that come with the rechargable lithium batteries because i've blown up regular rechargable battery chargers in foreign countries
For charging lithium ion (LI-ion) batteries abroad the best and safest thing to do is to purchase the battery charger from the camera maker suited for that country’s electrical infrastructure and specific to your camera. Second option would be to buy a aftermarket charger that is meant for the battery you have and can accommodate foreign voltages and frequencies. I wouldn’t recommend running your US charger through a universal converter unless you have purchased a really good one meant to have more than a shaver or hair dryer plugged into it.
Lithium ion (LI-ion) batteries are especially touchy and can easily (as you indicated) self destruct if not charged properly.
If you go with aftermarket look for a “smart charger” with Auto-Shut Off and Multi-voltage Charging. Multi-Voltage function in this charger automatically selects the correct voltage for charging in foreign countries allowing it to charge lithium ion (Li-ion) batteries worldwide. An adapter plug may be required for charging in countries other than the USA unless included with charger.
We have a couple after market ones on BetBuy.com, you will need to see if it will work with your camera and in the countries you will be in.
DigiPower - Lithium-Ion World Travel Charger Model: TC-370 | SKU: 6218611
DigiPower - Travel Charger for Select Digital Camera Models Model: TC-500PFC | SKU: 8471815
Sima - International Travel Plug Set Model: SIP-3 SKU: 7012332

When doing a price match question regarding digital camera.

I am interested in the Canon PowerShot SD750 Digital Elph. I see that it is NOT on sale at Best Buy, but it is on sale at the competitor's retail store. How would I present the proof on the lower price to get the competitor's sale price if the camera is not on the retailer's ad? How many forms of payment may I use on one purchase? I have two Best Buy gift cards and a Visa gift card that I would like to use on the purchase of this camera.
The customer can do of the following things. First, have the Best Buy store call the competitor and verify the price and in-stock. This would be the simplest option if the store is willing to do it. (Stores are not required to do this per SOP) The second option would be buying the product and providing Best Buy with a copy of the receipt. The customer would then have to return the item and the competitor.
The price match policy does state the following:
If you’re about to make a purchase and discover a lower advertised price offered by a local retail competitor on the same available brand and model, let us know and we’ll match that price on the spot. Already bought? We’ll refund you the price difference from our own sale price, or 110% of the difference from our competitor’s sales price, up to 30 days after your purchase (14 days on select categories, 60 days for HDTV’s purchased from 6/3/07 though 2/2/08). Either way, simply bring in proof of the price while that lower price is still in effect.
The customer may use up to 5 credit cards per purchase and as many gift cards as they have.

Voice editing on Hitachi DVD camcorder with Hard drive

I think I am falling for Hitachi DVD camcorder with hard drive, but not sure about two things. #1. Can I audio edit (adding songs in the background etc)? #2. Can I play the hard drive contents to TV before burning the DVD?
Also, If I go with big hard drive camcorders (which allow video to be burned on DVD thru computer), how much video time can be burned on a DVD (as compared to the DVD camcorders, where the recording time is usually 30 min.)
This will have to be a 2 part answer. I'm checking into the audio edit function. As for playing the hard drive contents to TV for preview, that can be done with the AV cable supplied with the camcorder. If you have a stand alone dvd recorder you can record up 8 hours (on some models) directly from you camcorder. The camcorder itself will burn 60min on a dvd per side in STD mode. Using the computer you should get up to 2 hr, I'll try to confirm that also.

Correct Camera for Gymnasium

We are using an Olympus 550 Digital camera that works very well for everything except inside a school Gym. The lights and floor make it difficult to get a clear picture with the correct colors and no graininess. What would be the best camera for this application? (0-$600)
Either the Canon XTi , the Nikon D40 or the Olympus E-410 would be good choices. All three are FULL function Digital-SLR cameras giving YOU complete control over your shooting needs. As you progress you can add lenses to get closer shots and better detail. The larger sensor of the Digital-SLR is more light sensitive and that makes for a much clearer and sharper photo. The Nikon D40 is a 6.1 megapixel and the Canon XTi is 10.1 megapixel and the Olympus E-410 is a 10.0 megapixel. Any of these will give you the control you need to get the shot your looking for.

What software should I get??? Please help!!

I have a Sony video camera that was my fathers. He past away a few years ago and the only thing I was able to find was the camera itself. He use to tape with that camcorder and put it on the computer to make a DVD out of it. Unfortunately I have tried that with my computer and nothing comes up when I plug it in. What software do I need to buy in order to put what's on the tape onto my computer?? Please, I have had this problem for a while now. Could someone let me know? Thank you!!!
If it is a Digital Camcorder you need the software to “Capture” the footage once you connected the camera to the Firewire port on your computer and the iLink port on the camcorder. If you do not have a Firewire port it needs to be added, or you can get a A/V (Audio Video) Capture box such as Dazzle Digital Video Creator Platinum from Pinnacle and connect your camcorder to it. If you do have a Firewire Port then you can install editing software such as Adobe Premiere Elements 4 to capture and edit the footage. If it is NOT a Digital camcorder and just a Video Tape type camcorder than the Pinnacle system would be best. Both systems are very easy to use and will give you great results.

lens compatability

I have an old 35mm with multiple lenses. Can I use the old lenses with the new digital large camera that you can change lenses?
In most cases YES, but not always. It is preferable that the lens be of an Auto Focus type.
There is also a Conversion Factor involved. The sensor on a Digital –SLR is smaller than the 35mm film standard. This will in most cases cause the zoom or focal length to be longer than what it marked on the lens. Anywhere from a 1.1 to almost 2 multifunction factor. The lenses also should be of the same brand as the D-SLR camera body.

Playing Sony Hi8 tapes in VHS

I'm looking for a videotape that I can insert my Sony Hi8 tape in so I can play it in the VCR... I'm having trouble finding a videotape that will work for my kind of casette. Any help locating one, please?
There is no cassette converter. Hi8 is a special 8mm tape that runs at a special speed . VHS is 1/2 inch tape that runs at a different speed altogether. Plus the video heads on doth machines are not compatible. If you have the camera the video was shot on you can run the A/V (audio video) out to the VCR and make a copy. If you do not have access to the camera a Digital 8 camera will play back Hi8 tapes.

Help! Help! Help! Which Camcorder Do I Buy?

I need help I have finally decided to buy a camcorder after years of wanting one and have done a lot or research and I am still not clear on what to get. I want to get one to take videos of my kids, and also I just found out my dad has cancer and want to put together something of him from the start to hopefully him beating this awful disease. WHat do I need? I don't need to take still photos because I just got a new digital camera. Can someone help me? I am so confused!
I would recommend a SD (Standard Definition) Hard Drive Camcorder. This will record directly to a built in hard drive (30gig up to 80gig models) so you wont have to keep tapes or dvds on hand or keep track of them after you record. Getting a SD(Standard Definition) will be easier to work with when editing. All Camcorders have photo still built into them, its just an extra feature.
