What is a good entry level digital
Daughter is 16 and wants to be a photographer. Wants to upgrade from an Exlim to a camera with a lense.
Canon, Nikon and Sony all have great entry level cameras with many useful features that help new photographers.
They are all priced similarly. The best thing to do is stop by your nearest BestBuy and look at the demo models. Let her try the different ones and look for one that fits her hands well and lays out in a way that she feels comfortable with.
I cannot say which one is better..I shoot with Sony and have many friends that shoot Canon and Nikon. We all have our favorites.

What program do I need to transfer a frame of a video to my computer to print picture?
If I have DVD video and want to print/save a particular frame and save/print it, do you have a program that does this?
A still frame from video footage could be captured using video editing software such as Adobe Premier or Elements, Sony Vegas, Pinnacle Studio and Windows Movie Maker.
Once the footage is on the editor time line and on the frame you wish to copy look for "Export Frame" and it will capture that frame and ask where to save. Once saved you can use the file like any other photo file.

can a memory reader take dowlaods and transfer them to a new memory card for use in a phone mp3 player?
Mulit Card readers can be used to transfer files and data from one type of memory card to another. They do not do any conversion, they can only transfer.Files may have to be copied on to the computer first an then copied back to a different memory media.

Good pic at dark recital
I've been messing around with this since my daughter started dance 4 years ago. We are sitting in the dark audience and my daughter is aways away on the bright stage. So far no good pics with my point and shoot. i'm ordering a cannon rebel with the 55-200 telephoto zoom lense in addition. Any suggestions on how to get good photos at the dance recitals??
Try to get as close to the stage as possible. If the stage is some what well lite set the ISO of your camera at 400 if you can get close to the stage, around 30 to 50 feet. The farther back you are the higher ISO you will probably need.
Don't use a flash. Set the camera to "P" mode to start...this way the camera will adjust itself without using the flash.
While in this mode you can still make changes to the settings using the thumb wheels. It will take some experimenting but you can get some good shots with what you have.
The attached photos I shot at 1600ISO from about 1000 feet + from the stage. Aperture was at f/4.0 at 70mm... no flash was used. This is a some what slow lens. Sigma f/4 70-300mm.

The DX refers to the DX-format D-SLRs family of Nikon cameras.
Some sites add the DX to the name just as some sites add EOS to certain Canon cameras to show that they are part of the EOS family line.

Water resistant usually means the seals on the camera are such as to keep out moister and dust but not pressure out.
Water-Proof is similar as Water Resistant but can also stand up to certain amounts of under water pressure to keep water out.
For example..both could be taken out in the rain...but only Water Proof could go under water.

Without a memory card can i access deleted pics on my camara?
Unfortunately no. Data recovery software might restore some photos if there is some internal memory and no pictures have been taken since the deletion.
If the camera has no internal memory those photos are gone.

These cameras do not have a removable lens.
You can add a additional lens attachment (wide angle adapter or telephoto) and/or a filters (Circular Polarizing,UV, ect..).
The filter size is said to be 74mm.

Will the Dynex 60" Universal Tripod fit the Nikon D5000 camera?
Yes. All cameras have a threaded area at the bottom of the camera that is a standard size and thread count to be compatible with tripods.
