I'm looking for a fisheye lens.

I have a old JVC mini DV camera, I'm not sure of the model number and I'm looking for a good fisheye lens that would fit my camera. Does Best Buy sell these kind of lens? Is there any difference between lens for camcorders and ones for digital cameras? All I know is the JVC camcorder lens says f=2.2~55mm F1.8 O27. What does any of that mean? Please help. Thanks in advance.
It would be helpful to know the exact model number of the camera. There is a difference between Camcorder lenses and D-SLR type lenses. Among many things is the connection to the camera itself. Most consumer grade Camcorders do not have removable lenses so all you can do is add a Fisheye adapter. As to the numbers that are on the lens. The f= refers to the Focal Length (how much zoom). If you have a f/ and a number this refers to how light sensitive it is...aperture. Look for a " O " with a " / " thru it. This is the diameter of the lens for filters and adapters. A Wide Angle adapter will give you a larger field of view and give you some of the Fisheye look. Some people really want the wide angle and are confusing it for a Fisheye. BestBuy does carry Sunpak - 0.5x Wide-Angle Converter Lens for Digital Cameras. It fits 25mm - 37mm lenses. It would be best to take the camera with you to your nearest BestBuy and check the fit and the look of a Wide Angle Adapter. It may be what you are looking for.

I want a DVD videocamera that is under 400 dollars and I want it to hook up to my PC so I can email videos to family. Which one do you suggest.

Samsung - 1.0MP DVD Camcorder SC-DC575,The Canon - DVD Camcorder DC220 and the Hitachi - DVD Camcorder with 8GB Hard Drive DZHS300A are camcorders that have USB connectivity(will hook up to your PC) that are in that price range. The Hitachi is nice in having the 8 gig hard drive. This helps if you forgot your blank DvDs to have that extra storage.

Which camcorder should I get'?

I need a camcorder thats pretty easy to use and edit. I'm also shooting videos at an "across the room distance". I looked at some of the point and shoot camcorders and I'm not sure if it's vista home premium compatible.
PLEASE HELP!!
Sony - Handycam Camcorder DCR-SR85 has a 25x optical zoom, 60gb drive and is Vista Home Basic compatible. When it comes to shooting that distance across a room you want the best optical zoom. Digital zoom will give you a lot of pixelation (stair stepping) in the image. Since it is Vista Home Basic compatible it should work fine with Premium.

Record direct to computer?

Can a camcorder be connected to a computer for 'live' recording instead of using the camera's storage capability? Would Movie Maker support this kind of application?
Depending on the model and age of of the camcorder it is possible to connect directly to the computer for live capture. Some software supports this function through the “Firewire” (IEEE 1394) port. Adobe Premiere supports this function. Usb based camcorders that allow this usually come with their own software. Movie Maker supports this function, just put the camcorder in "Camera" mode instead of "VCR" mode before capture.

print sizes

how big of a print can u make with a 7.1 mp camera?
Technically you can print any size from a 7.1 megapixel camera you want. The problem is that once you get bigger than 8x10 the image starts to look aliased (stair stepping) and pixelated. So up to 8x10 you should be pretty safe.Keep in mind that any cropping you do to the image before printing reduces the megapixel count. For example a crop of half of the photo leaves you with a 3 megepixle image and a print above a 4x6 will begin to look pixelated.

repair

Does Best Buy do camera repairs?
Best Buy does offer camera repair.
Although our in-house Best Buy Service Centers do some repairs, the majority of repairs are completed by Precision Camera Repair. We are set up with a "Direct to Vendor" model (DTV), which allows us to UPS the customers unit directly to Precision, who when completed, will UPS the camera directly to the customers house. The average turn-around-time (TAT) for the repair from when the customer drops off the camera until it arrives back at there house is 7 days. This applies to all cameras under Manufacturers Warranty as well as PSP. We also repair out of warranty cameras that should enjoy the same TAT, if the estimate is approved promptly.

I am studying abroad, how do the new rechargeable lithium batteries work with that

I wanted to know if there is a special adapted needed for the slimer cameras that come with the rechargable lithium batteries because i've blown up regular rechargable battery chargers in foreign countries
For charging lithium ion (LI-ion) batteries abroad the best and safest thing to do is to purchase the battery charger from the camera maker suited for that country’s electrical infrastructure and specific to your camera. Second option would be to buy a aftermarket charger that is meant for the battery you have and can accommodate foreign voltages and frequencies. I wouldn’t recommend running your US charger through a universal converter unless you have purchased a really good one meant to have more than a shaver or hair dryer plugged into it.
Lithium ion (LI-ion) batteries are especially touchy and can easily (as you indicated) self destruct if not charged properly.
If you go with aftermarket look for a “smart charger” with Auto-Shut Off and Multi-voltage Charging. Multi-Voltage function in this charger automatically selects the correct voltage for charging in foreign countries allowing it to charge lithium ion (Li-ion) batteries worldwide. An adapter plug may be required for charging in countries other than the USA unless included with charger.
We have a couple after market ones on BetBuy.com, you will need to see if it will work with your camera and in the countries you will be in.
DigiPower - Lithium-Ion World Travel Charger Model: TC-370 | SKU: 6218611
DigiPower - Travel Charger for Select Digital Camera Models Model: TC-500PFC | SKU: 8471815
Sima - International Travel Plug Set Model: SIP-3 SKU: 7012332

When doing a price match question regarding digital camera.

I am interested in the Canon PowerShot SD750 Digital Elph. I see that it is NOT on sale at Best Buy, but it is on sale at the competitor's retail store. How would I present the proof on the lower price to get the competitor's sale price if the camera is not on the retailer's ad? How many forms of payment may I use on one purchase? I have two Best Buy gift cards and a Visa gift card that I would like to use on the purchase of this camera.
The customer can do of the following things. First, have the Best Buy store call the competitor and verify the price and in-stock. This would be the simplest option if the store is willing to do it. (Stores are not required to do this per SOP) The second option would be buying the product and providing Best Buy with a copy of the receipt. The customer would then have to return the item and the competitor.
The price match policy does state the following:
If you’re about to make a purchase and discover a lower advertised price offered by a local retail competitor on the same available brand and model, let us know and we’ll match that price on the spot. Already bought? We’ll refund you the price difference from our own sale price, or 110% of the difference from our competitor’s sales price, up to 30 days after your purchase (14 days on select categories, 60 days for HDTV’s purchased from 6/3/07 though 2/2/08). Either way, simply bring in proof of the price while that lower price is still in effect.
The customer may use up to 5 credit cards per purchase and as many gift cards as they have.

Voice editing on Hitachi DVD camcorder with Hard drive

I think I am falling for Hitachi DVD camcorder with hard drive, but not sure about two things. #1. Can I audio edit (adding songs in the background etc)? #2. Can I play the hard drive contents to TV before burning the DVD?
Also, If I go with big hard drive camcorders (which allow video to be burned on DVD thru computer), how much video time can be burned on a DVD (as compared to the DVD camcorders, where the recording time is usually 30 min.)
This will have to be a 2 part answer. I'm checking into the audio edit function. As for playing the hard drive contents to TV for preview, that can be done with the AV cable supplied with the camcorder. If you have a stand alone dvd recorder you can record up 8 hours (on some models) directly from you camcorder. The camcorder itself will burn 60min on a dvd per side in STD mode. Using the computer you should get up to 2 hr, I'll try to confirm that also.
